November 2013 - Car Rental Rates/Codes

Hi all!

Anyone have good luck finding a decent price on a minivan in November? We need it 11/15-11/24 and all of my prices (using BJs and Costco) come up super high compared to what we normally pay when we travel in later November/early December.

What has everyone found for vans recently?

(note: we rent from home in NC to drive down, not from FL locations)

Thank you!

I'm having the exact same problem. Are we twins? lol
Looking to rent a minivan for 11/15-11/25 out of Charlotte NC. Cheapest I could find is around $550 thru Dollar (and that's with coupon codes).
I thought that since we'd be renting before Thanksgiving that we'd have a better chance of getting a great deal, but not finding that to be the case.
Do the prices go down the closer we get to November?

I think we are twins! We are almost the exact same dates and out of Charlotte!

I found, last night, through Thrifty at the airport (which is the same ownership as Dollar...Hertz) a minivan deal on their site (no BJs or Costco code) for a minivan for 44.99 per day. My total is $467.

Strange thing is, through Dollar...same promotion....same code...same 44.99 per day...same CLT pickup...same dates...total was $40ish more because they charge some other fee in the tax portion...weird!

Let me know if you find anything better than $467 but I booked that one just to have and hope for cheaper. The past 3 years I have gotten way better rates in the last week or so...we paid $240 for 10 days last year...keep checking!

Looks like that 44.99 is the best rate out there so far. I might just go ahead and book it now and keep my fingers crossed for a better deal the closer we get to the trip.

Where are you going to be staying on your trip? We'll be at the Bonnet Creek Resort. Can't wait!

And it's great to finally meet a DISer from Charlotte :)

Alamo at the Charlotte Douglas Airport location with the vroom vroom code 299851 and the vise $30 off code AD2338FDF for 11/14-11/25 is coming up $383.24

for oct 31 to nov 9 the best that I've found with Alamo was 259 with vroom and AU5224JAB for a standard and $269 at National with the KLM code. I don't remember, with Alamo do they have, when you pick standard, an exec aisle or do your simply go to the standard aisle and grab what is there?

We are flying into the Tampa airport this trip 11/9 - 11/16 and I am shocked at the prices. I know we haven't gone in 2 years, but we have always rented a car and I have never seen prices this high. We are traveling with my parents and were hoping to get a minivan. But I can't get the price for an in airport rental lower than $600 (after taxes, etc.). I think we will have to rent two cars instead. I have a reservation for an SUV for $179 with Budget through carrentalsavers website. And my parents will probably get a compact through that website for about $139. I have never used carrentalsavers before has anyone ever had any problems with their reservations using that website? Any hidden fees that we will get hit with at the counter to dramatically alter the price? TIA! :)

carrentalsavers is the best. Nothing hidden. Check it out, it's worth it. As for your rate, that's what we paid for our minivan out of Tampa last August for a week.

Alamo: if you book a standard, you select from the full size row. They do not have a standard row at MCO. They do not have exec. aisles at Alamo, that is National.
National: if you book a standard you do not select from the Emerald aisle rows, you have booked what they call an "emerald reserve" and you select from the full size row. They do not have a standard row at MCO.

I saw that through Travelocity you can book minivans that week for a fair price. They are cancelable (I believe). Unfortunately your dates don't have the best rates, but if I put in 11/8-11/16, it went down to $161 with all the taxes through Advantage. Hopefully if you keep trying your dates it will work for your budget.

Got a mini van for $593 out of Tampa from 10/26-11/10 with the vroom code. I could not get ant other coupon to work with it. I also have a FOX reservation for $485. I like Alamo for the extra driver and wonder if it is worth the $100 to go with Alamo

but my National reservation says Pickup:
Emerald Aisle service Aisle & Executive Service

got my DH a one day rental from MCO- DTD hotel dropoff for 19.28:cool1: much cheaper than 2 shuttle fares... Dollar rental has good rates

I have never seen the prices of car rentals stay so solid for so long. there has been no movement for over a month. Was wondering what if anything is going on? I have been checking 3 times a day for the last month. normally I would see prices move around but nothing for this trip. Still have 4 weeks so hoping things will change. last trip, 3 weeks out was the magic time so hoping for the same.

We will be in Disney from 11/28 to 11/25. We are staying at SSR and do not have plans to rent a car for the week. We did just decide, however, that we wanted to drive to Lego Land for the day. Could someone tell me what would be the best way to get a rental for 1 day?

Just switched my rental reservation. I had 10/31-11/12 SUV mid size with National under the KLM code for 426, but was nervous after hearing the potential issues. I instead got same thing with Hertz under AAA rates and a $45 off coupon for a total of 489 with taxes. (KLM code does not have taxes added and some mentioned getting a bill for them later!)

I feel safer with the AAA rate.

I was searching on Expedia and scored a minivan for $24 per day for Nov 14-18th, through NU. Since it was less than I was finding elsewhere (and had tried unsuccessfully to bid for that on Procedure), I went with it. We really only need a mid-suv, But, for the price, I will take it!

Your original post was very confusing."for oct 31 to nov 9 the best that I've found with Alamo was 259 with vroom and AU5224JAB for a standard and $269 at National with the KLM code. I don't remember, with Alamo do they have, when you pick standard, an exec aisle or do your simply go to the standard aisle and grab what is there?" If you booked a midsize at National and you are an EC member, then you will select from Emerald Aisle, Executive if you qualify.
If you booked anything but a midsize with National, you will go to the appropriate row.
Alamo does not have an exec. aisle, that is National. Alamo at MCO does not have a standard row, you will select from the full size row.

Anyone know which levels of cars have cruise for Avis or Budget? Since we are driving from TX definitely want cruise but only level it's listed as std on is full. Would rather have midsized for the better gas mileage but don't want to give up cruise control
