I have been patient for 104 days because you guys prepped me for the wait. I finally got my letter today. It tells me I will get my membership card and vacation planner in 2 weeks. I love waiting for something to tell me to wait longer.

I am 72 days away from a trip to WDW for the F&W Festival. Which means I am 12 days from reserving my FP+. So I have been waiting to buy my AP with the DVC discount. But it looks like I won't be able to do that for another 2 weeks. Unless...

I can call the number on the letter and buy the AP using my DVA. Anyone know if you can? Normally I would just try, but my head is not in the right frame of mind to talk to what might be an unhelpful CS rep.
 
You can call MS with your member # (you got in the mail) and make plans. Congrats!
 
You can log into the member site and purchase your AP at the discounted rate online.
 
I'm assuming you did not receive your member number in the letter?

If not then call the number listed and choose the option to speak to Member admin or accounting, not Member service to book a trip. MS will just tell you that you have to wait but Member admin or accounting (I forget what the phone tree says) would be the ones that might help. There really is no guarantee of that though.
 

Member services is super nice to you once you have your letter. Just call and they will help you set up your account online and you are all set. My cards came in the mail about a week after my letter. Have fun!!
 
Call MS, give them your SSN and they can look up your info.

I have my member number. I don't have the verification code to setup my online account. I am assuming that comes in the welcome packet.

I don't need to make reservations. I already have those. I just need to purchase my discounted AP.
 
If you have your membership number, just call MS and the CM will help you buy the DVC AP. You will be able to link the pass(es) to your MDE account with the confirmation number you get.

AFAIK, you don't have to wait for the activation code, either. MS should give that to you and help you set up the online account. My advice is to call mid-afternoon or late morning, when they are not as likely to be so busy with the phones.

Yeah, I assumed that the activation code would come too a couple of years ago when I bought. It didn't arrive w/ the welcome package, in fact it never arrived - I think that's old language. Just call and they'll help you set up your account & you can buy your APs in that phone call or do it on line. By the time you need your membership card to activate your AP at WDW you'll have it!
 
I just did this about a week ago (received my letter on 8/15). You can call MS (option 1 works well) and a CM will give you your verification code. They are MORE then willing to help in any way, very pleasant and help with setting up the account, making reservations and placing you on a wait list if needed. Once you get the letter, its like a black cloud has been removed over your head! Good luck and enjoy your many years of DVC!!

Looks like we are going to be in the most magical place together. My wife and I are going to be there 10/28-11/2 (66 days from now, I noticed your count down)

Thank you all. I got my account setup yesterday. Alas, I still cannot buy my APs. The DVA was down all day yesterday and today says it will be down for another 2 days.

I did not write the account down prior to this.

There is a number listed that says I can call to get my info in a few hours.

Not sure what you're saying DVA is down? I am on member site now. Plus, you can go to WDW website and select buying tickets and then select annual passes and there will be a drop down where you can select DVC member pricing but you have to know your sign on info for the DVC member website (put that in and it will give you DVC pricing and you can buy right then). Then link it to your MDE account. You can also just call MS and buy an AP over the phone.

DVA is the Disney vacation account-OP must have money saved in there they want to use to buy the DVC AP but you have to have your account # (it's like a gift card #) in order to purchase using that (and with the site down you can't log in to get it)
