November 21, 2010 Wonder 3 day - FE Info Post #70

Quick question fellow cruisers! As many Dis Cruises I have been on I should know the answer to this but I dont cause we have never stayed on board ship while in port. Are the pools open while in port? We really could care less about Nassau and would like to stay on board and hang out around the pool. But for some reason I was thinking the pools weren't open, hoping I am wrong.

You're wrong!!! Pools are open. I love being on the ship when at port.

We're almost done with the administrative details!!

We closed on our add-on contract this Monday, so all that we have to do now is finalize the banked 2009 point usage for the November land/sea trip! :yay:

I'm considering adding magnets this year (it's only our 2nd Disney cruise and we've never done that before). I saw the thread where Tom offers to make the label type, but where do the rest of you get all of the others? It seems so daunting! :confused3

Many thanks!
Sharon

We purchased our DVC last year and this is our free Cruise. This also happens to be our first Cruise. :) We will be traveling with our 2 girls, ages 7 and 4. I have enjoyed reading the tips and please keep them coming. We are getting very excited.

Yay! It's our DVC free cruise as well. We got HOOKED on DCL after our 4 night cruise in 2008. You will love it! 3 nights is soooo short but I think the shorter cruises are a good way to start and see if you really like it. If you don't have a Passporter guide book for DCL, I highly recommend it. My DH wouldn't read the DIS but he did read the Passporter. I still refer to it when looking at deck plans, room locations, etc because it's faster than using Disney's website.

Welcome!!!:cheer2:

Okay, so far we have 8 staterooms in the fish extender exchange. 4 months to go! If anyone else is interested in participating, please just ask! I think we should cut off new joiners at the 30 day mark- any thoughts on this? In past FE exchanges that is what we have done, so that everyone had time to firm up their gifts. So plenty of time for any newcomers to join us. :thumbsup2

So far the DISers participating are:

Silly Little Pixie
Jayally
Vbreslin
Aliron
Eagles
Cruizen Mama
Preedymtnwest
Soxyes

I'll send a spreadsheet to each participant later this week to your emails :) If your name is not on the list just PM me so I can add your cabin!

Getting excited!!

Woo Hoo!!! I got some of my FE gifts today. I haven't explained the whole FE thing to the kids yet (thought that might be a fun surprise for them if I can manage to keep it quiet), so they were pressing me on who the FE items were for. I kind of told the truth, just not the entire truth! ("friends you guys don't know") ;)

We're looking forward to it. I think it will be fun and my kids will love the delivery and receipt of the suprises! :thumbsup2

I don't mean to exclude anyone, but I like the 30 day cutoff idea just so that the planning can be finalized. I'm anal about planning/packing/etc (there's a bag started with stuff already), and worrying about last minute items will add to my ever increasing grey hair!

Silly Little Pixie...Thanks again for coordinating us - it's much appreciated!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

oh thanks for doing this also. :thumbsup2 this is our first cruise and i am looking forward to it. haven't started putting anything together yet though. i think the 30 days is a good number/cut off.

can't wait for the spreadsheets now.
must start to seriously think about this now.

I have spent MANY MANY hours searching the Creative DISigns board for cruise stuff. I have made a LOT of magnets as well as t-shirts. To help out the newbies with only four months to go, I'm inserting here some particularly good places to look for cruise designs. You saw Tom's already for nametags. Another good one is Millipie, she does LOTS of cruise stuff. I don't think she is currently taking requests, but she has plenty of blanks on this site:

http://www.4shared.com/dir/19077581/4fa6c900/sharing.html

I myself tend to find blanks from designers, and add in the text myself that I want. I save the picture as a jpg or gif file. I then open Powerpoint and import the graphic as a picture and make it the size of the page. I then add word art or a text box on top to customize it. Easy. My kids can even do it!

If you are not so inclined, or see designs you can't edit yourself, you can have the designer personalize it for you. Here are two DISigners who have a good bit of cruise designs (most just do WDW stuff):

1. You can read the rules for Marion's (RustManFan) requests in her first post- then go to the last post and her current signature has her photobucket link in it. Browse away! I don't think she has a lot of blanks but she will personalize for you.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2004894&page=77

2. These are some cute cruise designs (I used some on my last cruise):

Here is her (shadowryter's) DISign thread so you can post requests:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2259769

Now you will spend the next two weeks pouring over these designs! MWAHAHAHAA!!!!:stir: Just be sure to make any requests at least a month ahead of the cruise so you can get them back and made in time.

Enjoy!!!!:rotfl:

Our family is going on this cruise and would like to participate in the fish extenders. I am new to this and want to know how I can get our cabins on this list?

Hi! We will be on this cruise as well! It's our first cruise ever, and we're so excited!! It's me, my DH, my DS-7, and my DS-4. We can't wait!!

We're also going to WDW on that Wed afternoon if I can get my GAD vouchers figured out, and then leaving to drive home on Thurs to beat the traffic. My kids have never been and my DH and I haven't been since we were little kids!

:confused3 I sent you a PM to join the FE list???

Gina

Sorry about that!

I do need your names, ages of kids if any, and email to send the spreadsheet. You can just put GTY if you don't have a room assignment yet :)

I need Massachusetts Mouse's info too!

***BTW... been on 5 Dis Cruises before but never done FE so what is the average cost of the gifts? Maybe a little advice? I like doing stuff like this but want to make sure we make it fun! :woohoo:

Thanks

Hello!!
I am new here to this board and was looking for a thread about people being on the Nov. 21 3 night Bahamian Cruise and look what I found :)

My name is Ineke (pronounced: E-nuh-kuh) and my husband and I are making final arrangements to be on this cruise. It will be just the two of us (probably the only ones without kids). We live in the Netherlands and will be coming over to Florida to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends who live in South Florida. But because we arrive a couple of days before Thanksgiving, we thought his cruise might be a nice way to start our trip.

I have read the post about the idea, not quite sure if I understand completely but I'd love to learn more and participate. Would be fun to "know" some of you before we actually be on the DCL :-)

This is the first time on DCL first time on a cruise, I don't really like being on open water, so I would like to see if I will "survive" this one before going on a longer trip LOL

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Welcome!

This cruise we are cruising with kids and grandkids. DH and I are cruising alone on the 11/18/10 Wonder cruise.

Since you are not sure about cruising the open water, a 3 day is perfect for you. Monday morning, we'll be docked in Nassau, and Tuesday morning, we'll be docked at CC.

WOW Jan lucky you two cruises :woohoo:
I was reading the Itinerary on the Disney website and it says "onboard - 4 pm" is this the time you can board or is this the time the will leave?
Same question for the last day, it says "ashore - 7.30 AM". What time do you need to get off the ship?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm a newbie to this :)

You must be on the ship before 4pm. Boarding usually begins at noon, give or take a few minutes. Mandatory lifeboat drill starts at 4pm, which lasts apparoximately 10-15 minutes. Following the drill, you can head to the sail away party which ends before 5pm.

We like to board around noon so as to take advantage of spending the day on the ship. As soon as you board, lunch is available in two restaurants, Parrot Cay and Beach Blanket. On deck 9, you can get "fast food" at Pluto's Dog House, Goofy's Galley and Pinocchio's Pizzeria. Since this is your first cruise and first time aboard the Wonder, you can spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful ship.

As for debarkation, you are scheduled for breakfast in the dining room where you had dinner the night before. There are two assigned times, depending on whether you were main or late dinner seating. As an alternative, breakfast buffet is available at Beach Blanket. Also, Cove Cafe is open that morning for coffee/tea and pastries. Room service is not available the day we debark. I am usually off the ship by 8:15 or 8:30 am. Debarkation is an fast, easy process, other than not wanting to get off the ship!!!

Hope this info helps and doesn't confuse you!
