November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

We were out to dinner and we just saw the coolest tee-shirt! :cool2: It is of a heavy jet flying over the beach with all of these people blowing over (end over end) and it says "Get blown away". It is from a place in St. Martin called Sunset bar and grill. It must be right by the beach. Maybe your son can get a new shirt while you are there. :yay:

We are going to the Polynesian Resort for Labor Day weekend so I will at least get my Disney fix then.:cheer2:

Have fun watching the planes!

Hi Everyone,

Had a busy day today and didn't get on the computer for much time until DS was in bed (now). Took him to a bday party today where they had an inflatible water slide. The kids loved it and all the parents got a chance to sit and talk because the kids were so busy with the slide. Great idea for next year's bday party!

Today all of a sudden Peter's into volcanoes and watched a National Geographic show on them. Now he wants to know where the nearest one is in North Carolina. On the way home from the party we saw smoke and a fire had started in a wooded area near the house where the bday party was. Peter swears now it was ash from a volcano and not smoke. It was cute. We haven't heard what it was but hope all was ok. We've had such a dry spell here I would be surprised if it was a brush fire or if someone threw a cigarette out their car window or something.

Thanks for the reassurance on the club for the kids. I am sure he'll get really excited once we're there and if we can do some intro to other 5 year olds on the board before hand that would help him have a "friend" to play with.

Have a great Sunday night everyone. Back on tomorrow. Scott is still feeling sick and can't shake a bad summer cold. Maybe he'll be better and post something tomorrow.

Karen

Ok, is anyone else stressing out about the FE's? I haven't even committed but am looking for ideas on the boards. Got a few decent ideas. How many are on the FE list right now?

I'm sure I will her from Gma Kathy, so, thanks for pics for magnets! Not stressing about those anymore and am committed to do magnets :thumbsup2

Hi Kristi,

There are 9 families so far doing the FE. I dont count individual people, just by families. Plenty of time to decide on the FE. Dont rush yourself but it really is easy to do. Please ask if you have any questions about it. It sound smore complicated than it is.:goodvibes

Ok, we will commit. Thanks, Gma Kathy, for the advice. I'm thinking of consumables indigenous to our state. I've been looking online tonight and have some good ideas. Now that I have ideas, I'm getting excited about it. However, in your experience, how many do you think will want to add on the participate before November arrives?

Great !! I will add you to the list!!:woohoo::woohoo:

It is just a wild guess but I am saying maybe as many as 20 families. This is actually a quiet cruise. Many I have been on had 50 or more families:eek:

We really don't have much time until we cruise so I don't think too many more will join us. So I think the most would be 20 families, that's about double what we have now.

Consumables from your state are a great idea.

One cruise we did Christmas gifts too( was the week before Christmas) and it had to be something from your state. That was fun to look for that special something nobody else would have. What great gifts.

Please send me your room number for the FE list when ever you get it. Thanks
Kathy

You can contact The Sea Turtle Preservation Society and see if they have any tours scheduled while you are here. Sea Turtles are protected and all of us here in Brevard are very careful about when and where people get access to them. The Society does a WONDERFUL tour at night (which is when eggs are laid and/or when they hatch). I've lived here all my life and I know I've walked by nests without ever realizing it - until they taught me what to look for and how to be careful around the nest.

I don't mean to preach. Just trying to support a great place for a great tour that will protect the turtles and their habitat. Have fun!

Carolyn

Thanks! I think I actually saw that site before, but will look into it further. Of course my son invisions helping little sea turtle babies get to the ocean, but we realize that you cannot interact with them or anything of the kind. He was asking if we could see sea turtles when we are in FL and I originally said, "no" that we don't have time and there are none to see, but then I thought maybe I should check into it, because if there is any possibility of it, he would be surprised and thrilled. I'm sure he would love a tour or anything like that, but a night tour would be out since we go home that evening after the cruise returns.

Also, Would you recommend going to the Canaveral Lock? Is it cool and/or worth seeing? I appreciate your suggestions.

Oh, that is SOOO cool! Tyler will LOVE that t-shirt! We definitely will be going to the Sunset Bar & Grill to eat and hang out while we are at Maho Beach (I found out they broadcast on loud speakers the air traffic control tower talking to the planes coming in and going out.... so it makes it even more fun to watch them land and take off because you can hear the pilots and people in the tower talking.... so we'll definitely be hanging out at the Sunset Bar & Grill). :) If we see that shirt, we'll for sure get it. :) If Brandon would like that shirt, you should PM me his shirt size and your mailing address, and we can get one for him and mail it to you after the cruise. I'd be happy to do that!!

But, hopefully you guys can get to Maho Beach at some point to watch the planes!! Tyler said to me the other day, "do you think Brendon will be on our next cruise?" :) :) cute!

We love the Polynesian! That is our favorite resort to stay at when we go to WDW... have fun!! I wish we lived closer to Florida so we could get to WDW more often, but it's a 6 hour flight for us and an expensive flight, so it's not a place we get to often.... but we are only a 2 hour flight from Disneyland, so we go there when we need a quick Disney fix. :)

Have fun at the Polynesian. You guys will have a great time.

Thanks for telling me about that shirt!! :)

Take care,
Kathy

Hi everyone,

Just saying hi real quick. Had a really busy weekend!! This next week will not be busy (of course, knowing me, I'll probably end up making each day busy... I'm not one to just sit at home. :) ). But, the boys start school the day after Labor Day, so I'm purposely not planning anything much this upcoming week so the boys can have a really relaxing week before school starts and we are back to schedules, homework, etc. etc. Busy, busy!!

My DH and I were sitting out on our patio in our back yard today in the sun (yes, another beautiful sunny day in Seattle), and enjoying a glass of wine, and we spent the whole time talking about our November cruise and sitting out in the sun today reminded us of being able to sit out in the sun with a fun cocktail in the adult only pool area on deck 9 on the ship while the kids are in the kids club. That is one of our favorite places!!! Can't wait. We also love in the evenings to go to the different clubs/lounges (I forget all the names of them... I get the Magic and Wonder confused with all the names), but we love to sit in those lounges when there is live music and just hang out and listen to the music. Oh, I can't wait!! :)

Anyway, it was just so much fun to think about and talk about. It's going to be here before we know it!!

Have a good night everyone, and I'll see what's going on here on this board tomorrow.

Kathy

Good Monday Morning,
Hope everyone is holding up with the weather/hurricane... Kathy (lovestorun) we actually get a lot of tornadoes here in Ontario.

Hope everyone is feeling better as well, summer colds and flu's are awful.
Karen love your magnets...

I bought the base for my and Darcie's FE, going to start decorating it hopefully this week.

Kids are starting school on tuesday next week, they are getting very excited, well Meghan is she is starting grade 1 and Sean is just going through the motions... Grade 4... It will be nice to get back into routine again.

Seems like everyone had a great weekend. What are everyone's plans for this week? I have no kids till I go back to my parents on Friday for the weekend so i never know what to do with myself... I am still working, I have two jobs, my full time job is with the school board, my second job is a "On Call Pager Supervior" I work on a after hour pager for a temp agency for a health and home care service I have been doing this for four years, I work from 5p-9a and 24hours on weekends and holidays. I work four weeks on and one week off. So I still will be working if needed but the joy is that I can work from anywhere I am, home, movies, etc... I will be off during the cruise that goodness... I do enjoy my week off from that job... So what to do.... LOL

OK back to work for me for a bit :)

Good morning all,

Boy I am feeling all the walking i did over the weekend today. My legs arn't sore but I can feel tightness in my muscles. Oh well I need to get in shape for our hiking excursion on St. Maartin anyway;)

Tonya,

No plans for next weekend for us. We hate the crowds and crazy drivers here so we did our holiday weekend at the coast last weekend.:thumbsup2
We may use the BBQ and maybe watch a couple of movies in the evenings.
I need to look for some good walking shoes to break in before the cruise so maybe I can get out and look for some shoes. I usually get my shoes once a year during back to school sales, so this will be the final weekend for that.

I know someone always has a sale but usually the back to school sales are the best of the season.
Thats all for us. Not too exciting but thats ok. Maybe I will get my door signs made??

For those who have kids and are waiitng for the kids list I will try to get it sent out to all of you on the list today. I will post once i have sent them so if you dont get one you can let me know.

Kathy

Good morning, everyone! Sounds like we all had nice weekends-after Irene went through Saturday night we've had beautiful weather. Gma Kathy, your beach weekend sounded wonderful. LovesToRun, sitting our deck in Ocean City looking at the bay and drinking a glass of wine is one of our favorite activities! I'm glad you are getting some sun in your area to enjoy these last few days of summer. Many of you seem to be heading back to school after Labor Day-I go back tomorrow(sigh). Karen, Scott is just being smart getting his cold now instead of November.
I am so impressed with everyone's door magnets and FEs that I have seen. Beautiful!
Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning!

No big plans for this week, and as for the weekend, we are still figuring that out. If we do anything over the long Labor Day weekend coming up we'll for sure do things as a family, but won't go out of town... we'll just do stuff around town, most likely.

What do you do on the school board? That sounds really interesting! And, with home health care temp agency, do you just relay messages to doctors when your pager goes off, or do you actually have to go into an office or hospital when the pager goes off? So, you must get woken up in the middle of the night with this job. :)

Our kids start school Tuesday next week as well. Tyler will be going into 5th grade (his last year in elementary school ... I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one! 6-8 grade here is Middle School), and Ryan will be going into 4th grade. So, Ryan and Sean must be about the same age. Ryan just turned 9 the beginning of August (he's one of the youngest in his grade, actually).

Hopefully you can get a lot done this week without the kids at home. Our kids went to a camp this summer and they were gone for 5 nights/6 days, and I got soooo much done around the house. It just made it so easy to get stuff done because it seems like when they are home, they undo everything I try to do. :rotfl:

Take care,
Kathy

It is amazing how walking can make your muscles sore!! :) You'd think since we've all been walking since we were toddlers, that our muscles would be used to it. :lmao: Funny you mention this, though... yesterday, we went on a long walk. I did not think we were going to walk that far, but we ended up walking much farther than we had planned. The boys were on their bikes and DH and I just walked and the boys biked in front of us. Before we knew it, we had walked much farther than we had planned... I was only wearing little sandals. If I had known I was going to walk as far as we did, I would have worn my sneakers. So, as a result, I got a blister on the bottom of each foot! :headache: Oh well... they aren't horrible blisters, so they'll heal soon. So, you have sore muscles from walking and I have sore feet from walking! :rotfl:

Good luck finding shoes!! I love back to school sales, too... it's when I buy a lot of the boy's clothes. That is probably something I'll do this week.

Thanks so much for putting the kid's list together!! You are so nice!! :dance3:

Glad you made it through Irene ok!! I've been watching the news off and on and watching all the damage from Irene. Some places got hit really hard! But, glad your weather is beautiful again!

Yes, I'm all for getting colds, flu's, etc done and over with before the cruise, so glad Scott is get his cold now instead of November!! ;)

I forget, are you a student in school now, or do you teach? Sorry, I'm sure you have said it before. Well, good luck going back tomorrow!

Take care!
Kathy

Good Day All. Sounds like everyone survived the weekend. I spent mine cleaning, with a trip down to visit DH, its amazing how my house stays so much cleaner when DH isn't there. On the down side it also seems much bigger, yay for all my animals to keep me company. Sounds like everyone is busy with back to school, the kids in texas have already been back for a week, which has made all the places i take the girls much quieter.
Doing my weekly shopping tonight after work, i'll be picking up magnet paper and then get to printing magnets this weekend. I think i'll try tackling my FE gifts this week and spending the next couple of weeks getting everything ready for taking my bosses and charges to WDW. Lots of planning for taking two 2yr olds!

I work for the York Region District School Board in the Curriculum Office. For my other job I have organizations that call me for staffing... Like group homes, old age homes, private etc... Yup I can get a call at 3a... It isn't fun, but I don't have to leave the home which is perfect. I just need a phone and a laptop or on my phone.

Well the day is almost over for work for me...:yay:
HOME TIME SOON!

Tanya, I will dont seem to have your e-mail to send you the list?
I thought I had it but now it seems that i dont?

Please send it to me again and I will zip you out a list ASAP!!
