Can you swim in either the pools or ocean at Vero Beach at the end of Nov.? We are trying to sneak this in before our WDW trip. We are from Ca. and don't know the weather there at that time of the year. Thanks.

Pools - yes. Ocean - probably.

I grew up in Florida and I personally think November is the best month of the year in terms of weather. The humidity is down, mosquitoes are down. It is typically cool in the morning and at night, but warm in the afternoon.

There's always a chance you'll get a cold snap, but you're likely to run into nice weather.

I agree... We've gone in November a few times... Most of the time, the pools and ocean aren't an issue...

A few years ago, at VB it was too cold to swim in early December for a day or two on the trip... We just switched activities for those days..

Is there enough for DS 4 and DD 18month to do for three nights? I can't decide if we would rather have a one bedroom or studio for such a short time. Also, how far is it from MCO and WDW? Thanks

November is my favorite month to go to VB. Definitely no problem with the pool and the ocean is still fine (certainly for me). VB is probably the best resort to go to with your family situation.

The VB resort provides daily activities for kids & adults with the best CMs of all the resorts.

They have a nice pool & Lighthouse spiral waterslide, a REALLY cool water play area for the real young kids, a hot Jacuzzi, miniature golf, exercise room, ping pong, bike rentals, The Green Cabin Room (bar/restaurant) has 2nd floor covered deck that has a fantastic view of the ocean and is a nice place to relax with your favorite beverage. It also has live entertainment in the evenings. At night they have a campfire / s’more roast (bring the Cutter Advanced to fend off the No-see-ums). You can rent a small catamaran or jet-ski for ocean fun. Across the street they have a lake, picnic tables, nature trail, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Disney built a private tunnel under the road to access this area. And of course they have the ocean and great waves for boogy boarding. Everything from the ocean to the pool to your room is no more than 2 minutes away walking. So it is real easy to break up your day

5 minutes away is Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge and a wildlife education center. Just a few minutes further up the road is Sebastian Inlet State Park were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour north is Port Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours. 20 minutes south is McKee Botanical Garden (18 acres) with some REALLY cool vegetation and trees. 30 minutes south in Fort Piece is the Manatee Observation and Education Center.

If you can get one, I'd try for an Ocean View Inn Room instead of a studio. OVIRs rock!

Sorry to hijack the thread but does anyone know if there is a lifeguard at the VB beach? My kids love swimming in the ocean, even if it's a little rough, but I'm always a little concerned about the surf, especially if there's an undertow.

There is no lifeguard at the beach.

Starbox is right (no news there), but the disney beach adjoins a public beach on the north and they used to have a guard tower there. I don't recall if that is there since the hurricanes, but take a look. Also, get your kids each a boogy board with a strap that solidly straps to their wrist if you are going to let them play in the waves. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info on the lifeguard Starbox and DisDaydreamer. We are planning a late Oct/early Nov. WDW/VB/3day Wonder cruise trip. Planning on hitting WDW for MNSSHP, VB for some quality quiet family time and then the Wonder just because we can't help ourselves. We own at VWL and now ALK so we will be booking at 7 month. I'm hoping this won't be a problem.

Hey Jen, Vero is a lot warmer water then going to Morro Bay / Pismo beach area. The ocean is a treat there. No more 65 degree water in August like the Pacific ocean.

According to my guide(who just put through a VB add on for us) the only time you really need the 11 month window for VB is Spring Break time(march-april) which is when we plan on using our points. If we wanted to go any other time he said adding on to our home resort would have made more sense.

EXCEPT! We have SSR, AKV, and CRV (huge resorts) coming into the system and no additional beach properties. I think VB & HH are going to be much harder to get in the future with all the new members. :thumbsup2

I must have gotten really lucky then, because I booked (2) Inn Rooms and a 2-bedroom at Vero at the 7 month window for smack in the middle of March!!

19 days before I'm a beach bunny!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

That's why we did the add-on! DH really wanted the beach, right on the beach, so HH was out.

The 2 weeks around Easter, when our SB usually falls is really tough to get in at 7 months for a dedicated 2br, which is when we would go. Plus DH wants the BEACH and is worried with the finishing of SSR and AKV coming on line, VB is going to get tough at 7 months in the Spring.

We loved our first visit to VB in early Nov. The water was still warmer than anything we get on the Pacific. We only stayed 2 nights at the end of our WDW trip, but next time I would prefer 3 nights. Someday I hope we can stay in the Beach Cottage.
