November 21, 2010 Wonder 3 day - FE Info Post #70

This will be our family's first cruise and we can't wait. (We are having a mini family reunion. There will be 9 of us in three cabins.) Can somebody tell me when is the best time to board the ship on Sunday? Also, regarding the fish extenders, do we need little gifts for each day of the cruise? I feel like I have a million questions. I am so happy I found this site/thread!

We usually arrive at port between 10:30 and 11 am. Gives us time to check in, get our photo IDs taken, walk around, then eagerly await the boarding time which is anytime from 11:45 to 12:15 pm.

Characters are at the port for photo ops - I've seen Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. There are TVs for kids (and big kids) to watch cartoons. You can also stop by the kids club area of the port to check in your kids. There's a large detailed model of the ship which details the ship's interior/exterior. There's a refreshment stand also if someone is too hungry or thirsty and cannot wait until boarding the ship. There's a small outdoor patio where you can stare at the Wonder.

As far as the Fish Extenders, I am new to it as this will be the first time I do it but I believe you get one gift per person in the group. And you disperse them as you see fit. I guess sometimes the person organizing it will organize who gives to who on what day so you get something everyday? Not quite sure yet how ours is going to work. :confused3

My previous cruises have had between 12-30 cabins doing the FE. We never had assigned days. I think that's mostly for those cruises with TONS of Dis members, where they have 50+ cabins signed up. Besides, on a 3 day it will be so short- you'll need to do it whenever you do get a chance!

You can do one gift per person in the cabin, but that might be a bit much. Most people just do a goodie bag per cabin. Some people do something separate for the kids in the cabin, and others don't. It's up to you! Just participating is fun. :goodvibes

Ok people -We just hit the 90 day mark !!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1::banana::yay:

Booked my Palo ressie this morning:love:, we're not planning any excursions this trip, but may add a snorkle trip in Nasau - anyone have any reccomendations... Silly Pixie please resend the spread sheet to me- I'll try opening on my laptop which has windows 7-.

My best friend just returned from the 5 nite w/ Key West yesterday , They had a great trip, this was their 2nd Disney cruise. Weather was great for Nasau and KW, little rainy @ CC but that was OK because they practically had the island to themselves!
Ridley Pearson was on the ship, Aurthor of the Kingdom Keepers series, doing research for book 5:teacher:!!! He gave a talk about the books and signed books for any who were interested, hope he needs more research and sails with us- my son and I love his books.
School starts here today! Talk to you all soon!

OOoohhh.,.... Was there plenty of Palo ressies available? I can't pay off the cruise until the 31st and want to make sure we can get a ressie for the 2nd night! Its dads bday!:goodvibes

If you cannot get online reservations at Palo, make sure to go to WaveBands (deck 3 forward) at 1pm on the day we board and get in the Palo reservation line to make a reservation. DCL does not release all reservations online. If, for some reason, you have to go on a wait list, the Maitre'D does his best to accommodate all requests.

Thanks Jan! Typically what I will do is make what reservation I can online then when I get onboard I will see if I can get the time we want and cancel the other, if not... at least we have a reservation!

Okay we are now up to 14 cabins!!
Please check out the updated post #144. I will be resending the spreadsheet to everyone, so please look for it in your email. If you don't see it by tomorrow, send me a PM so I can try it again. Thanks!!

Whew! I just caught up on the thread...I don't know how I missed this since I have been obsessing over these boards! lol :surfweb:

We are first time cruisers and I want to make sure these three days are the best! I am already looking forward to booking more Disney cruises in the future. :yay:

Cruising will be Me, DH, DD(11), DD(7 at cruise time) and DS(4). My in-laws will be sailing as well, but booked in a different cabin...this will be their 50th wedding anniversary celebration.

We are looking forward to the FE activity and have discussed some possible designs for it and our magnets. I never realized how much fun PRE-cruise could be!

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Welcome and glad you found us! I have seen your posts on the general DCL boards. Cruising with DH and me will be two sets of kids/grandkids. Our grandchildren's ages at the time we cruise are: two boys (6 and 8) and two girls (4 and 5).

This cruise will be #15 for me! Just love cruising DCL.

I love the pre-planning too. It keeps me pepped up before our cruise.

Hi! We are going on our first Disney Cruise November 21, 2010 too. It will be myself, my husband, our son (10) and our daughter (8). We will be going after spending a week at the parks. We are very excited and I'm interested in learning about the fish extender.

Thanks,
Jackie

Sorry for all the post but I am not allowed to send a PM until I hit ten post. We want to join the FE group but I can't PM Silly Little Pixie yet.

Thanks

fantich...
I guess I'm a simpleton at heart because I was a bit amused by your multiple posts - actually chuckled a little bit.

Well, I broke down and told the kids about the FE group last night (I had initially planned on making it a surprise). They are really excited. I think we might get a head start on a few labels and stuff this weekend! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
