November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

Piece of cake ; ) But.... we play you all on the 15th...must get off the boat early and watch that game. Should be a great game!!!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

You're getting us confused with those pathetic bunch of bums two hours south of the glory land that is Clemson.

We don't even acknowledge their existence.

I've never been impressed with the wine tasting so I'll pass on that but the Margarita tasting would be cool! We will def have to check that out!! Yeah the Martini tasting was a little much for us  what a memory! I'm also so excited to get back on the Magic!

Mark and I will be driving down friday night but I'm still nor sure what the plan is on when we will be leaving. It would be nice to meet everyone there for dinner. I'll keep you and the fam update on when we plan to leave here that friday. I so can't wait!!!!

Can't wait to see you it has been a while. If I find the Margarita tasting we'll go.
:thumbsup2

Most of the people in our family so more for the evening gown and men in suits. We rarely get the chance to dress so nice and it makes great pictures to send for the holidays.
As for suitcases, I try and arrange all my outfits to use the same 3 pairs of shoes. This is why I start packing months ahead of time to make sure I have outfits that will use the same shoes. Try to stick with one pair of nice shoes (if you can), like black or brown. I also pack a casual shoe walking shoe and comfortable walking sandals. Its hard to get all the outfits to use so few shoes but you can always buy a few extra tops or bottoms to make it work. Hope that helps!

:thumbsup2 Good idea about the 3 pairs of shoes. I'm going to try and use it to pack my clothes. Thanks for the tip!

Thats great!! I just picked up some material from Joanns and I think it cost me $7.00, and I still have to make it and get the dowel!!

I think I am going to go to JoAnns also. Hey did anyone also hear about AC Moore Crafts going bankrupt. I couldn't believe it. It seems that from October on you can't get into the store without bumping carts with someeone. Oh well may want to keep your eyes open for deals there if you have one in your area.
By the way, ask Skylynx how she was able to post her formal picture of her family. That may help you with posting the map.

I'm still here reading the posts :surfweb: ... I just haven't had much time to post lately. I made my brunch (Sunday at 10:30) and high tea (Thursday) reservations for Palo last weekend :cheer2: . My husband agreed to go with me to high tea, in case no one else wants to go. I still think a few of us girls would have a nice time or maybe a few couples... if any other husbands are game. I can't remember if there are tables for larger groups at Palo and I'm not sure how we would have a bunch of different reservations and ask to be seated together. Anyone else know? Anyone else going on those days?

I've been trying to keep my planning to a minimum because I still feel like it is so far away but I can't help myself :confused3 .

So what is everyone else up to? Chat with you soon.

Gretchen

I would love to go to the high tea but didn't get a chance to make reservations. Now I hear they are all booked up. I think when I get on the ship I'll put my name on the waiting list for a cancelation. Maybe I'll luck out and get the same day as you. :)

Just noticed there's an air show featuring the Blue Angels on 11/8. Maybe we'll see something from the port/ship on Sat. They don't have a schedule yet.

Still trying to decide whether to stay in Cocoa Beach upon return and head to Kennedy for the day, or go to Seaworld or Universal Studios. We depart Sun. at noon. Any suggestions/thoughts welcome.

The airshow is the main reason we are staying at Cocoa Beach the night before instead of up at WDW...worried there might be morning traffic en route from Orlando to Canaveral on Saturday.

We should be able to see the air show from on deck. My DH is a private pilot and flying nut, so he's so excited about a chance to see at least part of the show from the ship. We're also going on St. Maarten day to Maho Beach again where the jets virtually land on your head at Sunset Beach Bar at the end of the runway. So he should get his "airplane fix" this trip, for sure!

Good point about staying over; I hadn't thought of that. We're booked at the Hyatt since our flight doesn't get in until 6 pm. I'll just schedule transpo for earlier in anticipationo of traffic - thanks for the heads up!

Sillysully
You are most welcome...don't know if things will be nearly the same traffic wise for the airshow but my DH has been to two shuttle launches at Cape Canaveral and both times the Beeline/Beachline was crawling for miles and miles. We don't know how popular the airshow will be, so we opted to just skip the whole deal and stay portside. I'm sure if you leave early you won't get stuck.

Well, the FE came but it has a stain on the top ribbon. Seller says to send it back for a new one but since the original shipping was ten times the price of the FE I may not. Maybe I will hot glue some sparkles or something to personalize it and I want to put our name somewhere too.

Otherwise it is cute and DD will be pleased.

That sounds like a perfect way to fix that stain. Personalize it with something that will cover it. Hope everyone is fine. Did anyone on this thread go through that storm? Hope that no one had any big problems! The pics I saw online showed an area called Melbourne. My deceased Great Aunt and Great Uncle retired from NYC to that area in 1965. I have been there so I know the area. I couldn't believe all of the flooding. It is a shame that there has been so much flooding in that part of the country the last few years.
Well, just wanted to pop in to see how everyone is.
Hey in 75 days I'll be boarding a plane headed for FLORIDA  and then it is off to the Magic for some Magical Days!!!:cool1:
Have a great rest of the weekend everyone.

You are very good on your guess. Tiger is for Clemson tiger and if you look closely Tink is wearing purple and orange. Yeah I saw the schedule the other day, can't believe I'll miss that game. Will def have to check in diversions! Can't wait for football to begin!!
Chris

We did not care for the wine tasting the last two times and are considering the Margarita tasting this time. Maybe we can do it together??

What part of SC are you from? Our dd and her dh are from Summerville and they will be with us.

I am getting really excited for this trip. Football season begins Sunday and it will be over when we leave for vacation, so that should really keep us busy!:cheer2:

I'm really not all that familiar with SC b/c I really am only a grad student here. I go to Clemson, so that is who I scream for :) I can't wait for football season as well! So close!!! We will def have a group for margarita tasting if we can find it. Or we could do our own :rotfl: I look forward to meeting you and your family!

I haven't been posting, and I just caught up over the weekend. I've been so busy!!!!! I really shouldn't be on hear now since I'm at work. Oh well, here goes anyway...
Question for all of you return cruisers. I wanted to do Palo brunch for my mom's B-Day (4 days after return. she's going home I'm going to WDW) I feel a litle guilty about that. As a new DCL cruiser I new it was unlikely I would get the chance to book at 75 days, and as you all know it was full long before that. Now for my question...Should I try for it first thing when we board, or should I try to make some sort of alternate plan? :confused3
There was still Palo dinner available as of 1:00 am, but I don't know what nights or times, and I don't know what night would be best to book.
I think I just need some advice from a DCL veteran. :worship:
Thanks!
Fran

I just checked (12:15PM) and this is what is available for dinner at Palo's:
Day 1: Port Canaveral
6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30

Day 4: St. Maarten
6:00, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00

Day 5: St. Thomas
6:00, 9:00

Day 7: Castaway Cay
6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30

I think you can book dinner online (brunch still not available on line) and then try for brunch on the ship. I think someone mentioned how nice it to have dinner at Palo's when the ship is in port or leaving as you can see all the lights. Hope this helps.

My suggestion is to do both. Head straight for Rockin Bar D once you get onboard and try and get one of the elusive brunch reservations. They will be hard to get though, even if you go straight there. Have an alternate plan ready just in case.

As for when you should book Palo's dinner, that's a tough one. Embarkation night is still wide open as is the last night of the cruise. Only other nights with availability are Tuesday and Wednesday, and you'll have to be a little flexible about when you want to eat then. But I would definitely go ahead and book dinner now. If you want to cancel you can always cancel as soon as you get onboard. They will have a long waiting list ready to take your spot by that time.

I'm still at work, and I don't have all of my info, so I can't log onto DCL right now, but I guess that's probably the best plan. I've heard good things about dinner on the last night, do you think it would better not to skip dinner that night?

We are booked on the nov8 cruise & a friend told me about this board...I had NO IDEA there was so much to know, to get, to do! I am traveling with (let's see if I get this right) m dh & ds(4 1/2). I would love to meet mom's with kids Jake's age. I will also start with an eas question. What in the world is a FISH EXtENDER & where do I get one????:confused3

Hi and Welcome Stiners! I found the disboards a couple of weeks ago myself when a friend told me about them. I've learned that doing a search for anything you may have questions about typically provides an answer! In fact, the fish extenders is a good place to start as there's lots of pictures of others on the disboard threads. I just ordered mine through ebay from Dawn Sparks since I don't have the time to make my own. Let me know if you want her info - she's a bit more expensive but will customize however you want...

This is our second cruise and our first Disney Cruise. My dd will be 4 yrs old a week before the cruise so I'm sure she and your ds will play!

Ok- So I'm waiting months and months to wait to try to get ressies for Palos and what happens... I was at a 40th b-day party the night before, trying to keep up with my friends:drinking1 ( who have older kids and a better social life than myself at the time) and I wind up with a hangover and forget:mad: . So I just remembered and took ressies for the last night dinner. I will try to change them on the ship. If I remembered this am,Wed at 6 would have been fine. Oh well. If we keep these ressies, what will we miss at dinner that night. We can still make the Farewell in the lobby.

At least I had a good time at the party, saw some friends I haven't seen in a while. Kids go back to school next week so busy with Orientations etc.

Bye for now. Bo
