November 24, 2012 ~ Western Fantasy ~ Pachyderms of the Caribbean

this is great -- thanks for posting the links for those of us who don't get to read the papers :)

Thank you Alicia - I will try to post any time I happen to see an interesting article about the Fantasy.

Mean time - here is a pic from the Dream that I liked. I wonder if they will any items like this on the stacks on the Fantasy :confused3

Here is another article on the christening. This time by one of my favorite podcasters - Ricky Brigante. His podcast is called "Inside The Magic" it is about WDW. He lives here in Fl.

awww... this is great. thanks again for keeping us in the loop... especially as we're in australia, we don't get much local news on this, so i have to go hunt it down on the interwebs... or i just come here :)

10 months and just under a week to go til our cruise... that time is going to fly.. i just know it :)

Well I guess we are definitely going now. ;) I just bought our airfare. We were planning to drive down for the cruise but I happened to check flights this afternoon and found a fantastic deal so now we are flying down on 11/23 and flying back on 12/2. I have never bought airfare this early but I cannot imagine finding it much cheaper (we got $680 total for the 4 of us from St. Louis). We will have one extra day once we get off the ship so we will just be forced to spend it at WDW. How will we ever survive? :lmao:

We're not quite as organized as you Foohpah, but we're planning on arriving a day early as well. We'll probably end up staying at Radisson in Port Canaveral seeing as the DD and DW absolutely loved the pool there last year.
Anyone else thinking of overnighting here before the cruise?

We stayed at the Radisson the day before our cruise back in 2006. That morning right before checking out we saw a red ant crawling up the wall by one of the beds. I was so glad we were checking out. I told the front desk when we checked out but they did not seem too concerned so we have not returned. The last two cruises we stayed at the Sheraton Four Points and the Country Inn and Suites. I really liked the CIS and we will stay there next time we are in Cocoa Beach before the cruise. We woke up to a view of the Dream from our hotel window. Can't beat that. :wizard:

Since we get in at 7 PM this time we will probably just stay at the airport Hyatt.

Foohpah, we are also staying at the MCO hyatt on the night before the cruise. i've heard it's a great destination pre-cruise, and since we have a 14 hour flight from brisbane to lax, then the lax-mco leg of our journey all in the same day... we will be very glad to finally arrive :) i imagine we will be hidously jet lagged, but we might push ourselves into a small trip out to the Florida Mall for the black friday sales... depending on how we are feeling :)

Foohpah: doesn't sound like decent customer service. They could have at least acknowledged the issue. Fortunately we've never run across that.

Alecia, I never even thought about stopping on the way to the port to get some black friday shopping in. Might have to rethink our route to take advantage of that. Thanks!

re: black friday shopping... i just noticed the dates and went eek... we have to do that!! there are stores i buy from whenever i'm in the states, and a black friday sale... can't pass that up!! i'm only concerned that our flight will arrive at 6pm and the stores aren't open that late... and i'm not sure what our transport options will be like in getting from mco hyatt regency to the florida mall...

also... not sure whether carlo and i will be too jetlagged to be even up for the trip...

my only other opportunity would be to get off the cruise really, really early, check in for our flight, and then try to do some shopping on dec 1. but that will be over a week afterwards...

we're then heading to chicago for 3 nights to explore the city from dec 1-4, then heading over to disneyland in anaheim from dec 4-11. maybe i'll be able to do some shopping in chicago?

We won't be doing any black friday shopping, because, in case I haven't mentioned it this week. . . we will be on Castaway Cay that day!! :cool1:

Well my little girl turns 7 today so that must mean in 10 months we will be eating lunch on deck. :)

My son and I have been sick the last few days so I started using all that down time to start doing early research on what we will do in port. If I keep it up there will be nothing left for me to do for months before the cruise. ;)

Right now we are thinking beach day in Costa Maya with a private beach club, either a snorkeling excursion or the Turtle Farm for Grand Cayman and I just found the Amazing Cozumel Race that might be something we will have to do since we all love the show. CC will just be a relaxing day for the most part but my son and I might do the stingray feedings. I am getting very excited because it is starting to seem more real. I am sure the next 10 months will fly by.

Can you tell me (us?) more about the "Amazing Cozumel Race"?

Alecia, My experience from flying to Australia is the flight from MEL to LAX was far less tiring than the one out to MEL. That may just be me though. Never did enjoy the layovers to get back to Toronto, Canada afterward.

Are you and Carlo not getting a rental car? This is the main reason we get one instead of taking other transportation to the port. We want to be free to go wherever we want whenever we want without having to worry about getting additional taxis or public transportation.

Hi Everyone- we will be joining you all as well for our first cruise! Wish us well, my husband doesn't like boats. It's taken me 2 years to explain that he will not even know he is on a boat. I am interested in a FE exchange and would like to be added to the roll call!
We are from NewYork and are Myself(Katie) Dh(Brian) and Ds(Brayden)4
