hi all,

this will be my first disney cruise, and it will be just me (alicia - 31 at time of cruising) and my partner carlo (will turn 34 the month before we cruise). we would love to do a dismeet & participate in FE.

as it's just the 2 of us, and we're from Australia, would love to be able to chat & make some friends from the cruise

A lot of action in this thread. That is so cool. Just to update the roll call, We are from Puerto Rico and so far My DW (Mayline) and two older DD (Maria-4 and Veronica-2) are coming with me (Frank). We felt our youngest DD was just too little so she takes the next one.

If this cruise ends up being half as fun as we think its gonna be you can bet we will book another one.

Since we should hopefully start being more chatty, there are a few things we should start to think about/discuss. . .

What would we like to name our cruise?
The current suggestions are:

disneybride96 suggests “Christmas Season Kickoff ”

trinibjill suggests “The Fantasy Swashbucklers of the Caribbean”

ruley3 suggests “Pyramid of Pachyderms”

When should the deadline be for deciding on a Cruise name?

Since people are starting to find us now, perhaps we could create a vote the week of 2/6/2012? We would still have lots of time to create a logo with our official name . . .

Who would be interested in joining a FE?

I am currently marking people considering it with a "(FE)" Next to their name on the roll call. If you are interested in joining the FE, it woudl be helpful if you gave your stateroom number. If you prefer to only give it out privately, you can wait until the official list has been created.​

When should the deadline be to sign up for the FE be?

Typically, people that are making/ordering something to distribute like to have at least a month to work on their items, making the sign-up date be 10/24/2012.​

Do we want to have a limit for the FE group?

I know each cruise handles this different. In the past I have been in groups where once the list hit 30, we were broken down to groups of 15. Also, there have been times where some people like to have one large group.​

Hi,

To address some of the questions disney-cruiser posted:

1. I would definitely would love to do FE so count me in. I'm not 100% familiar with it since this our first Disney cruise but we surely cannot pass that up.

2. I LOVE all the names suggested so its hard to choose just one. "Pyramid of Pachyderms" sounds unique enough though. I would also add "Pachyderms of the Caribbean." (Just imagine the logo design possibilities.lol)

3. Totally agree with the 30 day deadline to sign up for FE.

4. As far as dividing into smaller FE groups, I guess we could wait and see just how many sign up before making that decision.

I am very excited that we are cruising THIS year. I guess I am spoiled because we sailed on the Dream last year too.

Honestly not loving any of the names so far but I don't have any better suggestions either. Christmas Season Kickoff is my favorite of the three.

My DH and kids really enjoy the FE thing so we will probably sign up. The last group I was in broke it down into groups which was SO much better than one big group. The last big group I was with it took hours to deliver all over the ship. With the group it was limited to I think 15 staterooms and they were all pretty much grouped in the same area of the ship so it made delivery so much faster.

I would also suggest maybe a 6 week sign up for FE's - more mid-October than late-October. I know we always get really busy the month before the cruise and it would allow for a little more time in putting it all together.

I agree - the 6 weeks is probably better - the last time I was in it I decided to send my things down to the ship - and the extra time would really help out there.

This was in the Orlando Sentinel today - and Lou Mongello announced it on Fox 35 News yesterday

Disney World is holding a new kind of marathon this year. For the first time, its Magic Kingdom theme park will be open for business for 24 consecutive hours. Guests will be welcome from 6 a.m. on Feb. 29 to 6 a.m. on March 1. The leap-day news was made public Saturday evening during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest" telecast on Disney-owned ABC.

The promotion, called "One More Disney Day," revolves around the idea that there is an extra day of theme parking in a leap year. Disneyland Park in California also will operate for 24 consecutive hours that day.
