November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Howdy all,
boy what a change in our weather overnight. It wasnt predicted but we are cool and cloudy with a change of showers later today. Now they are saying 70 degrees, last night it was 85?
This is much nicer, hope it stays a couple of days.

Traci I am with you. I am ready to go right now:goodvibes
But I dont have my FE gifts yet, so guess that wont work too well.
As usual the gifts and my door signs and such will be last minute. I do that on purpose. It keeps me busy to pass the L O N G days just beforel eaving for the cruise.

I will be checking back around noon then off to clean moms house and hopefully go and have a good visit too. Then Sunday is the state fair:yay:

Just a reminder to a couple of you who were looking for a photo to add to the list, please have a look this weekend. Next week I will be sending out a revised version of the list.

Rick I hope you can send me your information by then too, so the list will be complete. If you dont have a photo, thats ok, just send the info for now.
Thanks everyone,

Kathy

Actually, I had hoped to be able to do some laundry during that turnaround time but now that they have decided to make the machines use your key for payments, that may be sort of tricky.

Does anyone know how much laundry costs? I seem to remember $1 for wash and $1 for dry, but I could be wrong. I know soap is extra too.

It has gone up to $2 each plus you can only swipe your card now - which is really sort of crappy. Washing isn't an issue but I used to be able to put like a 1.50 in the dryer and have it run extra without having it have to run twice as long.

Yeah, I was planning on laundry then too. I'll bet it will still work, if we start it early enough in the AM

What cabin are you in? We are in 6311. I had hoped to put my laundry in before we went down to breakfast and then move it to the dryers after but I may have to start earlier - or after we board again.

I booked our DCL transportation back to MCO earlier this afternoon after that second cruise (I feel some scratching in my future) - just one more thing off my list. I also rechecked rental cars for Nov 6-7 and they are higher than what I currently have, which I thought was high so I guess I should just keep my mouth shut and be happy with our current reservations.

Did everyone get your airline tickets yet? Tim and I are still messing around with that. We also werent really sure if we NEEDED passports..

What does everyone else think? We dont want to have to spend extra money on them if we dont need to. Tim thinks we should but I am kinda not sure about it.

I know its the weekend and not many get on but if you have any opinions let me know. Nathan decided he was not going to his dads house this weekend which was a first. But I am not going to force him to go. Tim is at the station and I honestly think this dog doesnt really likes me. I know I sound silly but she bites nate and I something fierce:eek:. She is great with Tim.:confused3

thanks

DH and I have passports (have had them forever), but not the girls. The safe route is to always have a passport, however, this cruise is pretty low risk being that we don't really leave US territory, except for Castaway. In a closed loop cruise (we return to the same port), they are not required.
A passport would come into play if you were in a foreign port and for some reason needed to fly home from there.
Now, in the event that weather turned our cruise into a Western itinerary (as happened on last week's Eastern)........ well, then there is a bit more risk - but again, only in an emergency situation.

It's a tough call and those darn passports are expensive!

Traci, that's because Tim is leader of the pack. You must establish yourself as a pack leader too, now, while she's a puppy. Otherwise you are going to have big trouble later, and we'll see you on the 'dog whisperer' lol.

Passports - If it was me, I'd get 'em. That being said, you *can* live without them.

Gail, we're on 5 - I think we're going to have to either go up or down to the laundry - don't think there's one on 5. It's near the theatre, but I can't remember the number.

I'd get passports. It is a lot less than the cost of this vacation! And of course you'd only need it in case of an emergency- but nobody ever thinks they'll be the one to have one! Plus, they're good for 10 years. JMO. :goodvibes

Hi Everyone!

Something fun happened at work today... I have three wipe off calendars at my desk and I had kind of let them slip lately, so I updated them today with Sept, Oct and November. So I got to write on there that I am going sailing with Mickey! :cool1: It's getting closer all the time! :cheer2:

On the subject of passports, you might want to check if you need one to fly back into the US from any of our ports. In the event of a medical emergency, the last thing you want is to be held up because of passport requirements. :sad2:
In 2008 when we went to WDW, you could still drive across the Canada/US border with just photo ID, and we thought about not getting passports b/c what a hassle and expense, when we drive over and fly from Detroit anyway. DMIL said, "okay but what if there is an emergency and you have to fly straight back home?" I said good point and got passports. I guess it is not the same thing in this case since you are really not leaving your country, but anyway, something to consider.

We are off to get our kiddies back from grandma and grandpa tomorrow. :cloud9: I miss them so much, I can't wait to see them again.

Our FE is almost done after much fussing and trial and error... now I get to start working on the gifts to go inside!

We are going to try to dress in all black & white for formal night, which means (oh darn) that I might need a new dress. :rolleyes1 DD too, she has nothing suitable at all... what fun!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. It has suddenly turned cold like the fall here and it's raining tonight. Ick. Fingers crossed for the warm weather to come back for next weekend, it's a long weekend here... I think also in the US right? :goodvibes

TTYS!

Wow crazy weather Laurie! It's hot as blazes here. And smoky, with all the fires. But we're used to that- fall is "fire season" in SoCal.

FUN to go get new dresses!! I love the idea of a matching look. How cool it will look in pictures.

Nope, we don't have Labor Day weekend for another week. It's the first Monday in September. I could use that right now though! :rolleyes1

My friends were on a cruise when her father died. They had to fly home from St. Thomas. As former military, of course they had passports. They may not have needed them, but it was one less thing they had to worry about.

Good Morning, Everybody! Hope y'all have a Happy Saturday!

Thank you everyone for the reply's about the passports. I guess we need to get moving on them this week. I am not even sure why I thought not to get them. As a mom we are always trying to be as prepared as we can. So thanks again disfamily:grouphug:. We are so excited about the cruise. But now it seems like we have so much left to do to get ready.

We have no formal night atire. I need to buy a dress:eek:. Well I hope everyone has a great weekend. It is hot hot hot here in Texas.

Traci - my vote would be to get passports as well. Better safe than sorry I say - and they are good for 10 years. And on the puppy front - she needs to stop that now or there will be huge issues down the road. She needs to think of all of you as her alpha, not just Tim. Some of that is the terrier in her too I bet. Good luck but lots of love (and tough love if needed) and patience and she will come around.

So, by my count, we sail ten weeks from today! Can you beleive it? We are heading into single digits! :cool1::banana::dance3::banana::cool1:

Hello from Cleveland! We drove out of the rain along around Rochester and into the sunshine. Until I went out to get something from the van about 20 minutes ago. While I was out some one turned on the faucet. Yuck. Wet hair at bedtime :(

Hope y'all had a good day!

Where is everyone? Do you guys have a life or something? Well I am yet alone again. Tim is at the station today. I miss him when he is gone. It takes some time to get used to him being gone for 24 hrs at a time. Just when I think I am used to it...I'm wrong.:sad2:

Things are getting a little better with our puppy. She is teething so hince the bitting us like crazzy. We are working hard with her and plan to take her to puppy classes as soon as she is old enough.

Tim and I went shopping for somethings for the cruise. I think he is starting to get really excited about it. Its still hard keeping it from Nate. I cant wait to tell him.

So we have decided to apply for our passports this week and get the airline tickets booked. So girls I have not behaved food wise:rolleyes1. So I am not very happy to get a dress. Anyway gotta run just wanted to check in this morning. Have a great day guys.:thumbsup2

Linda - you were not far from my folks in Elyria if you were in Cleveland. Sorry about the rain though. We had lots yesterday but as I look out the window now, I see blue skies. We are only supposed to be in the lower 60's today but that is OK with me - love that sort of weather and it makes for great sleeping at night as it dips down into the 50's.

Traci - glad she is only teething, just sorry she uses you and Nate for a teething ring.

DH and I met up with our DCL friends that live down by Lansing last night for dinner at Hooters - they guy just love that, wonder why :confused3??? They are cruising in 3 weeks for their 25th wedding anniversary. I tried really hard to get them to move it to this cruise but I failed. Oh well - just means I have more DCL cruises in my future.

We also spent some time at the mall - DH ended up with new shoes and a few new shirts, me nothing but I don't really need anything either. Then we went to Micheal's and I got more stuff for my FE gifts. Soon I should have enough gathered to begin putting them together.

Everyone enjoy their day - DH is making chili so pretty soon I best get my contribution together - strawberry shortcake and cornbread. Maybe I will do the shortcake for chili leftovers for dinner. At any rate, there goes that diet - right out the window.

Just a bump back to the top - we are about to fall to page two and you all know how I feel about that!

Well, I got really brave today and booked the Waverunner excursion at CC for David and myself. I have never driven (is that even what one does with them) one but it can't be that complicated. I am really looking forward to it. But that was the only exciting thing I have done today - unless you consider running the vac exciting. Not me.

Take care all.

Yes we do not need to be on page two! I am so surprised we have not had any newcommers to our thread. I got out all of the items I have been picking up for FE gifts for the kids and man I went overboard. But I have been picking up stuff here and there for a while now. Tim knew I had lots of stuff but not that much.

Just need to work on my adults/family FE gifts. Well have a good night. Kathy get back on here and post. We miss ya!

Tonight, we're in Columbus. Today we went to the Franklin park Conservatory to the Chihuly exhibit. He's the glass artist who made the atrium chandeliers for the Magic and the Wonder. Then we had a trip through 28 room bookstore in German Village and dinner at Schmittz wurst haus. FUN day!
