November 9, 2008 4 day Wonder- who's in?

I wonder how full our sailing will be. My sister, nephew and I were in a sideways cat. 11 on deck 6 when we last cruised on the Wonder in 2000. It was great. Plenty of space in that room. I would have gone for an inside room this time but I tend to get a bit of motion sickness and I felt that a balcony might be good for it. Besides this in my first trip in 3 years so I thought I'd make it memorable. My sister and I went on RCCL in 2001 and we had a window. I think it helped me but I also took bonine the whole time. I also plan to take it this time.

Hello everyone,

I finally completed my pre-boarding paperwork and had a question that maybe someone may know.

Why does Disney want to know where I am going after the cruise? Do they let those flying off earlier than those driving or going to Disney? My husband wants to get off as early as possible so we can get to Disney early. So another question is - can we keep our luggage in our room the last night and take them with us in the morning?

My mom is going to help me make a fis extender - I am lucky I can sew a button on a shirt but she is a very crafty person.

I took the boys out today to finsih their cruise shopping - now we just have to pack.

I can't believe how close it is now!

Dawn -

Honestly, I don't have the answer to why Disney wants to know where you're going afterwards. I've never heard of them allowing any group off before another. You can start heading off the ship as soon as the Captain makes the announcement, usually between 7:30 - 8:00. You'll have an assigned breakfast time for the last morning, which is based on your dining rotation time. The main seating eats EARLY (like 6:30ish) which is one disadvantage of main seating. There is the option of going up to Deck 9 to eat there or grab something quickly. The rotation helps to keep the traffic even.

Yes, you can keep your luggage til the morning. But if you go to the restaurants you'll need to take it with you. You need to be out of your stateroom by 8am because the stateroom hosts need to turn every single room over for the next guests by 1pm!

***A big tip for everyone putting their luggage out the night before***:
MAKE SURE YOU KEEP CLOTHES FOR THE MORNING. There have been many sightings of guests leaving in jammies (adults and kids) and even shoeless because they forgot to leave themselves clothes!!!:rotfl:

Thank you TiggerzFan - we have the early dinner time so we can either eat early and bring out luggage with us or just eat off the ship - my husband wants to get to Disney early to begin that part of the trip even though we probably won't be able to check in till late afternoon.

How is the Fe Exchange list coming? I was out this weekend and picked up a few things but I am sure I will have to get more. How will it work - will each person have a day to give or will it be give something small each day?

I started packing today - got alot of my clothes together. Can't believe how close it is now.

I believe the answer is twofold: 1. It is required by U.S. Customs. 2. If the ship is delayed and arrives later than scheduled they can allow those who have tight connections off first.

If you are going to WDW, your fastest option (although it will only save a short amount of time) is to drive to, and park at, the port, do breakfast at Topsiders, keep and carry off your bags as soon as they open the gangway. Have fun!!

How is the Fe Exchange list coming?

Dawn

We're off to a slow start, but I am hopeful a few more DISers will join in. So far, just the 6 names I posted last week for a total of 11 adults, 5 kids (3-11), 2 teen boys. Even with six it can be fun... it still means 5 (or more) surprise deliveries to your Fish Extender. Participation is generally smaller on The Wonder - shorter cruise and more first timers who do not know about it.

There are no rules or expectations on delivering gifts. You can deliver once, twice or every day, whatever you wish. My girls and I REALLY enjoy this and so usually deliver more than once - that's just us. Gifts can be individual or for the stateroom. You can choose to tag your gifts or remain anonymous. Again, no rules, anything goes. Just have FUN!
:flower3:

ANYONE ELSE WANT TO JOIN? Just PM (pvt message) me with info.

Woohoo! I started working on my FE gifts already :) Getting excited!!

Has anyone ever done laundry while on the ship? I know that sounds strange, but with 3 nights at WDW before and 3 nights after, somewhere in the middle we're going to have to do at least a load of laundry. Otherwise the baggage fees will kill us!

I started to get stuff for the FE exchange and then my boys said 'well do you know how many you should be getting?' so that is what made me ask. I am trying to get some fun things and I would like to get something from the New England area so I have more shopping to do this weekend. This is going to be exciting. I did mention the FE exchange to my in-laws since we are traveling with my husbands whole family but so far I haven't heard anything from them.

Dawn -

I'm a New Englander myself - from the South Shore. We just moved to Central Florida last August. So yes, a Pats, Red Sox, etc fan, though this is a sad time in Red Sox Nation.
My husband is from the Philly area, and we did live there for 8 years, so he is super excited about the World Series.

Christine

Christine - I did laundry once on a 7-night cruise! I had to do it late night to be able to get a machine but it was fine. I had packed a few dryer sheets in a ziploc but bought my detergent there for $1.00. Bring quarters for the machines!
There is also an iron in the laundry rooms if anyone needs to iron. They do not allow irons in the staterooms.

I received my cruise docs the other day. I have already checked in online. Getting stuff together to pack. I'll probably do laundry on the ship as well. Maybe we should have a Dis meet in the laundry room. Ha Ha. I wish I knew if it is going to be warm while I'm in FL though because I have experienced both extremes of temp. there in Nov. and Dec. Last time we went near Christmas time I thought I was going to freeze. I don't mind so much being hot but I absolutely hate feeling cold.

I've got my FE stuff ready but couldn't really come up with a regional idea. I live in South Carolina near the NC border. Mostly they grow tobacco and cotton around here but I didn't think I should stash cigarettes in the FE's. Food items might be difficult to transport as well. So no regional flair to my gifts, sorry. I did try to be creative, though.

When you are taking the cruise transfers to the parks or hotels, it will take a while. You are better off to find your own transfers. Our 1st cruise, we booked a limo w/ the 9 other family members that were w/ us and we got off 1st thing and then headed to the airport. 2nd cruise we stayed at the Swan & Dolphin 1nite post stay and used the Disney cruise bus, by they dropped everyone else off before finally getting to our hotel - it took about 2 hours. Our girls were testy and tired because they kept stopping for every hotel.

There is a great Limo co. that has pricing just for cruisers...Happy Limo in Orlando,FL
