November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

I know, we're late to the party, but we're here!!

My mom (Vicki - 60), my aunt (Eve - 55) and I (39) are sailling with you, too! We were planning to go to Disney World this week, but when the airline Employee rates came out yesterday, we couldn't resist the siren song of the sea! We don't have a stateroom number yet (gty - verandah).

I've got got get back to work, but I'm looking forward to reading through the thread and meeting everyone!

Hello Vicki, Eve, and Michelle :wave2: In case you haven't gotten to it yet, I want to make sure you know that we are doing a poll for a group name. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2803738

So far Mickey's Amazing Group of Island Cruisers (MAGIC) is in the lead with 7 votes, 2 votes for Chip N Dale's Nutty Cruisers, and one vote each for Magical Mates of the Carribean and Cruisers of the Carribean.

I should be able to check in with you all tomorrow, but Isabella's bday is theisweekend (Sun) and we are having her party (a sleepover with 3 other girls) Sat night & the family party on Sun so I will be BUSY this weekend. So if I don't get back, Happy Thursday! and have a great weekend!

Hi Vicki,

Great to have you dropping by too. Is Eve going to post too or is she too busy with those new grandbabies:lovestruc

My next grand baby is due Jan 12, it will be #6 for us. Ignore the posting name number. I havnt changed it.;)

The late night dessert gala is awesome!!
I just wish they would open it for photos before it gets cut into. They could rope off the table and let everyone walk around it and then out the door and get in line for the admission time.
I have taken photos but it was all messed up by the time we got inside.:headache:

Looking forward to chatting with you the next few weeks.

Kathy

Good morning everyone,

I just put new ink cartridges in the printer so I can FINALLY get my door signs done today. I figured as fast as time is flying by I had better get busy!!

I was baking a birthday cake by 6:30 a.m. today so I would be done before it gets to 85 degrees. Its a chocolate fudge cake made with heavy whipping cream, a chocolate mousse filling (4 thin layers), and a chocolate buttercream frosting. I only make it for birthdays due to how healthy it is .
It is sugar free so not as bad as it sounds.:rotfl2:

Kathy

I have been looking over our CM and FE lists and there have been a few major additions or changes since I last sent it out to everyone.

So over the weekend Iwill send out another revised edition for everyone. I figure this is especiually important for everyone who is doing the FE to have an updated list.:thumbsup2

Vicki,
I sent Michelle a copy of our cruise mates list yesterday. So you can ask her to send you a copy or you can PM me your e-mail addess and I will send you out your own copy. Eve too if she wants. Just let me know.:upsidedow

Catch everyone later today,

Kathy:flower3:

Hi Everyone, love all the labels of people.... It would be cool to vote when we meet everyone... THought it was a great idea for photo copying your passpost, I will do that :) Well it is Thursday, one more day till the weekend. I must go to a Tech Head's Meeting now... FUN FUN, kids have swimming tonight and Sean needs a hair cut. Started my door signs as well, need to laminate them next and work on the tee shirts. Maybe tomorrow I can start those....
Happy Thursday

Hello!

You could have knocked me over with a feather when we saw DCL had assigned our room yesterday evening! I had been joking about the last time I had cruised GTY - the month and a half of not knowing my room number nearly drove me crazy! :rotfl2:

You won't see Eve on the boards, in her words, "I just show up where and when you tell me to, with however much money you say I'll need." She leaves all the crazy planning and arts-and-crafts projects to Mom and I!

We probably aren't going to do any excursions in St. Maartin. we had though about Sunset beach, but everything I'm seeing about traffic concerns and the issues with travelling around the island on a non-Disney excursion has just about convinced us to enjoy a nearly empty ship.

For St. Thomas, we'll go to the tram (LOVE the chocolate shake-like drinks at the top!) and I want to look a little more into Coralworld. If we do that, it'll proabably be on our own, though.

Castaway Cay day will be spent lounging at Serenity Bay!

We got our hotel scheduled for 11/4 last night, we're staying near the airport, then taking the DCL bus the next morning. We had thought to use our DVC points and rent a car to drive to port - but my stars! $75 for a one day rental??? I don't think so! By the time we paid that, then paid the $100-ish for a cab back, we may as well spend the extra $30-40 and have the Disney entertainment on the bus!

Tonight I'll hopefully get some pics of us posted for you!
Michelle

PS - ticker is officially updated, but it reset all of them to the left to start their countdowns. (sigh!)

Monring Michelle,

We love pictures here. I am sure if you have looked back through a few pages you have seen several pictures people have posted.:goodvibes

I will be looking forward ot seeing your photos soon.

We also have a GTY room but no number yet:sad2:

Kathy

:woohoo: our cabin number is finally showing up :woohoo:

We have 5629, so we are just around the corner from Alyssa.:flower3:

Claire is the same deck but she is all the way forward and we are aft.
Love deck 5 because the hallways are so short since the movie theater and kids clubs take up most of the deck.

Pretty quiet too since the hallways are short the only people down them are your neighbors . Nobody will be going from one end ot the other in our hallway which is nice late at night.

If anyone else has a GTY room you might want to go and check to see if your room number is there too.

Kathy

Alyssa,
I forgot to tell you we have stayed in your cabin before on a Western itenary in 07. I'm sure you be happy with it. I know we were.:goodvibes

Kathy

After seeing we had stayed in Alyssa's cabin before I got curious and started looking.
We had also been twice in Tim's cabin.:goodvibes
Very nice room and easy access to decks 9 & 10 where we spend most of our time. Quiet too.

4 others we were right next door to your cabins.

:yay:It is always good to know what room you are staying on ship:yay:

Kathy, We like deck 5, we stayed there last year and were more than thrilled to get the same room this time around:thumbsup2 It is very quiet where our room is, not to many rooms!

I have been read all week, just have not had much time to post....

Welcome aboard Vicki:welcome:

Evening everyone,

Claire, I know exactly where your room is. We have had friends who stayed next to you and when we delivered their FE gifts we got to see the area. It is nice and quiet there.

Well even though I dropped 2 layers of the cake (it's 4 layers)and had to use the mousse filling like glue:lmao: it looked great and was very tasty.
So it was a good birthday.

Quiet here tonight. I think everyone is watching the debate on Fox.

Back later,

Kathy

Hello!

I've gotten to cruise the Dream twice now. I was on the Maiden Voyage - it was quite an experience. I am thrilled to have gotten to do that, but I'm not sure I'd hurry back. More because of the other cruisers, many (if not most) had "entitlement" issues. You could tell, though that many of the servers were new - I don't think we ever were seated at dinner without someone consulting a map of the restaurant before leading me to my table. If you'll check my signature, I've got a link to the trip report I did on the cruise. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am thrilled to have gotten to enjoy!

Mom (Vicki) and I cruised in June with my brother and his family - it was a much more relaxed pace. The servers were definitely much more comfortable with the ship (actually our server was AMAZING!) and we had a fantastic time! As grand as the atrium is on the Magic and Wonder, the Dream is truly jawdropping when you walk in.

I would cruise the Dream again without hesitation. She's a beatiful ship and really starting to "settle in". Also, I was amazed, she just swallows the crowds. The most crowded we felt on our almost sold out cruise in June was at Port Canaveral before they started to board!

Hi All,

I keep reading a lot of negative reviews on the main DIS boards about the Dream. I am sure we won't go on the Dream because for us, it doesn't make sense to fly so far just to go on a 3, 4 or 5 day cruise, plus, we just really love the 7+ day cruises. But, the Fantasy will be doing 7 day cruises. Knowing the Fantasy is a sister ship to the Dream, with all the negative reviews (not ALL are negative, but a lot are negative), I'm wondering if any of you are going to book a future cruise on the Dream or Fantasy?

Hello! We are definitely dressing for pirate night!

Happy Thursday all:yay:

I am so glad that it is almost the weekend, its been a busy week....

This weekend we have to get DD passport, as it just expired! Can't believe that she is only 11 and is on passport #3!!

I was just wondering...Who is dressing up for pirate night? We all dressed up the first 2 times, but i think it maybe just our kids dressing up this time around!

Here's me, my Mom (Vicki) and my aunt (Eve) from our cruise in Nov. 09. (and that's us in order from left to right - me, Mom, Eve)

We loved our verandah that trip!

We cruised a week later in the month, so all the Christmas decorations were up on the ship (but nothing on the island). I think they put them up at the very tip-end of the cruise in front of ours - which would be our cruise this year! Also, they worked on the gingerbread house throughout the cruise we were on. The Promenade Lounge smelled HEAVENLY!!

I must admit, I'm glad we don't have to wear these for drill anymore!!

Have a great evening, all!!

Hi All,

Boy, today was a CRAAAZY day!!! And, it ended with me having to be at a meeting at the kid's school that was for parents only, and my babysitter I had booked a couple weeks ago never showed up!! I did not need that extra stress...

Anyway, tomorrow should be not nearly as crazy, so that is good!

So, I'm just now checking in, but all you east coasters are fast asleep by now! :)

Michelle, I love the pictures of you, Vicki and Eve that you posted!!! :thumbsup2 It's so great to put faces to names... I LOVE the Christmas decorations, too!!! That was really fun for me to see because we took advantage of the Kid's Sail Free offer on the Mexican Riviera cruise out of LA (which is easy for us to get to since we are from Seattle), and we are doing the 8-day Christmas cruise in December, but doing it very cheap since our kids are free. So, seeing the Christmas decorations just made me even more excited for that cruise. It'll be fun if we get to see even a few Christmas decorations toward the end of our November cruise. :)

Ok, I didn't have time (or energy... I'm SO tired :surfweb: now) to read through all the posts from today, but I will do that tomorrow and respond to you all!

Take care, and I'm off to get some well needed zzzzz's!!!

Kathy

Michelle
,Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I love the ship at Christmas time. We too have been on the ship as they were assembling the gingerbread house and it did smell great.
The atrium was normal looking late one night then when we got up the next morning it was decorated completely. That was alot of work for one night.

I believe we have had 4 cruises where it was decorated.

Did you decorate the mini gingerbread house in Studio Sea? We always sign up to do that activity. I love watching the families working together at it.
Lots of fun.

Kathy

Happy friday everyone,

Things are quieter today, so I am hoping to print off my door signs.
I have been trying for days ot get them done but little things keep happening so I dont seem to get them done.:confused3
That is my goal for today.

I will also try to post a couple photos,

Kathy
