November 3, 2012 - Election Escape Eastern!!

Hey there, everyone!!!!!

We actually booked a few months ago. This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise (the other 2 were on the Magic). It will be me, Scott, my DW Mollie, and DD Samantha (will be 2 at cruise time.... and her 1st Disney Cruise!!!!). My in-laws will be sailing with us as well. I don't believe their room is anywhere near ours. And we don't plan on doing EVERYTHING together. But it'll be nice to sit with people we know at dinner (I believe that'll happen :confused3 ).

And if anyone is familiar with my hobby, I'm sure you'll be seeing me out and about with my trusty sidekick (a.k.a. camera). :thumbsup2

Also, here's a little Photo Trip Report I did back in 2009. I've been trying to do more and more of these, so hopefully the Fantasy one will be a little more in-depth.

But since we live in Orlando, and are always at Disney, our little Staycations there aren't too action packed. We really just take it easy. So having a lot of new things on our plate will be fun to write about. :cool1:

Welcome!!! DH (RBennett) and I have seen your work on the Photography Board. You are awesome!! Maybe you two can meet up and talk photography!!

Hello Everyone!! Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. We are in the process of buying a house!! We found a foreclosure in a fantastic neighborhood here in Vero Beach. We are so excited!!!  We weren't planning on buying a house this soon after moving down here, but it was too good of a price to pass up.
Hope everyone is doing well. Count us in on the FE exchange!!

Oh, how exciting!!!!! :cool1::cool1: Sounds like it was meant to be. Enjoy all that comes with a new house!!

Hi all...just MAY be moving from our Eastern on 10/20 to this cruise. It's all dependent upon "WHEN" the Wine & Dine 1/2 marathon will actually be ran....If it is friday 11/9, then it doesn't work...if it's Sat 11/10 it will be PERFECT. HOPING HOPING HOPING....don't really want to fly to Orlando from Calif twice in two weeks....

Going to go read the 27 pages of posts to get a bit familiar with you all....

PS....this will be my 7th (OR 8th) Disney cruise depending upon whether i do a short cruise this summer. It will be me, my friend & Travel Agent along with sister & her hubby. My DH will not cruise, and DS will be in his Sr. year at Univ., so can't take him out of school

Hello all!

My husband and I just moved our cruise back a bit from the old Wine and Dine 1/2 race dates to this cruise so we can do the race! Hopefully they don't change anything again because there is no way we can pay the "late booking" tax again!

Our cast is very small... just me, Shanna 29 and my husband Kyle, also 29! We will both be 30 by the time of the cruise though and it will be just after our first wedding anniversary so we can still say it counts as a celebration, right?! We will be in stateroom 6174 - even though we booked GTY we already got our #, probably because of the noise of docking no one wanted it... but hay, we are young, have earplugs and got a good price!

I admit I laughed my tush off when I saw the graphic on the first page, you are all awesome and I bet we will have a wonderful cruise!

We will both definitely be doing the 5K on CC - if for no other reason than staying limber for the 1/2 the night we disembark! Are there any other crazies here who think its a great idea?! :lmao:

I asked to join the facebook group as well! Cheers!

So i am considering moving to this cruise too so that i will be in Orlando for the Wine & Dine 1/2 (Just finished the Tinker Bell 1/2 last weekend and want the Coast to Coast medal) LOL!!! so....is the race actually the night of Sat Nov 10th???? - i have not been able to find a lot of info on this year's race details....not on their FB page nor the Run Disney page...appreciate any info you have...thanks!!!

Let me know how you like the Tink 1/2 marathon, I want to run that one next year to get the coast to coast medal.

The minumis is a barefoot running shoe, same as vibram five fingers. They are super comfortable but offer zero support or cushion. They take awhile to get use to, as a matter of fact both shoes come with a warning to break them in slowly.

But I will tell you:
1) my archs are back where they belong and my foot has never been stronger
2) when we go to the local amusement park (Kings Domionion) I am the only in the family whos feet don't hurt at the end of the day and I am only wearing a glove on my foot and they all have nice cushy cross trainers
3) they are not heavy
4) I ran almost every day I was in Iraq, 4 months into it the DR told me to stop/learn to run differently or I would need a new hip as I heal strike so badly that it was causing damage to my hip- barefoot running forces me to stop heal striking
5) these shoes on average last runners through their entire training for a full marathon and the marathon that's way more than regular running shoes since you don't have to worry about the internal mechanism in the shoe wearing out.

There is a lot of conflicting research about barefoot running, I say your running style is yours so it doesn't matter the research. I think I like these best because they remind me of track shoes but for the street.

BEST OF LUCK at the Tinkerbell run:cheer2:
I think AquaDame will agree....the Tinker Bell run was fabulous!!!!...you should definitely work towards that goal....I will achieve Coast to Coast by running the wine & dine this year (one reason i'm moving my Oct BD cruise to this date - although i just realized i will miss one big creative memories crop wkend) YIKES!!!

Thanks, I sent my request!! :goodvibes
Sent my request for FB add as well

Hello everybody
I can do the countdown if people would like to see it.

I think I read on the Allears.net site that it will be on the 10.Probably in the part about the calender of events. There was a link to
the Sports part.I did check because I was planning to go to Epcot that day but with the marathon I´m not sure if it is open to the public or only to the runners.
Maybe you experienced runners(and I admire you for that)know more.
Conny

Hi all! This was my first Disney race, so I'm not sure how it compared to others, but it was fabulous! On my previous training runs I was earning each and every mile, but during the race itself I was so happy and overly stimulated that I didn't notice my legs were getting tired until mile 9! :lmao: The energy in the morning was great and the costumes were so fun! I might have to try that for W+D! They had a large stage setup to the side of corral A and projected it up on a large screen in front of corral B that we could sort of see from corral C, but I'm not sure D and E had anyway of seeing it. The only tinkerbell was a CGI tink that floated on the screen not DOING anything before they released each corral, and then of course the Marathon image on all the mile markers. Minnie and Daisy were there on stage waving and clapping but I was totally snubbed by Daisy at the finish line - she high 5ed the girl in front of me but went back to clapping and so I was left hanging... ^^;; I was sort of bummed they didn't have Tink on the course or at the finish line - they had a nice assortment through the parks and none on the streets (I don't know why I expected to see them outside the parks but I did so got a little bummed from mile 5ish (end of DTD) to mile 12 (we were in DCA very little in this race..! There weren't many characters for that mile either - I *think* there was Toy Story but they may have been earlier and I know I saw Monster's Inc there, maybe Tarzan and Hercules there too?). The other thing that seemed weird is all the people telling us we were almost there, only another .5, .1 etc but we didn't SEE the finish until we took a right turn into the parking lot and BOOM, end! The entertainment outside the parks was at every mile marker, lots of cheerleaders and a couple of bands, and then of course family members and friends sprinkled everywhere. As someone said my favourite sign by far as the one that read "Worst Parade Ever".

I'm not sure what else to say... the water stations seemed spaced nicely, but every time we ran through one it was a huge area of congestion; the two times I wanted water though it was there, by a happy bright person (thank you volunteers!!) but I only used it to wet my hair; I carried two 6 oz bottles of Gatorade in my belt for drinking. Right after the water stations there were port-o-potties but there was always a bit of a line. They also had powershots at mile 9ish, as well as Gu and small Luna bars. I had a block of PS from my husband around mile 7 though and it did NOT sit well, so I avoided them at that marker. I had a bite of a luna bar instead and then let my husband polish it off. Gatorade was really all my stomach was happy with...

I sent in a question directly about W+D to disney, all they said was that the dates were not released fully yet but that the event *should* be the 10th, and he wouldn't say it was at night but that it was in the past. Very unhelpful, but its not his fault of course. Hopefully we will know 100% soon! Looking at the event last year we should be able to pick up our packet that day and run that night... I really hope it works out, we want our C2C! :flower3:

We did GTY too! But 9D; it was so close to paying for an 11C we couldn't justify not doing the upgrade (even though just getting on the ship was much more than our previously booked cruise had been... ugh, I want a word with someone at runDisney...) but we instantly got our room assignment too which seemed very odd..! I'm not sure how my TA did it since I hadn't seen it as an option on the website. We've only done one cruise before, a 4 night bahama one in an 11C and thought it was just fine since it was just my husband and I. This will be more fun though I think! And then next June we have a 7A for the navigator's verandah regardless because its in Alaska! After that I think we'll have to move back down the ship though, these upgrades are spendy! :rolleyes1

It will be great to meet you and your hubby (unfortunately my DH will not cruise - so so sad)...but i think that at least two of my friends who ran the Tink with me will be flying to WDW that wkend to run W&D and claim their C2C as well!! :)
