November 24, 2012 ~ Western Fantasy ~ Pachyderms of the Caribbean

Just checking in to see if there are any other couples (w/o kids) sailing with us.

My DP Jeremy and I booked the cruise with friends we met on the WBTA last year but they are now unable to join us, so we are sailing "stag" and now are without our tablemates! :sad2:

Given how late dinner was last time around we booked early dining this time around. (We wouldn't get done with dinner until like 10:00 and then pretty much were too exhausted to do anything afterwards except go to bed! Hopefully early dining lends itself to evening activities moreso than late dining did!)

Chris & Jeremy, we are sailing without kiddos as well! We are sailing with extended family, but no kids & a desire to change to early seating for the same reason you described... More energy for nighttime entertainment! It will be me & DH, my brother & his girlfriend, and my sister and her best friend/gay husband. My parents are also sailing with us but aren't into the late night activities. :).

So, basically, no room at our 8 top for table mates, but we would love to have new friends to explore every nook & cranny of the Tube with! :).

By the way . . . we had some excitement at our house this weekend. . .

:laundy:
On Sunday, Linda had gone upstairs to switch the loads in the wash, and I guess that seemed like a good time for me to start to choke. . . She came flying down the stairs, saved my life, and then I looked at her and asked what was her issue - turns out - she broke her toe rushing to get to me!! :scared1:

She is currently walking around on crutches. . . hopefully. . . she will be all healed up by the time we set sail!!!

We really need a vacation!!

WOW! That was one exciting day. Glad you are okay and I hope Linda is all healed for the cruise.
By the way, what were you choking on?:confused3

DH and I are childfree by choice and we're also doing early dining. This'll be our 9th cruise (3rd DCL) and we prefer early dining because we wake up early on port days and want to make sure we're not exhausted to enjoy those port days. Most other cruise lines have "anytime dining" where you get to go whenever you want but I still prefer early dining because you get to know your waiters and tablemates, whereas with anytime dining your waiter and tablemates change every day.

Well, 12 years ago I had gastric bypass surgery. I know I wouldn't be alive today if I didn't have it, but everyday is a struggle. Somedays things that I can normally eat without issue will be an issue on that day - on this lovely day it was pasta :confused3

Linda is doing well. She is always the first person to jump up and help anyone that needs it - and she is not liking having to ask others for help. Her manager converted her job to a sit down job - but she said it makes the day longer. Also, one of the women she works with brought in a bell and they are all forcing her to use it if she needs water, something shredded, something delivered, etc. :lmao:

The other issue is that her company had 2 competitions over the summer. One was a biggest loser competition (she came in 4th) and the other was walking contest. She didn't place in that, but walked 5 miles on a glider each night ontop of what she normally walked (they all wore pedometers and turned in their steps each Friday). After both things ended, she continued watching what she ate and walking on the glider - and now it is really frustrating her that she can't walk. :furious:

Right now - both of us (any of you?) are really ready for this cruise! If you see her on deck (I'll give you a hint, she will be by the adult pool for most of day, everyday), feel free to give her a pat on the back. :grouphug:

This was on Halloween 2012 aboard the Magic (so you can recognize her)

I really need to make some final decisions on what we are going to do on Grand Cayman. We are booked at the Tropicante for Costa Maya. We will be doing the Cozumel Amazing Race in Cozumel and just relaxing at CC. Grand Cayman for some reason is really a problem. We already have two beach days and not sure we want a third. Half of my family is terrified of stringrays. My 7 year old daughter refuses to put her face into salt water to snorkel because it tastes 'salty'. Thought about the submarine so we could see some of the reef without salty water but my DH does not like that idea. Thought about the turtle farm but not real excited about it. Even thought about just hanging out at Margaritaville for a few drinks while the kids use the pool for an hour or so and maybe checking out a few shops.

What does everyone else have planned for GC?

We will be sailing on the Fantasy the week of Nov 24th & would love to participate in the fish extenders. What do we need to do to sign up?

Janice, I am glad Linda was there when you needed her. I'm sure you are there now taking care of her and her toe. Now, put padding up on the walls and on the corners of the furniture and tables, cover all electrical outlets, put all knives and any other sharp objects out of sight and just sit for 44 more days. You've got to get on that ship!!

By the way, regarding FE, I would like to change my vote to split now. We were looking at what we are bringing and I'm becoming a little concerned over space limitations in luggage. I may have to tell DW she can only bring two pairs of shoes with her on this trip.

Thanks

Keith

Welcome Aboard!! pirate:

I need to know:

Stateroom #
Names of all; ages (at least of the children)
Anyone have allergies?
Are you celebrating anything?

You won't be able to send me PM until you have (I think) 10 posts - at that time you can send me your email address - unless you don't care who sees it - in which case you can just post it on our thread!

I am changing your vote - but keep in mind - you can send a box to the port ahead of time - and it will be waiting for you in your stateroom. Just make sure these is nothing edible in the box because the dogs will find it and you will never see it again!! :scared:

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting! I am going on this western carribean cruise with my parents and DD (3), this will be our second cruise and we are so excited!! I have been reading most of the posts and was interested in participating in the FE, until when do I have time to sign up? And if I dont, I am still interested in meeting families who have children of similar age to my daughter so she can have someone to play with for a while, or in the OC! I know she wants to go to plutos pajama party (it was on the dream, is it on the fantasy?), but she is afraid of going alone!
Thank you!

Welcome Aboard!! :wave2:

You have one week left to decide about the FE - it is really a lot of fun and I'm sure your daughter will enjoy it!! pluto:

My daughter just turned 5 and this is our first cruise ever! She loves meeting new friends, so I'm sure we can get them connected... :-)

Hello dizney-cruiser! Well I talked to my mom and dad about it, even though we were thrilled with the idea, we decided to leave the FE for the next time we cruise. We felt it would be a little bit difficult for us since I am flying in with my daughter from Colombia, my mom is flying from Costa Rica and my dad from Honduras! We are celebrating my mothers birthday during this cruise, and even though we wont participate we would still love to make new friends! :tigger:

Hi princessLoki! That would be great if they could meet! My daughter is a little shy when she sees a lot of kids that she doesn't know, but once she starts playing with someone it goes away :) If anything I will most likely go to the meet and greet (even though I am not participating in the FE), that saturday at 3p.m.! We are really excited, this is our second cruise, we had an amazing time on our first, I'm sure you will too!

We are good at mailing things, but we also have to get things home;)

Lets not forgot about the meet & greet.

Saturday, 11/24/2012, 3:00 PM, Vista Cafe

I know everyone will be busy, but this would be a great time to meet everyone.
