We usually travel at the end of February but this year I also get a full week off for Thanksgiving (i'm a teacher). How does the weather compare? Is this still hurricane season? Is it more crowded during Thanksgiving? TIA!

Hi,

My family visited WDW twice around thanksgiving and once near the end of February. We found the weather to be cooler in November. The weather in November can go from very warm to very cold. It may or may not be swimming weather. Sometimes it will start off warm and then turn very cool or cold. So we usually bring summer and winter cloths and watch the weather forecast very closely prior to our trip. Thanksgiving week is very busy. The closer you get to Thanksgiving Day the busier it gets. I would avoid Magic Kingdom at all costs on Thanksgiving Day. We do Animal Kingdom. It is busy but tolerable. I enjoyed our trips in November. Christmas Decorations are up and there are many festive events to put you in the Christmas mood like the MVMCP in Magic Kingdom, Osbourne Lights in Hollywood Studios, the Candlelight Processional begins the day after thanksgiving in Epcot. Also, parades are Christmas oriented. Some resorts will be decorated for Christmas. I know that around Presidents day in February, WDW is Extremely busy also. We always make reservations as close to 180 days as possible if we want character meals. And we have a general touring plan and arrive at rope drop if we want to ride headliner attractions. Hopefully, the ability to reserve fastpasses in advance that is scheduled to come in the near future will help with these crowded times. I enjoyed both times of year. :thumbsup2. We are going to take a trip later this month. This will be our first summer trip. :beach:

We did Thanksgiving week in 2009. It was very busy from actual Thanksgiving day through the end of that weekend. I'm talking 300+ hours wait time posted for Soarin' busy. :headache:

We actually did MK on Thanksgiving Day (we had dinner at CRT that day) and it was :crowded:

Now, in 2011 we did February and that was much better crowd wise, even over Presidents Day weekend. :thumbsup2

We would not do Thanksgiving week again.

We were there this year Feb 3 - Feb 13th and it was actually HOT! Shorts, tank tops, bathing suits and swimming hot. Now I know that's not typical, but it sure was great! Hope you get the same! :beach:

Thanksgiving will be markedly more crowded than the end of Feb. It will probably also be cooler, and you may not get as much pool time.

That being said, in my mind, the Christmas decorations are ABSOLUTELY worth the uptick in crowds if you haven't experienced them before!
