November/December 2008?

We drove down in August of 2006 with my DD and DS (6&4). My husband is very possesive of the wheel so I can say that I only drove maybe 5 hours if any.

Anyway, we made a pitstop into SC for a night and then drove into Savannah to go to Lady & Sons and meet with my BF from Atlanta. Then right afterwards stayed at a rinky dink outside the gates before we checked in the next day.

Coming back, we drove until night, stayed and then drove the rest of the way back and I think I got in 3 hours of driving this time.

The drive's not bad, the kids were good. Thank God for DVD players in the car!

We might do Amtrak this year b/c DS is a Thomas the Tank Engine freak!!!
Anyone ever take the train?

I have never rode a train for more than 25 minutes but it sounds like fun. My DS was a Thomas fanatic. We went several times to a Day Out With Thomas. If you have an old railway museum in your area with track you might check and see if they have such an event. You get to ride in a railcar pulled by Thomas and then there are all kinds of fun activities going on all day.

We are from Ohio but love to go to the one in Kentucky. They have all kinds of train display up at the museum that my son would watch all day if you let him.:yay:

We've been to DOWT and he LOVED it!!
We like to go to the one in PA b/c it's in Amish Country and I love it there.:cloud9:

Add me to the list! We will be at AKV December 5-13. It is our first trip to WDW at Christmas time, and we can't wait! December can't get here fast enough! :goodvibes

I'm also joining the crowd, :)

We'll be at the POR from Nov 28 - Dec 6th, :woohoo:

This will be our first ever family trip there... My and dh's first (and only) other time was our honeymoon in '99, so really looking forward to being back!! :goodvibes

It'll be both our dd's birthday trip... we'll be getting there on my older dd's actual birthday (turning 8 yo), then my younger dd's b-day is Dec 11th (turning 6 yo), so thinking we'll get her a birthday t-shirt to wear the last day we're there, :)

And really looking forward to seeing the Christmas decorations for the first time!!

Michelle

The end of Nov and beginning of Dec is my favorite time to go. The weather is very pleasant. You start with a sweatshirt and by noon you take it off, then at the end of the day you might want to put it back on. My kids even went swimming.

The crowds were so managable when we were there in 06. Just a handful of rides that had a wait.

Some counter service places seemed like a ghost town. We had lots of elbow room.

We JUST did it, from CT. About a 22 hour drive with a 5 year old, a 3 year old, and a 15 month old. Straight, non-stop on the way down, and one stop 1/2 way home on the way back. My wife and I survived, sanity intact (or, as intact as it's ever been).

It wasn't TOO bad. The worst part was the kids (well, the older kids) pretty much refused to sleep on the way down (they were too excited)...They maybe slept for 2 or 3 hours of the total drive down. We finally gave up on trying to get them to sleep around 11 PM and just kept popping DVD's into the DVD player. Kept them relativley quiet, and happy, the rest of the drive.

:scared1: God bless you and your wife!! Just the thought scares me. We did recently purcahse the DVD players for the car so that would certainly be a nice distration but I am still scarred from the drive to Daytona. If the airline prices are still too high by the time we are ready to purchase, driving will certainly be an option. I will just have to drug myself..just kidding (well, maybe).

Hi Everyone!!!

We'll be in Disney Nov 29th till Dec 8th. A Birthday gift for me.:woohoo:
This is our 3rd trip but first to see the Christmas decorations.

We are staying at POFQ.

I haven't told the kids yet. I'm going to trip to keep it a surprise.

Yay, for the surprise. I should have done that this trip but I couldn't help myself. When is your b-day? We will be there for my b-day as well which is 5 Dec.

That is what I like to hear :cheer2:. Sadly, when we were there the week after Thanksgiving in 06 my DS got really sick and had to spend 2 days in the hospital when we returned. I spent so much time worrying about him it is hard to remember much else. We still had a wonderful time before he got sick and it was beautiful, but the trip did not go as planned. FYI, licking the table leg at Hollywood and Vine is a great way to get the Norwalk virus. Boys...:confused3

Kids, lol!

So sorry to hear he got sick though, :(

That's one thing I'm really scared about.. is that either of my girls will be sick while we're down there.... planning on loading all of us up with vitamins for at least a few wks before we go.

Got my confirmation e-mail yesterday, so now just have to wait few months till I can start making the ADR's, etc.. :)

Have already started making my scrapbook pages, so that when we get back I can just stick the pictures in, and be done, lol.... I know my extended family's gonna want to see the pics, so this way they'll be organized.

I agree on the vitamins. On our last trip, my DD and I were in the bathroom at the Crystal Palace at lunch time when a mom came running in with a vomiting toddler. I felt so bad for her. She was covered!!! From that point on I was relentless with the handwashing and the Purell. Definately want to avoid that when you're there...and eating aaaaall that food.

What a great idea with the scrapbooking!!! I love that idea. I have 800 pictures from our last trip that I am planning to tackle soon. My goal is just to be done with the last trip by the time we go on the next one...318 days to go!!! How ambitious and smart of you to get it done BEFORE the trip.

We're going! Dec 2-10--Boardwalk villas with a boardwalk view, baby! Lmbo!
We just got written confirmation today.

It's taken this thread to pull me out of lurkdom. We've booked our trip from Nov. 29 - Dec. 5 at POR. Some of our friends really love this resort so we picked POR from their recs.

This will be the first time that DH and I have gone to WDW since we were in high school. We have two little girls, one who will be 5 and the other will be almost 2. I'm really excited and looking forward to go. Since DH's b-day is the 27th, we are going to celebrate his birthday during our trip.

It's funny that we are going b/c before we had kids DH declared that we were only going once when our kids were older so that we'd only make one trip. DH's boss went the week after Thanksgiving this past year and raved about it so much that DH has agreed for us to go. On top of that DH is excited to go. We are even talking about going on a Disney Cruise in the future.

You'll love Port Orleans Riverside! We stayed there this past September and we really loved it. It's so peaceful. Be sure to take time to stroll around. We arrived in the evening and all my kids could talk about is how they want to walk around in the daytime! Finally on our last day we had breakfast there, strolled around and took a swim. I really wished I had planned that sooner in the stay.

My Dh also wanted to do a "once in a lifetime " kind of trip....that was in 2005, we've gone every year since!! :lmao: I'm currently planning 08's trip. He's fully onboard now and looks forward to the trip. Have a great time!!

The fiance and I will be Disneymooning when the change of month comes (we're tying the knot the day after Thanksgiving).

Arriving in Orlando on the 29th. Hopping on the Disney Wonder on the 30th for a 4-day cruise. Then three days at the Polynesian. :love2:

Just made my reservations today! :D
