Hi All,

I was gone all day... my closest friend here in Seattle is an elite marathon runner, and this morning she ran a 1/2 marathon race and I went to watch her and cheer her on :cheer2:, and she won the entire race... she came in 1st place overall!! She is that fast! It's amazing. She usually comes in 1st or 2nd place overall for all of her races. She is one of those natural gifted runners... I'm not... I just enjoy running, but I'm not fast like she is. :)

Anyway, so it was a fun day, and then we went out to eat and celebrated and hung out.

But, I'm beat... it's a lot of work watching a 1/2 marathon! :lmao: :lmao:

Here is a hill billy cake minus the dogs that were on top. I have aphoto of the dogs will share when I get them downloaded later.

Kathy, That is so awesome! :rotfl: I have never heard of a Hillbilly cake, but this definitely suits the name!! I love it!!! I had a friend here in Seattle that got married and they had a very low budget, so didn't want to spend the money on a fancy wedding cake, so they made a rice crispy treat cake!!! It was really creative... they shaped it just like a wedding cake (with the different layers, and the tiers holding each layer up), and they just put some fresh flowers on top of the rice crispy treat cake, and it turned out great. I think the cake cost them less than $10.00 to make. :)

Oh, and I laughed OUT loud about the dog belching!!!! :rotfl2: I seriously could imagine that in my head... so funny.

I love it... definitely a wedding to remember. It sounds like it went so well, and just suited your son and his new wife perfectly!

I also loved the story about how he proposed at the wedding.... that is great!!! :) :)

Glad you had a great time!! Can't wait to see more pictures.

Take care,
Kathy

Well it was good news and bad news! The bad news is that it already went out in the mail....

The good news is i called the National Passport Office and they said to call at the end of the week, when they have recieved it and i should be able to correct the SSN over the phone. Lets hope so, because i am going to be a nervous wreck until then:scared1:

Happy Monday everyone:dance3:

LovestoRun - Kathy -- Thanks for the tip about Marshall's and the boys suits. We do have a Marshall's in town - not nearby but I can try that. I've seen some in Walmart but they didn't look nice enough. I may try JCPenny online and see if I can head to the mall this weekend for some shopping. DH was gone all day yesterday at the Carolina Panther's game so I am owed some girl time out alone.

GMA Kathy -- I love that hillbilly wedding cake! That would be a cute idea for a kids party too. I can't wait to see the wedding pix. It sounds like it was a very special and touching day for all in attendance as well as the bride and groom. Congrats to Peter from us!

Am back at work after a busy weekend. Fri night I attended a retirement dinner for one of my old bosses from when I worked for IBM. He was a great guy and I miss working for him and the team we had. We went to a place in Chapel Hill, NC called ONE - it is a seafood restaurant and sort of nouvelle cuisine. Very nice.

Saturday DS and DH and I had lunch out and then went to a "patient appreciation" party at our son's dentist. It is a cute idea and more of a community event. Unfortunately it rained so it was cut short.

Yesterday DH headed to Charlotte for the game and DS and I did shopping, had lunch out, went to SafariNation - a bouncey jump place with a jungle theme and then to the Halloween store to check out costumes. DS got a plastic glow in the dark sword for his pirate costume for the cruise. He has a soft foam one and I don't know if we can bring the plastic one in our luggage and get thru airline security. I maybe can mail it down if he really has to have it but we'll see. They had some cute costume enhancements. My favorite was a skull and crossbones rhinestone tattoo. And boy do they have some merchanising with Capt. Jack Sparrow going on. It was fun to look and a fun day out with DS.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and the cruise is fast approaching! In fact, we leave in 45 days after today. I will have to start a countdown with DS. I just keep praying everyone stays healthy (a back to school worry) and that the hurricane season hurries and finishes up so we have smooth sailing and calm seas.

Happy Monday everyone!

Karen

Morning everyone,
cool and cloudy this morning but expecting 80 degrees today.
I still havnt got my countdown chain done, just been to hectic around here.

Maybe today I can get to it. Pretty quick we will be on the ship and it will be too late to get it made.

Its another great Monday, which means we are a week closer to the cruise:thumbsup2

Now that the wedding is behind me I can get busy on the cruise stuff.

Kathy

I bought a short sleeved plain white button up shirt. I also bought iron on transfer paper. I am going to put some Disney characters on my shirt to wear at WDW and on the ship.
I have made a few in the past and they turn out pretty good and are easy to do.

Just having a hard time deciding what characters to use.
I have one shirt with my posting name across the back so people can recognise me. Plus Goofy on the front.

So thats another project for me to get done.:goodvibes

Kathy

I cant find my FE :confused3
I know its packed somewhere in boxes but not worth the time it would take to go through all of them, so now it looks like I will be making something to use as a FE for this cruise.;)

I guarantee it will be a No Sew FE. I dont sew at all. I am so bad at sewing that when we got married my mom gave my husband a device that puts buttons on when they fall off. I think it was called a buttoneer? She told him he would need it because I cant even sew on a button:lmao: She was right. LOL!!

Kathy

LOL Kathy! My DH needs one of thoes Buttoneers! I can sew buttons on, but I just don't do it. Mike gave me a pair of shorts back at the very early parts of spring that needed the button to be sewn back on--even still have the button--but they are still sitting on my dresser.

Karen, Does your DH have season tickets? Mine had season tickets to the Eagles the first two years of DD's life and it became too much work to get him to & pick him up from the games with a baby in the house. So he had to give them up. Love the glow in the dark sword idea & the skull & crossbones tattoo, I need to look for those!

I forgot to mention that I bought Isabella a pirate costume this weekend. It was at Target and she thought it was really cute. She said she wants to wear it for Halloween, BONUS! I would still buy her something else if she changes her mind, it was pretty cheap for a costume.

That's a relief that you can (hopefully) fix it over the phone! Hope it works out!

Good morning, everyone!

Well, today DH leaves for 12 days on a business trip. He is going to London, then to India (Hyderabad), and then to Beijing, China, and then home. So, he's pretty much circling the world in 12 days!!

Anyway, we'll miss him so much.... but the kids and I will be fine. He travels like this for work about 3 - 4 times a year, so it's not a new thing. But, we don't like it when he goes, but the great thing is with all the great technology they have no a days, it's so easy to talk with him. We video conference through Skype when he travels outside the country, so every day we get to see him and talk to him, which really helps make it seem like he's not that far away. :)

Only thing is I feel like I've got a head cold coming on , so I've been trying very hard to keep that from turning into a full head cold. Been taking lots of vitimin C, been taking Arbornne, drinking lots of water, eating well.... this weekend I didn't get much sleep because of how busy it was, but with the exception of Eric being gone, this week is not very busy, so my goal is to get good sleep this week so I don't get sick... I really don't want to be sick when Eric is gone and I have the kids all by myself.

So, that is all that is going on now.

Claire: So glad that you got the passport issue worked out! There is nothing like that sinking feeling when you realize something went wrong with something that important! But, I'm so glad that it'll be an easy fix to change the SS#!!!

Kathy I still need to figure out our FE!!! I haven't had a second to think about it, but this week, that is one of my goals.... to figure it out. I'm going to try to make it (a no sew.... I'm like you, I don't sew!!).

So, it's supposed to be 80 degrees where you are today?? Lucky you!! The high here today is 57.

I also want to get my countdown chain done. This week, the boys and I will work on it.

Karen Our kid's orthodontist does the same thing.... she does a patient appreciation party every year! It's a rolerskating party at a local roller skating rink, and she has pizza, too. It's so much fun!

Ok, well, have a great day everyone!!!

Take care,
Kathy

Arrh me mateys,

It be National Talk Like Pirate day today !! ARRRH!!pirate:

So ye bst be using yur bst Pirate talk taday or it'll be da plank fer ye lads and lasses !!

So does anyone, other than Danielle (thanks!) have an opinion on the group name? See previous post, Castaleis, combining Castaway and Leis. ;)

Kathy (Gma): I can't wait to see your homemade shirts! :wizard: Good luck on the FE, I am unpatiently waiting for mine to show up in the mail!

Claire: Hope the week goes by fast so you can get the calling over with, to correct the passport! I'm sure you will feel a bit sick till its over.

Karen: Don't forget about Burlington Coat Factory too, if Marshall's doesn't work out. I'm sure he will look cute. I love my little man in his new suit. :cool2:

Kathy (LTR): Good luck being a temporary single mom. I hate it when DH travels for work. Right now, my DH is working a lot (all the way up to leaving for the cruise) so that means sometimes the kids can go a day or so without seeing him. Good thing we will end that bout with the cruise. :cheer2:

Getting more and more excited by the minute....

Kristi

Kristi,
back 2 pages, someone did post 2 or 3 ideas for names. I cant remember who right now. I will try to go back and find them and then keep a list this week of all the ideas we get and then I will post them all and give everyone a chance to vote on their favorite or we can draw one out of hat, you guys can decide.

Kathy

Hi - DH doesn't have season tix -- his boss does and gave them to him. So this is a once maybe twice per season trip. Not too bad. They have so many cute things in the Halloween stores. Not expensive either. We can always wait until 11/1 and buy the leftovers on clearance.

Good morning, everyone!

I think it is great for kids and makes them less afraid of the dentist...

Here are P)oncho and Lefty, the Ring Bearers. They are waiting not so patiently for the ceremony.:goodvibes

This is Lefty, you can see the lace collar better in this photo and they tied the rings to the collars just before the ceremony.

Back later with the bride and groom,

Kathy

Wow i think i have spent like 2hr on the phone today scheduling and organizing for our trip in 8 days. I love Castaleis name. Got to see my DH on Sunday for the first time in two weeks. This weekend is my next chance to get my door magnets done. Gma kathy: LOVE the cake! and the stories. Sounded like so much fun. Spent my weekend visiting with DH and volunteering so not much else got done, on the bright side we finally got some rain! Now the mesquito's are out in full force, lol. Oh well. Oh and gma kathy i do have pic of face painting the girls, but since they aren't my kids i don't post pics of them on public forums. So any pics of my adventures and up coming disney trip will have to be of scenery or just me .
Gotta run, i hear the girls waking up,
Alyssa

OK -- here's my suggestions for our group name. I will come up with more if I can but here's what I have:

Mousekecruisers (Scott thinks this is the best one)

Mouse lovers

Cruisers of the Caribbean

Castaway Cruisers

Thoughts? Alternative suggestions? Comments welcome.

Karen

Lots of great ideas for names the last 2 days. I have all of them on a list and I will post the list for everyone so they can see all of them at once. Then you can vote on them.

Be thinking if you want a private note or public vote. If we do private we will ask someone who didnt suggest a name to count the votes and everyone will PM or e-mail them their vote.

Public we just post it and count the votes. Maybe we should say have all suggestions in by Thursday, then I can post the list on friday .

So by friday we must decide how you want to vote on it. Then vote over the
weekend and on Monday the vote counter can announce the winner.:thumbsup2

Does that sound agreeable with everyone????
