November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

OK - I still need to do some more work on these. The fonts are different between my work computer's older version of Office and my home computer. I also ordered some ink for our printer because the drafts on paper are printing funny but this is a start. Here's one magnet - full size sheet.

Here's the other. I'm working on some smaller 1/2 page ones. I found some old bday cards with Disney designs and I scanned those in.

Will keep working on it and take a photo when we have the finished product.
Just heard the oven beep - time for dinner. Back later.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for my Dad. My parents live in England and so my dad gets to go on a waiting list for his surgery. They are not sure when he will get it done or if they are doing the by-pass or drilling the plaque out of the arteries.

Kathy (Mom x4) i am ok with either email or PM about the kids list.

We are getting ready to weather the hurricane this weekend, hopefully we won't get blown or washed away!!

At least it is a quick tender. At Grand Caymen is was about a 10 mile tender in.

Thanks, that makes me look at it from a different point of view. Last time we tendered at Royal Caribbean's private island and it was pretty quick. I never really hurled, just felt nauseous. I will just bring along my essential oils (Motion Eaze), just in case.

Kathy,
Never saw a hot tub at the Hyatt.
Maybe they have a work out room where it might be?

The view from the window was just taken from a floor, cant remember which floor but there was glass windows on that side so I took the shot. I think it was one floor up from the pool.

I was tired and was just wandering around to stretch after sitting on the plane all day.

I know only to well about being seasick and bus sick and car sick and plane sick! :worship: You name it and I have been it. My husband refuses to do shore excursions on the islands on buses with me. They have been the worst. We have to get a private car. On our honeymoon in 1992, on our first cruise I was sick (some wedding night lol) within an hour and he wanted to get off the ship at the first port. I refused and put a scop patch on. Anyway, you can see I am serious about this! I have to tell you though that I am so much better with it now. There are two things that I tried that are amazing to me and I rarely get seasick anymore! The first one is the relief band that is out there. They are an electronis device that looks like a watch and stimulates the acupuncture point for nausea. They are hard to find now but you may find them on ebay. They are expensive! My Dh got me one for morning sickness when I was pregnant. I always take a few with me on a cruise. I must have one as a backup if one breaks. The second thing is a video my Dh found in a sailing magazine. It is a video that shows you a series of exercises to induce the motion sickness. The goal is to get your body to accomodate to the feeling and get used to it. It is a really great investment! An engineer from NASA invented the method. The web site is www.pumamethod.com. I have started doing these already for my cruise in November! I always had to wear a scopalamine patch when I cruised but since 2004, when I got this video, I can go on a cruise with my relief band and hardly ever get sick! It is the most wonderful feeling.:cheer2: The first time we cruised and I didn't wear a patch my Dh was sure I would be sick, the gulfstream was rough. Joy of Joys, I was fine! I really had to share this info with you! I know what being sick is like and I really hope you try the video and have success like I did! I do take an herb called Clear motion and Digestive Aid once in awhile. This also can be purchased on ebay. Well, I know I am no longer going on this cruise and am going on NCL instead but I still have not drug myself away from the disboards. They are to much fun.:yay:

Hi Everyone,

I am back...pardon the delay in this response as it has been pretty hectic the past few days at work.

Kathy: My birthday is next weekend (September 3) and my husband turned 30 in July of this year. This cruise is a birthday gift from us to us ...so to speak :yay: Happy Birthday in advance to you :cheer2:

Flygrl: I know that your door is going to be the bomb dot com! truth be told I am just chicken so I will have to live vicariously through you...if you do not mind :)

Kathy: I will email you right away for the list..thank you for making me feel at home. Jai is the shortened version of my first name; I will not shock you but let us just say that my legal first name is 14 letters long. Not to mention, she (my mother) had the nerve to give me a middle name as well :scared1:

To add to our discussion, I have the best baby ever and his name is Big Pun and he is a rottweiler...i love him like it is nobody's business

Jai

Hello Mulanrocks: thank you for the welcome and consider my fingers double crossed!

Hello Daniellenbella: thank you as well for the welcome

Congratulations on finding out that you will be having a granddaughter Kathy :cheer2:

Hi Jai,

Do you have a photo of Big Pun you can share with us? I think you have to have 10 or 12 posts though before the boards will let you post photos.
All the more reason to keep posting each day:yay:

Kathy

I am looking for info on how to participate in the Fish Extender "game". A friend told me about it and said to look on DisBoards for how to "sign up". Is there a way to find everyone else who wants to participate or do you have to look thru all the posts? Any feedback would be super helpful as this is our first Disney cruise. :)

I have now scrolled thru a bunch of this thread and understand better than in my first post.

Kathy, we would love to participate in the Fish Extender. I will email you tomorrow with our cabin numbers (I know they are adjoining). I will be with my husband, kids Jenna (age 7) and Cade (age 10) and my Mom who will be celebrating her 70th birthday - on Nov 3rd. I saw several other Nov 3 b-days too! Thanks for coordinating the FE. I look forward to doing it and anything else that the group may plan. :)

Hi Melissa,

I will be looking for your e-mail.:goodvibes
Please include your Dh's name and your moms first name too.

We also have a list of all the kids, their ages and who their parents are so the parents can connect to get kids aquainted before the cruise. I have added your family to that list too.
Many are including their e-mail addresses on that list for easier contact. Let me know if you want your e-mail added to the list or ofter 10 or 15 posts people can send you a private message. I just need to know what you prefer for them contacting you if they have kids the ages of yours.
Also we have a list of everyone who has posted they are coming although they may not of posted for a few months. There is also information on that list for a meet the first afternoon on the ship. So when I get your e-mail and send you the list be sure and scroll all the way to the end.

Glad to see another family posting, this group was pretty quiet until the last 3 weeks and now we are alive and kicking here:rotfl2:

Many are first time cruisers so we are shaing information all the time here to help. So if you have any questions please ask, no question is dumb or not important. We are happy to help.

Looking forward to chatting with you on the thread while waiting for our cruise to get here!!

Kathy

Morning everyone,

I can't believe it is friday already.
I will be around this weekend but not quite as often because this afternoon we are heading to the coast for the weekend. We will have internet and I will take my laptop with me, so I will be checking in still, just not as often.

This morning is laundry and packing a small suitcase for the weekend. The dogs will have a blast running up and down the beach. I am taking my camera, so will try to get a few photos while we are there. the beaches out west are not anything like the east coast.

Even our warm days are very windy and maybe 65 degrees. Lots of fog and drizzle and the ocean rarely gets above the low 50's for temperatures. So you rarely go there in shorts, instead its usually a heavy coat, long pants and a sweatshirt and hat. Thats in the good weather:rotfl2: It is a nice weekend away though, just a couple hours drive and we always see elk along the way, sometimes deer too. I will have my camera ready!!

Anybody else have plans this weekend??

Kathy

Happy Friday everyone! Welcome to Princess Ti and Melissa! and Kathy, thank you for posting the great pictures-I wish we were flying in earlier and could lounge around that pool for a while, but we don't get in until about 8:00. And congrats on the baby granddaughter-to-be! We had our first grandchild last August and being a grandparent is just the best thing ever, isn't it? He is a little darling-I'm already planning on getting one of those Nemo sandbuckets for him on CC. We have a place at the beach in Maryland (and hopefully it will still be there after Irene!) and he loves playing in the sand. Was it Dani and her family that was headed to the NJ for their vacation this week? I hope you are able to go after the storm passes-it looks like beautiful weather once it goes by. My husband is out buying extra batteries and a few things in case we lose power here in PA. We are expecting wind and heavy rain. Today is beautiful so when he gets home I think I will go for a long walk and enjoy the sun.
Have a safe weekend east-coasters!

Sandy

Morning Sandy,
Yes being a grandparent is great!! This will be our 6th. That will make 4 girls and 2 boys.:cool1: They grow up way too fast. So enjoy while you can.

While living in Florida we had 3 of 4 hurricanes go right over our house. When the eye hits it is eerie quiet for a few minutes.
We didnt even loose a shingle off our house. The neighbor lost part of his roof and we saw an AC unit rolling down the road. There was a preserve land lot next to us and a huge tree fell there and was just off our property line.

We did loose power for several days.
The worst isnt the hurricane its the twisters that follow. They uprooted hundreds of trees in the area, and some had the bark twisted around the tree itself. It looked really strange. one twister took an entire large brick church (about 1/4 mile from us straight across the land) and only left the concrete slab. Damaged many homes and killed 11. But again we were spared, no damage.
I was never worried about the hurricanes but I was scared of the tornadoes that followed , they are what did the worst damage and killed more than a hurricane did. They appear out of nowhere so you cant prepare for them and they are so much more powerful.

Hoping the best for everyone out east.

I am hoping to hear about Castaway Cay soon. I am sure there had to be some damage, at least major clean up on the island.

Kathy

Hi All,

Just quickly saying hi. I have read through the most recent posts, but don't have time now to reply to them, but will this afternoon sometime. I have a busy morning, and evening, but a break in the afternoon. :)

Ryan is all better now! :woohoo: He sure had some bad 12 hour stomach bug, which is unusual for him. Both my kids rarely get sick, so I am kind of wondering if he ingested something bad or some sort of food didn't agree with him. Regardless, I'm so glad he's back to normal. :)

Well, I'm off.... I'm excited because I've been in Physical Therapy for 1 1/2 years now (because of all my injuries). My physical therapist works mostly with athletes and she is an eliite runner herself. Anyway, she she has kept me in PT for this long to make sure I am fully back to running like I used to. Well, i'm off to PT right now, but I'm happy to say that if all goes well in the next 3 weeks, I should finally be discharged from PT in 3 weeks!!!! :yay: It has been a LONG road of rehab, but it's amazing with hard work, perseverance, and sweat and tears how one can get their broken body back to 100%.. There was quite a while during that time that I thought I'd never run again. But, here I am.... running again, and doing it almost pain free. :)

So, that is where I'm headed, and the kids have a sports camp this morning they are going to.

Take care and I'll write more later this afternoon!

Kathy (gma X4) have a great time at the coast!!! Yay! We LOVE the Oregon coast (as you probably already know). Yes, the beaches are nothing like the east coast beaches, but the Oregon coast beaches are SOOOOO awesome. Have a great time, and it'll be great to hear from you. I'll have to get around to posting photos from our recent Oregon coast trip a couple weeks ago. I'll try to do that sometime soon.

I may be the only one who has no clue, but.....what the heck is Palo?

I finally finshed going back through all the 35 pages :surfweb: and feel kind of up to speed, but now I have new questions, like the Palo one. And what's with all the abbreviations? DD, DS, DH? What's the D? We too are staying at the Hyatt but get in late the night of Nov 4th. Anyone know how late that cool roof-top pool stays open? I guess I can call the hotel and ask. :lovestruc

Palo is the adults only restaurant-there is a $20.00 per person fee. We did not go on our last cruise (1998!) because it was only a 4 night cruise and our daughter was with us. Since we'll be sailing for 7 nights this time and it's just the two of us (empty-nesters) we thought we'd like to try it. There is more info on the DCL website-menus, pictures, etc. There is also a wonderful guidebook by Jennifer and Dave Marx called the PassPorters Cruise to Disney Cruises that explains EVERYTHING in great detail. I highly reccommend it!
I think the "D" refers to dear or Disney?? :)
