Tried it already. Most DVC resorts are even booked up. Our week of 12/3-12/11 only a 1 bedroom at SSR was available. Craziness!

That's how we ended up the week of 12/11. All that was available for a studio was SSR and not till that week.

I was able to save $150 on our almost 9k vacation. I'm not sure it was even worth the time making the booking change.

Same here. I gave that a shot initially, knowing it was likely too late in the game but it doesn't hurt to try. Only thing available (week after Thanksgiving) was a 1-bedroom at SSR. Over my budget so it was back to looking at rooms! I had hoped for more but at least I got a Value with the RO discount.

Well, glad we got free dining for our December trip but was hoping for a better deal. Will definitely book a bounceback (assuming it's offered ) or pray for an offer code for our 2017 trip. Seems that this is an indication that discounts will be slim in the future....

That's a good idea. If we are traveling Nov 2016 will the bounce back usually be offered for most of 2017? I will definitely book a bounceback for fall 2017 if possible.

We booked a standard room with the regular dining plan and park tickets at POR last year before the prices increases for this year and it works out to be a better saving than the new fall discount of 15%. I was considering upgrading from standard view if the discount was good but no luck. We also have a RO reservation for 1 day at the beginning of our stay and it would have been nice to have it all as one reservation instead but I guess it's not going to happen. I notice POR has 3 different room categories available for our stay but none under the discount. I think it's unfair that they only open a few rooms for the discount, they should open all available room for the discount! Oh well the kiddos are still excited so I am too.

Shoot. Had given up on a discount coming out, at least not in time for us to use FF miles for flights. We ended up renting points and doing SSR for about the same price POR would be if we used this discount and orbitz. Someone convince me it will be ok? We've never stayed dvc before.

We rented points at Old Key West back in January and it was a great experience. We have never stayed at SSR but I do love that you can walk to Disney Springs from there. We also had lunch there and really enjoyed it. I think you will have a great time!

Sigh...no discount for us.

The deal starts the day after we arrive, my resort is not available, and the nice but somewhat clueless cast member I spoke with said we already had a discount on our package (which we don't). Even if we do a split stay, we'd have to change resorts, and we still wouldn't save any money after adding in the RO ressie and dining for one night.

If any one is still hoping for a RO discount I would keep periodically checking for the next couple of weeks. With the FD discount this year they did not release all rooms at once the released some when the discount came out then released a bunch more at a later date. They might be doing the same thing with the RO discount.

We also have Free Dining in December. Wanted to add 1 day on at the end of our reservation, Tried that before the FD booking period ended in July. They could not do that. nothing available. SO... I called this morning to get RO for that last night. THIS MORNING SHE EXTRENDED MY FREE DINING ONE NIGHT !! Also, they answered on the first ring. Cant believe it.

Its funny when I move our dates to the week 12/10-12/18, I see tons of available rooms but I assuming thats because most people took free dining instead.
I worked too hard to get my ADRs so I'm sticking with my dates. But I'm definitely bummed about it.

On the bright side, we've stayed at every mod but CBR so it will be a new experience for us.

So my travel dates fall between two different discounts and I can't get either of them. I contacted a TA about rates and they told me that the rate I already had was great. So much for stalking discounts. I booked before ticket price increase and DDP increase so I guess I better just be grateful. Good luck to everyone

We had booked with a bounceback for December. Was hoping that the room only would be better than that, but now I'm holding out hope for passholder discounts.

I switched from Pop Century to Coronado Springs for our trip 12/6 - 12/11. Not exactly where we wanted to be, we were hoping to get POFQ, or at least back to POR but no dice. Yes we are paying more, but at least we are at a moderate now. I just didn't want to deal with a Value during Pop Warner week.

I'm still going to look at the price for renting DVC points. Who knows, maybe I'll even try a travel agent for once.

Now to figure out park tickets...

My friend is DVC and she checked for me awhile back and DVC is practically booked solid October through December. Even Saratoga Springs and Old Key West! The fall/early winter is high peak DVC time since point per night is so low.

I never book something I can't afford - so I am willing to pay rack rate as well. It's just disappointing that the "discount" is no discount at all.

Same here. I am also staying at the Grand Floridian this December and the "sticker shock" did not seem as bad for a 1 night deposit with hopes of a 25/30% off.

It feels like this is a bit of a bait and switch to me - a way to get people to call in, excited about discounts, already mentally planning their trips, then told that unfortunately there's nothing available, everything is already booked, but here, let us help you plan your magical vacation anyway!

I agree 100% and its really frustrating when you call and wait to speak with someone after they release these deals. Last time I wanted the "stay in the middle of magic" for fall, it took me 90 minutes just to get through to be told nothing could be changed!

Whats crazy is that earlier I posted about part of our group having to switch the Coronado to save $300. Turns out, it saved them $1,000+! They even had to accept the ticket price increase & they were upgraded to Business class.
We can't figure it out, I swear it was a glitch but hey! At least some of us had luck with the discount.
