November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Good Morning, Everybody!

Traci, I'm gonna go all "mom" on you - that is NO proper dinner young lady! You're going to be tired today after such pitiful fuel last night.

Both Shirley and Norm have been ill - they're in their 70's, so it's worrisome.

Kathy, I knew this thread would get even livlier with you on it. Did you get the chance to visit the scrapbook thread?

Not much to report. Had the A/C serviced on the van yesterday - something leaked, and the repair was $900. OUCH!

Happy day, All!

Howdy Donna,

Nice to meet you.:goodvibes
Where do you live in Florida ? We have a house in Fruitland Park, next to leesburg, although we are living in Oregon for awhile. The recession leftus jobless there so came back to Oregon and got work and rented our place.

I know it seem like after so many cruises it would not be so exciting, but I get more excited now than I did to begin with. I guess its because i know what a great time we will all have.:yay:
Kathy

Kathy -

We live in Oviedo, FL - just to the northeast of Orlando. We moved here 2 years ago from the northeast (Boston and Philly) and love it! We're a little under an hour to both the parks and the port. :cool2:

Yes, I agree. Each cruise is exciting and we always seem to have different traveling buddies with us - once just the 4 of us but other times family members, out-of-state friends, local friends or any combination of those, so it's always a bit different. And, now with both girls being able to go to the Oceaneer's Club, we can get short breaks to spend in Quiet Cove, etc.

Have a great day everyone!

Traci,

you sound just like my wife before we had our son. I would be traveling or at work late and when I would call in and ask what she had for dinner the reply would be chips and salsa. It used to drive me nuts. Now I have come to peace with it.

Morning everyone,

Donna, I know where Oveido is. I have driven though it before. Its nice being that close to WDW, the port and other attractions isnt it. We had annual passes for everywhere and went out every weekend to enjoy the area.
I miss that. But someday will be back again.:goodvibes

Linda I havnt had a chance to look at the site yet. Hopefully today. I put it on my favorites so I can easily get to it. My mom was taken to the hospital yesterday in pretty bad shape so I was preoccupied most of the evening and night. I am looking forward to exploring it soon:thumbsup2

sshaw10060,
we havnt met yet and you didnt sign your name. I am Kathy and DH is Greg.
What is your name? I am trying to get aquainted here and still learning who is who.?

Back later,

Kathy

Kathy, we're going to take a taxi to the botanical garden on St. Croix. Then maybe beach, or not. The two little ones aren't really old enough for an excursion on a bus, so there'll be a lot of 'winging it' going on, if you wanted to join us.

Now that you're aboard, we won't hit page two so much, lol.

What ever do you mean??:rolleyes1 :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
You know me to well.

Thanks for the invite. We are still deciding what to do but i will certainly keep it in mind. Thanks,
Kathy

Well thanks for going all mom on me. I still need it sometimes. I do know better thats why I said I'm only telling my dis family :rolleyes1. I was too tired and didnt feel like cooking or making anything for just me. But I will try to do better.:cutie:

Hope everyone is doing ok. I was so tired last night I came home from work slept almost two hours and then slept all night. I guess I really needed the sleep.

My honey will be home tonight and I am happy to see him:cloud9:. So another crazy day at work. But in all fairness if it wasnt crazy we wouldnt know what to do with ourselves:sad2:. Not sure if I spelled that right but whatever. Everyone be good and I will check in later.

I only had a bowl of cereal tonight but that may be better than the chips. I have to meet David half way to camp tonight as he forget to renew his prescriptions and guess who was left to deal with that. MEN - what are we gonna do???

Does everyone that can make their reservations know what they are going to do Sunday morning? I am all ready. Now to just decide if I want to treck into town and do it from the office on the fast network or stay home and hope. Might not decide until Saturday evening.

Well, I'm willing to admit that I've had a night here and there (when DH is away) of having cereal, or just a sandwich, for dinner. It happens. And it does feel darn good to not mess up the kitchen!

I am Scott and I am traveling with Pam, Otto (DS2), my mom and her partner. My MIL and FIL were going to join us, but he has lymphoma and will be getting a chemo treatment rather than cruising.

Howdy Scott,
nice to meet you and your family.:goodvibes

We are finally getting a nice cool day today. 70 is perfect.:thumbsup2

This weekend I hope we will decide on our excursions. Tough decisions for us.
Plus I need to decide on my FE gifts?

Have a great day fellow cruisers,

Kathy

Wow I can't tell you what I would give for it to be in the
70's. Yesterday when I left work to go home it said 110. And I am not joking. It was so hot I felt like I couldnt breathe.

Hope everyone is doing ok today. I hope everyone is getting excited about the cruise. I cant wait to schedule the excursions. It will seem like we are really going. And the week before I will be a mess. Keeping the secret from Nathan is hard. I know that when school starts the time will go by so fast.

Oh, I'm jealous. We've been stuck in the 90s and it is too hot! We might "cool" down to 85 over the weekend. I'd love some weather in the 70s.

Traci,
last week we were over 100 everyday. I think 106 was the highest. Our average for this time of the year is 80 so we were really extra hot. I agree it feels like you cant breathe when it gets that hot. I hate it!!

I didnt know you were surprizing Nathan, that is awesome.

We did that once with grandkids when we lived in Florida. They flew out from Oregon for a months visit and they thought we were taking them to the beach for a few days, so they wernt suspicious when we drove towards the port area, even when we pulled in, Greg said he wanted to stop and get photos of the ship.
They didnt catch on until we got out of the truck to unload the luggage. It was so much fun.

I know your surprize will be as magical as ours was. Try to snap a photo of his face when he realizes what your doing.:cool1

It has been just great here the last several days - 70's during the day and it was 40 again this morning according to the TV. LOVE it. We are to be near 90 on Sunday though with the humidity returning. I will enjoy what I have now and lay low come Sunday.

Howdy all,

I will be gone over the weekend so dont post any good gossip until i return:lmao: No internet at my moms place.

I should still post tomorrow morning unless mom gets worse and i have to leave sooner. Just wanted you to know I didnt dessert you.

I still hope to figure out our excursions this weekend too and i will post what we decide to do.

Loving our cooler weather today but it smells all smokey outside due to local forest fires. Yucky!!

Later all,
Kathy

Hi All!

Hope you find your mum better, Kathy. It's tough when *we* become our parents parent :(

It's a GLORIOUS day here in upstate NY, the kind of day they put in the travel brochures, and probably the 3rd such day we've had this summer. Most of the time it's been raining. 75 degrees and a nice breeze.

Not much new to report. I planned in a single cinnamin donut at breakfast but it still shot my sugar higher than i'd like. Drat. It's the only thing I crave. Went to the pool and did 18 minutes on the cross trainer besides. That's it - been a slug the whole rest of the day.

Hope you're having a good one!

Linda,
have you tried making your own cinnamon donuts?
I have mastered cinnamon and orange rolls that are made with sugar substitutes. Next I plan on trying donuts.
I always have to cut receipes in halves or thirds and feeeze some or give away but at least it doesnt spike the bood sugar too high.
I use egg beaters so i can use half an egg if necessary when reducing the receipe.
Splenda and Equal dont bake well but Natures Sweet is awesome. You have to order it on line. Stores dont carry it. It bakes great unlike the other subsitutes that burn or loose texture or sweetness when baked with. A lot of manufacturers use this in their baked goods.

It is expensive but I save it for special things so it's not so bad. They also make powdered sugar substitute and brown sugar subs.

Let me know if you want the web site to buy it from.
