November/December 2008?

We are so excited. To get away from the Christmas family drama we said enough. We are taking our 3 kids to florida. We are booked 2 rooms at Pop from dec 20-27. I'm driving DH crazy with all the pics and menu readings and planning. I already have a notebook with all the info I've gathered from here. Now I hope I can convince DH to do this yearly!

I will take down the tree today, bringing Christmas 2007 to a close. (I'm sure that this point has already come and gone for most of you...I've been sick for two weeks and while I've thought about taking it down, I haven't actually gotten to it...lol) Today is the day! I went to the travel option to check on airfare and starting yesterday, prices are now up for 12/01/08. My ticker is now into 10 months...we're getting closer!!!
My trip is 12/6-12/13, when I made my reservation I was told 6/9/08 was 180days out.

where did you get quotes on airfare????

My internet provider is Comcast; they have a travel link, which I think it is run by Kayak.com. I punch in my info and everyday I am told it is too early to book airfare for the dates I am booked at Disney. Yesterday, the message I got said that I must be flying with 1/08-12/1/08. I am still not up to my dates but, I am into December, which is encouraging.

DH gets frequent flyer miles with his job. Travels lots. So far we have enough points for 3 free tickets. I'm hoping he gets enough for one more and then I'll only have to buy one. The baby and I will share a seat. When you use the FF miles, there are restrictions on what times you can fly, and we don't always get a great price on the ones we have to buy. Or the point value goes up and you only get 2 free tickets. Pros and cons.

:thumbsup2 Count our extended family in for Thanksgiving week!! :goodvibes

We are sooo excited with all the researching and anticipation to be going with our adult children, IL's, and grands :lovestruc! We are all flying down and have 6 rooms booked at Shades of Green. :)

Our DS's military orders are due any day and rumor has it they are being transferred. If so, sadly, they will probably not be able to join us due officer's training same time frame. We're trying not to let it put a damper on our family trip that we've had planned a long time now. :guilty:

:grouphug: Good luck and everyone have fun planning!

We'll be there EXACT same time....arriving the 4th, though, and checking out the 12th. 2 nights at AS Music Suites, then 6 nights at AKV. :)

Yesterday I changed my ressie.

I took the last 2 nights off of POR and put us at the CR!

I am so giddy. I loved staying there when I was a kid with my parents and sister. I hope my family enjoys it as well. I may have started something though..........:rolleyes1

Hello!!:wave2:

I just found this thread (thanks, Monica) and will be in the world 30 Nov - 7 Dec at SSR. We rented DVC points for a 2-bedroom, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that all will be fine. :scared:

Our travel party includes, DH, DS3, DS1, mom, dad, DMIL and DFIL. The IL's decided they wanted to be on the monorail and booked their stay at the Contemporary. I am trying not to be too envious. I love the Contemporary. As a kid, we always stayed at the Poly and I would love to stay there again but that is not in the cards.

I am really toying with the idea of driving instead of flying but I keep flashing back to our road trip to Daytona Beach when my oldest was 14mos old and I want to scream in horror :scared1: That was also the trip that I discovered I was pregnant with my second DS :goodvibes.

I look forward to getting to know all of you :flower3: .

Kim

We JUST did it, from CT. About a 22 hour drive with a 5 year old, a 3 year old, and a 15 month old. Straight, non-stop on the way down, and one stop 1/2 way home on the way back. My wife and I survived, sanity intact (or, as intact as it's ever been).

It wasn't TOO bad. The worst part was the kids (well, the older kids) pretty much refused to sleep on the way down (they were too excited)...They maybe slept for 2 or 3 hours of the total drive down. We finally gave up on trying to get them to sleep around 11 PM and just kept popping DVD's into the DVD player. Kept them relativley quiet, and happy, the rest of the drive.

The drive home was cake. We drove from 2:30 PM til a bit after midnight, bedded down for about 7 hours, and then drove the rest of the way home the next day.

The "best" part was that we paid, WITH meals and hotel rooms (and the exhorbitant gas prices) about 1/2 what it would've cost us to fly.. Once the baby needs her own seat (next year), we'll end up paying LESS than 1/2 the price of flying. That, to me, makes the car ride worth it.

I'm planning to be at the CBR with DH, DD & DS 12/22-12/26. :cool1: DH saw my ticker and said I'm as bad as the kids and to stop wishing the year away, but I can't help it. I'm so excited. :yay: I'll be a year older b4 I know it, but who cares, we're going to Disney!!!

There are so many things I want to do. I haven't quite figured out where we'll be eating yet, but I've been told I can call at 7AM on Sunday, June 15 for my 12/22 PS.:woohoo:

Anyone who'll be down there on Christmas Day; let's make it a big, family atmosphere. Let me know what you'll be doing. :santa:
