November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

I just checked (12:15PM) and this is what is available for dinner at Palo's:
Day 1: Port Canaveral
6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30

Day 4: St. Maarten
6:00, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00

Day 5: St. Thomas
6:00, 9:00

Day 7: Castaway Cay
6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30

I think you can book dinner online (brunch still not available on line) and then try for brunch on the ship. I think someone mentioned how nice it to have dinner at Palo's when the ship is in port or leaving as you can see all the lights. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! I decide to try to book Day 5, but by the time I got home from work and logged on (I made the mistake of throwing dinner in the microwave first so it was about 9:00) all that was left was one time slot on Tue, first night and last night. Well It's a week and a half before her bday, but I booked Port canaveral night. I would have rather met the dining room staff, but I guess that will wait until Sun. At least I got something. I'll watch for cancellations, doubt that will happen, but you never know.
Now that I've got most of my Nov activitie planned, I guess now I can start planning my Oct adventure. I've been neglecting that one. I've got a huge charity event to plan for.

Ok- So I'm waiting months and months to wait to try to get ressies for Palos and what happens... I was at a 40th b-day party the night before, trying to keep up with my friends:drinking1 ( who have older kids and a better social life than myself at the time) and I wind up with a hangover and forget:mad: . So I just remembered and took ressies for the last night dinner. I will try to change them on the ship. If I remembered this am,Wed at 6 would have been fine. Oh well. If we keep these ressies, what will we miss at dinner that night. We can still make the Farewell in the lobby.

At least I had a good time at the party, saw some friends I haven't seen in a while. Kids go back to school next week so busy with Orientations etc.

Bye for now. Bo
Bummer on the scheduling - but on the other hand, I stayed up Sunday night until midnight to book Palo and there really wasnt that many choices even then. There was only dinner available even then. (no brunch or tea) We booked 9pm on the semi-formal night (thursday). I figure we can always try to change on board. I did have pretty good luck with the spa reservations I wanted but even those were disappearing fast at midnight onwards.

Hello SillySully, please post a report when you return. We are going on the Thanksgiving cruise, a few weeks after you return. How is your family? Hope all is well!

Welcome aboard stiners!!!

GOOFYFD Hi!! Where in Ca are you from? We're here in SoCal about 30 mins away from DL. How is Old School Pooh Fan? Is she having a girl or another boy?

We are booked on the nov8 cruise & a friend told me about this board...I had NO IDEA there was so much to know, to get, to do! I am traveling with (let's see if I get this right) m dh & ds(4 1/2). I would love to meet mom's with kids Jake's age. I will also start with an eas question. What in the world is a FISH EXtENDER & where do I get one????:confused3

Hi my son will be 5 right after the cruise. His name is Patrick. I'm sure the boys will get to play alot. On our last cruise Ds would wake up in the morning and ask to go to the Club. He hated it when we came to get him. He was only 3 at the time so I know he'll get even more out of it the time.

Welcolm to all the new guys. I have been away house sitting--Pandamom don't laugh, so I haven't been able to check in for a while and now we're planning DD's 1st birthday party so it will be a few more days untill I can read more. Hope everyone is doing well and starting to pack. We only have 2 1/2 wks. left. I can't wait.

So I now know what a fish finder is...:cool1: but since it is our first cruise I think I will start with some Pirate paraphenalia pirate: and work my way up to fish finder status on the next cruise...I will be happy just to be packed in time.
floridamom & borntocruise - can't wait to get the dd & ds's together - glad to hear about the club too.:yay:
goofyfd, zoom thanks too for your welcome posts.
gotta go look for excursion stuff - any suggestions when having a 4 1/2 yr old along? alot of the cutoff ages seem to be five...

Hi Stiners - I had the same issue with most of the Disney excursions being for 5 years old and up. I wasn't that enthusiastic about the ones that were offered either. So a couple of weeks ago, I searched the DisBoards and researched the non-DCL excursions. I ended up finding two really great excursions - one for St. Maarten and one for St. Thomas that sounded fun for both us and our 4 year old dd. We booked a trip on The Lord Sheffield pirate ship (http://www.stmaarten-shoretrips.com/...atecruise.html) for St. Maarten and we booked a trip with Godfrey Tours including shopping, Coki Beach, and Coral World (http://godfreytoursvi.com) for St. Thomas. Let me know if you book either of them. Have a great day.

I haven't been posting, and I just caught up over the weekend. I've been so busy!!!!! I really shouldn't be on hear now since I'm at work. Oh well, here goes anyway...
Question for all of you return cruisers. I wanted to do Palo brunch for my mom's B-Day (4 days after return. she's going home I'm going to WDW) I feel a litle guilty about that. As a new DCL cruiser I new it was unlikely I would get the chance to book at 75 days, and as you all know it was full long before that. Now for my question...Should I try for it first thing when we board, or should I try to make some sort of alternate plan? :confused3
There was still Palo dinner available as of 1:00 am, but I don't know what nights or times, and I don't know what night would be best to book.
I think I just need some advice from a DCL veteran. :worship:
Thanks!
Fran

We tried to book the brunch as well but it was full. We are just going to get to the ship early and book it on board when we get on. That is the best advice for you right now. We will be waiting in line with you :)

Welcome to our board, stiners! Get that fish extender and join in. It is so much fun and easy to do. Everyone will help out if you have any qestions. This board is just wonderful. :disrocks:

I have been "away" painting bedrooms! Not much fun, but things are beginning to come together and after I get the things back on the walls I am going to post some pictures of my Mickey bedrooms. They are really looking nice! When it is all over, even though you are exhausted, you feel good!:confused3 .

No matter what, I am taking off Sunday to celebrate my birthday!:dance3:

We had to re-book dd and her dh flight. It took about an hour and a half on the phone. They changed their flight schedule again and had them flying home at 10:00 am on November 15 (that is my dh's birthday). I don't think that would work so we canceled that whole flight and booked with another airline. What an evening on the phone that was! It will probably take three months to get the refund!:scared1:

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. We have had some much needed rain, but I think it is supposed to be nice for the weekend.

Pixie Dust- :bday: Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your day. Can't wait to see pics of your Mickey room.

Two months until we leave for the park. One week there then the cruise. Starting to finish up shopping and all my lists. I make a ton. Everyone have a great weekend.

Bo

Pixie Dust:bday: My Dd's 1st birthday was today, we just had a small dinner and cupcakes (boy was that messy) Hope you enjoy your day

Not sure if I did this correctly or not. (Hope so!)
I am one of the friends of Mega Mouse House and will be traveling with my son & my mom has booked her own room as well!

Son Mike will be turning 12 in September, he's glad he has one more trip with the younger generation before he is a teen. I'm glad too!

This is our 3rd DCL cruise, Mega Mouse house & I usually make it a room of 4 so this will be nice with our own room!!!!

Still reading all of the posts! The meet sounds fun & trying to see if I can find a Fish Extender & seeing if I can find enough gifts... or think of something for gifts... we'll see.

Can't wait until November!!!!!!

I've never been impressed with the wine tasting so I'll pass on that but the Margarita tasting would be cool! We will def have to check that out!! Yeah the Martini tasting was a little much for us  what a memory! I'm also so excited to get back on the Magic!

Mark and I will be driving down friday night but I'm still nor sure what the plan is on when we will be leaving. It would be nice to meet everyone there for dinner. I'll keep you and the fam update on when we plan to leave here that friday. I so can't wait!!!!

Hey Tiger Tink & Wendy Lover,
I think that was the other person who mentioned margarita tasting, anyways, if not... I apologize for getting the screen name messed up. Anyways, Mega Mouse House & I were just talking earlier because we attended a margarita tasting on our last Dis Cruise.... We hope you like Tequila, because it should be named Tequila and Margarita Tasting... There were 3 shots for each of us, one lesser quality, one middle quality, and one good quality. Then there were 2 margaritas, one regular and I think the other was strawberry. The margaritas were fine, but neither of us expected to have Tequila shots.

I'm wondering what was the issue with Martini tasting and Wine tasting? Care to give generic details???

Besides, we did learn a lot about tequila, and we sort of know what to look for if we ever buy it, too bad it's neither of our drinks of choice. But now that I know what to expect, I might be persuaded to attend again, especially because another friend who will be a 1st time Dis Cruiser does enjoy tequila. We'll see, I don't know if we can talk Tracy into it again...
