We will be at WDW 11/24/12 thru 12/3/12 and have family of 13 that need 2 2 br villas at VWL. We have one villa the whole time at VWL and have the other 11/24/12 thru 12/1/12 but is waitlisted for 12/1 and 12/2. What has been your experiences with getting a waitlist? It seems like there is not any availability at any of the resorts for those 2 days for 2 br villas. Our purpose of buying into DVC was to spend a family vacation together. Now I am concerned that we well be at different resorts. Well there be any other rooms that may open closer to our travel date. Do they allow people that are on waitless access to the cash rooms inventory if they have not rented them closer to our travel date. Is there any reason that a person should not waitlist the resort up to 7 days before rather than 30? Looking for any waitlist pointers you can give me.

If you didn't book those at 11 months out, you probably aren't going to get them. Early December is the hardest time for a DVC member to get a reservation at seven months out. And VWL is hard to get at seven months out for the holiday time.

If you want those two days, you may need to book them for cash. You could see if DVC has them available for cash and you could link them. But points are points and cash is cash and never the twain shall meet. They are two different inventory belonging to two different companies.

For future reference , this type of question will get better answers on the DVC boards, since it is very specific to DVC vs general resorts.

Although Deb's answer was totally right.
