November 3, 2007 - Western on the Magic

I have not been on the DIS Boards in sooo long. I always used to read them religiously the last cruise we went on....When we finally got on the ship, we already knew so many friends! This summer that stretched into fall has been one of the worst--the endless home renovations (still not 100% finished), too much work, too much volunteering (why can't I ever say no!)?

But now I just received some really bad news. My parents are supposed to be coming on the cruise with us. They have never been on a cruise before, and I thought that they would love the Disney cruise. My dad, who has always had some health issues is not doing well. So bad in fact that they may not be able to come. Please say a prayer or spray some pixie dust our way so he gets better.

I hope things go better and his health improves and he is able to come.:grouphug:

I just can't believe its only 1 week away.

My DS's suit still fits from his 1st Communion last spring, :thumbsup2 so him and DH will both be wearing suits for formal night. My handsome men!

I know what I'm wearing and I still have to decide on a dress for DD.

I know this is kind of late to ask now, but what do people wear to dinner on other nights? If I wore a skirt and heels, would I look out of place? DH and I don't go out alot so when I have the chance to dress up, I like to.

Also whats the earliest we can board the ship? We are still listed at 2nd dinner seating and I'm really hoping to get it changed.

Do the little girls wear Princess dresses? DD is princess crazed and loves to wear her dresses.

See you guys soon.

Sorry for all the questions! Guess I'm getting nervous with all the last minute details

As far as what people wear, you will see everything from shorts to formal gowns. Wear what you are comfortable in. It's your vacation. No, you will not look out of place. If you arrive at the port early, you should be able to get a low number boarding card. I think last year they started boarding between 11:45 and noon. When you board go straight to the location for dinner changes and it shouldn't be a problem. We did it last year and got it changed, no problems. Yes, you will see a lot of little girls in Princess dresses, and you will be able to get some great pictures also. No problem for the questions, that's what we are all here for!! See you in a week!

Sending a prayer that everything will be okay. We are from Marlton too!

We are flying out Sat. morning. How about you?

I haven't really done any packing, because I've been too busy. I am starting to get stressed out thinking about the packing I have to do. I know my DH isn't worried about it.
How's your packing going?

we fly out Friday nite - staying at the port.
i probably stressed you out with my complaining last week...oh puleeez - DHs just don't worry about that stuff:rolleyes1
well, i've packed most of my clothes already. now it's just the stuff everyone will use, medicines, packing my toiletry bag, blah, blah, blah.
i've been busy w/work, so i'm hoping to get some loose ends tied up this weekend.
looking forward to meeting you! are you traveling w/kids (ages?)?

Did everyone remember that we get an EXTRA HOUR on our cruise??? :cool1: DST ends on 11/4, so we get to fall back and enjoy and extra hour...how awesome is that? ;)

Thanks for all the kind words--we will find out on Monday if my parents are able to come. According to my dad, he is going!

I haven't packed a thing yet. Hopefully, my summer clothes will still fit. My daughter seems to be growing daily, good thing it doesn't matter with shorts and capris. My son still fits in his communion suit (but he's in 4th grade!), so he's covered. Is everyone planning a pirate outfit for pirate night?

To DVC from NJ: Prayers for you father, hope he can be well enough to join you family

To love2travel: We will be also be passing by on deck 8 (we have gone for the cat 4 because of the extra room)

I still have mostly everything out but not packed yet. I am planning on doing that Monday. I just found out Thursday that I am going to see Bon Jovi tomorrow night at the new Prudential Center (my friend had an extra ticket!)

We are flying on Wednesday morning (can't wait). For the MNSSHP my DS11 is going to be an FBI agent & DS7 is going to be Harry Potter. They want me to dress up, so I have a martini t-shirt (or I nmight wear my Halloween t-shirt) I have a boa & tiara so I think I am going to be a party diva, lol. I did that a couple of years ago when the kids talked me into dressing up. Last year I was Madonna for school.

One of my DS's is 9 and the other will turn 8 on Nov.5 on the cruise.
How about you?
I did start packing; I've gotten most stuff together, I just have to put everything in suitcases and narrow down the amount of things. I have a tendency to overpack.

We are flying out Saturday morning.

Nothing packed. But thats me. I'll pack probably starting Wednesday. I pretty much know what I'm taking though. I set certain clothes aside for the kids that I bought at the Disney Store when they put their summer things on clearance.

Our DS is 9, and our DD is 4.

My birthday is on Tuesday, turning 29 again Come celebrate with us.

:grouphug: Prayers and best wishes for your dad. Hang in there. I hope things get better!

I am also an overpacker, but I think I'm doing pretty well (that's today, check with me tomorrow!). My DD is 13. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Any special plans for DSs birthday onboard? Let the staff know - they'll make a fuss over him!

I did see that!

Has anyone been looking at the 10 day forecasts? I don't want to "dampen" any spirits, but I'm a little bummed. They are forecasting rain (t-showers) for KeyWest on the 4th, and showers the day we dock at Grand Cayman and showers in Cozumel up to the 6th (not showing the 7th yet). I'm hoping the outlook clears up with time :hourglass !!

For some reason, my original reply posted a little wacky, so here goes again:

Happy Birthday:woohoo: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm packing in piles and bits and pieces. Now its just time to do it!

See you on the Magic!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I guess we should add ponchos due to the weather forecast! Don't worry, it's kind of like carrying your umbrella...YOU NEVER NEED IT IF YOU HAVE IT!! The power of positive thinking!! Hey, DH and I had the best time in a downpour in Curacao...We got stuck in a cloud burst in a little outdoor (umbrellas at tables) bar! We taught the local bartender how to make frozen daiquiri! At first, we thought he was joking about not knowing how to make one, but he was serious! Anyway, it turned out just fine and we waited out the rain there.

Of course, this could be harder to do with kids...They usually don't like daiquiris!! LOL
