November 24, 2012 ~ Western Fantasy ~ Pachyderms of the Caribbean

Top of the page!! Yeah!!::banana::banana:

Log on the first minute you can (I think the newbie window is 75 days) - check Remi first and if you get a ressie, save it!! If you go through picking all of your ressies and then save at the end, you might miss the window.

If that doesn't work, find out where to go as soon as you get onboard (we might be able to find out from some "recent cruisers" closer to our sail date) and go straight there BEFORE you go to lunch. If they don't have an opening, they will put you on the waitlist. [oh. . . after your family is announced, a CM will approach you to see if you have been on DCL before and drop a few hints to you, you can ask them where to go to try to get a Remy ressie]

Good luck!!

I agree. Book the specialty restaurants, excursions, cabanas, spa treatments, etc. as soon as you are able to. In order to book these pre-cruise, you have to be paid in full. Once paid, the ability to reserve depends on your Castaway Club status (how many times you have cruised with DCL in the past):
  • Never cruised on DCL – Can reserve 75 days prior to cruising
  • 1-5 previous cruises (Silver status) - Can reserve 90 days prior to cruising
  • 6 – 10 previous cruises (Gold status) - Can reserve 105 days prior to cruising
  • 11 plus previous cruises (Platinum status) - Can reserve 120 days prior to cruising

By the way, Palos has an incredible $20 brunch which should not be missed. Adults only. :hyper:

I would love to book a brunch, but do not know how DD is going to do in the Club/Lab.

hi janice,

thanks for the tips. hugely appreciated. i have heard remy is an amazing place to eat, and while i would love, love, love to try it, my guy is a vegetarian, who will eat fish if it comes to it, and looking at their menu, it seems that his choices may be a little limited. it's also a huge expense, but probably the cheapest we'll ever get that kind of meal :)

looking forward to our dis meet with everyone :)

:love:My DW LOVES the Chocolate Souffle with Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Sauce from Palo's. It is by far her favorite dish there.:love:

I can't get enough of the Fritto di Calamari (lightly crusted calamari served with deep-fried cherry peppers) Yummy :yay:

Reading the food menus and discussion of chocolate suffles has me getting a little hungry which for some strange reason made me wonder about getting full and....

For those that know how to do it, has anyone been looking to see what the capacity status is for our week on board? Is the ship getting full? I'm kind of hoping that since we are the week after T-Day which is historically lower crowds at WDW, this will transfer to the ship as well so that we can look at maybe an 80 - 85% full ship. Anyone have some thoughts on this?

Even during the "off-season" DCL will sail mostly (if not totally) full. We may see fewer kids on board than you would have during summers or holiday weeks but from my experience it is not that great of a difference. If the cruise is not selling as well as they would like expect to see some last minute discounts like the IGT/OGT/VGT offers after the paid in full dates. I was just checking our cruise this morning and all insides and oceanviews look to be booked at this time with only verandahs left so it might be selling pretty well at this point but there might be a good chance for a VGT offer. Time will tell.....

Living close to Port Canaveral and having a very close relative being employed by DCL, I can tell you with 100% certainty DCL celebrated a milestone this month - the Fantasy finally sailed a sold out cruise. Yep, it was the first time the Fantasy sold out on a normal 1 week cruise. The Dream sells out on a regular basis.
As far as the inside and ocean view being not available, true they might all be spoken for now, but I guarantee once final payment is due, rooms will be available.
However if it does sell out, my DW and I cruised on the Dream recently and although it was almost sold out, the ship never felt crowded except the Pirate party and disembarkation.

??????????
What happened? It was your idea to keep adding to the post (I think we should keep going back and forth adding more information each time! HAhaHaha)
:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I'm still thinking. . . :rolleyes1

I will come up with something brilliant any minute now . . . hahaha

If you are interested in Remy Dinner, Palo Dinner, or Palo Brunch, I suggest you try to get those first! If you are able to book it, save your reservation. You are able to book (sort of fill your cart) multiple reservations, but if you wait until the end, you could lose your dining reservation!

If this is your first time sailing with DCL, you might find this tutorial helpful that one of my shipmates (Pudo) put together back in 2010!
