Several pages back when we were discussing flip flops for the park. Wasn't it the Niki Celos that some of ya'll liked so much? While I was in town this morning I went to Shoe Carnival and tried on several pairs of flip flops trying to find something for the trip. I put the Celos on and couldn't believe how comfortable they are. (I love that they aren't over sized and fit your foot.) The sales woman asked if I needed any help and I just asked if they were good for all day walking. Well.....She turned into a comercial for them. :rotfl: She just kept going on and on about how great they are. Especially for walking all day. So of course I came home with a pair. Now I'm all set on shoes for any warm days that we may have. :goodvibes

does everyone suggest flip flops or would sneakers be better?

I second this - Yak and yeti is one of our must dos every time! We really, really like the food. Way better than Tusker or Rainforest Cafe :thumbsup2

Wow.... We love Tusker House. I guess I'm really going to see if I can grab a reservation. :thumbsup2

has anyone ever driven to disney? if so from where?

we are coming from oston,ma and im trying to find a hotel

if we leave at 4 am how far could we get by 10ish

We've driven from Charlotte, NC which for us is about 8.5 hours. I'd guess the mid point would be the VA/NC border for you....

I can't wear sneakers for any length of time. And on warm days I don't like to wear any kind of shoe anyway. But if you are comfortable in sneakers on a daily basis then that is what you should go with. If you buy new shoes for your trip make sure you break them in ahead of time. :thumbsup2

I used to wear Teva Mush flip flops every trip. For some reason this last trip every pair of shoes I brought (Teva mush, Nike Comfort flip flops, Crocs and Nike running shoes) made my feet hurt :sad2: I ended up at the outlet mall and bought some Sketchers pods and they felt great!!! I'm planning on a good pair of sneakers this trip and my Teva Mush for when my feet might get wet!

With bathroom breaks and meal stops I'd think you'd get to around where 95 cuts over 26 in SC (26 is the turn off for Charleston, but Charleston is out of your way to the east).

I would love to do a cruise and park time. Did you have a TA book this, or did you handle things yourself?

I have a feeling that I will be doing laundry for the first time in Disney on this trip. :guilty:

A little of both... We booked through a TA for the cruise since they offer onboard credit but booked the rest on our own. My TA _IS_ super nice though - she has been patiently putting all my GC #s onto my account for me even though I had THIRTY ONE last time and more on the way for her! :sad2: I feel so bad but she insists on doing it for us and says it is no big deal..!

We will have to do laundry as well, no clue when we will do it though, at AKL or on the ship. We just can't possibly pack two weeks worth of clothing from Portland, OR - the amount would be insane, especially since we bring our own snorkel gear and have to bring fancy clothes for V&A and the ship as well!

It entirely depends on you... for me wearing flip flops all day would be torture - I need the added support of sneakers but I hardly ever wear open toed shoes so I never feel like my feet are unduly sweaty. My coworker even commented on the fact that I DID wear them today... On the other hand my feet hurt even now and I've only been wearing my flip flops for four hours! They are the high rated Reef ones too. :sad1:

What is the difference between POR and POFQ? Those are the 2 I was leaning towards, those and Coronado Springs... I know this is all way off topic, I can stop if you all want me to?

Either of the Port Orleans resorts would be great. We just prefer the smaller FQ. Only one bus stop and no matter where your room is located, you're close to the pool, food court, and bus stop. We stayed at Riverside once and it was quite a hike to the food court and gift shop, but we were close to one of the four bus stops.

I do like the idea of AoA LM rooms. I think your DD would love it there. I know I would!!;)

Whenever I'm at Disney I marvel at how many people are wearing flip flops. Not nice comfy ones, but the cheap Walmart kind. I wonder how they do it.:confused3 It would kill my feet! But the nicer ones with support would be fine I would think if you don't have foot problems (as I do) I have to pretty much wear sneakers the entire trip. I am planning on ordering some Keen shoes I read about on here. They're sort of a cross between sandals and sneakers and should be a lot cooler. I heard a podiatrist one time make the comment that flip flops would continue to keep him in business as long as he cared to work! :rotfl:

I don't technically have any foot problems but whenever I wear flip flops, not the cheap ones but not the expensive ones either they make the bottoms of my feet feel like they are on fire!! My thinking was the weight I put on since having my oh so DD3.5 but who knows, I could never use the flip flops I have now in Disney. But I am so tempted to try out the ones everyone keeps talking about!

So let me tell you what just happened.... FOr some reason my online ADR's said I had conflicting ressies....I didnt though. I couldnt get sci fi for 11 so I did 6 and 5 well one was in mine and another in moms but my phone number.... yea it was conflicting so I called dining to change it... well we started going over my other adrs to see if there was any other conflicts. I have been typing like a bat out of u know where to make sure she didnt cancel any others    I am soooooo mad right now! I FINALLY just now got most of my adrs back at diff times though :headache: :scared: :crazy2:  all my hard work!!!!!! :sad2: :sad1: :scared: I am sooooo mad right now:mad: but now 2 hours later I FINALLY got things ok again:coffee: I dont know what to think right now:sad1: :sad2:

Ah you make the Port Orleans resorts sound so lovely! I really should make a little side trip over there on this trip to check it out. I know we're planning on AoA for our super big trip in 2017 so I might just save that one.

I'm thinking that I would like to go to a different resort every trip. I'm so envious of the DIS'ers that have a bazillion different resorts listed in their signature!:)

That is so awful and strange at the same time!!! Did she speak English? Can you call back and see if they can fix it for you. I can't believe how bad that got!!! :crazy2:

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I would be LIVID and of course they always say there is nothing they can do... I wish there WAS - but no, that would make too much sense to build in a way for them to fix their mistakes! I admit I am way too scared to call reservations for this reason! :crazy2:

Oh she spoke English but she was an older woman and I should have know better :scared:

OMG! If that had happened to me I'd have been a wreck!! So glad you were able to get it all straightened out. Relax and try to have a good night. I am so excited that I have my MVMCP tickets now- I purchased them today!! :cool1::cool1: The only thing left now is our airfare and payoff of trip end of Sept. Its all coming together!!

I didn't mean anything by that, just thinking that their might have been a language gap. But a generation gap can be just as bad!:upsidedow

Are you missing anything now, or are some of the times just messed up?

I also cannot wear flip flops. I wear sneakers daily in all kinds of weather. So wearing sneakers at Disney is natural for me. But I always make sure that we each have 2 good pairs of sneakers on our trip and we alternate between them.

Oh no! I'm sorry that happened to you. I would be so mad that I would have called back and demanded to speak with a supervisor. I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end.

I'm thinking that I would like to go to a different resort every trip. I'm so envious of the DIS'ers that have a bazillion different resorts listed in their signature!:)
That's what I hope to do: visit a different resort each trip. So far I have: ASsports 2008, CBR2011, AoA 2012...I'm hoping to try one of the other mods next year but that will depend on what DB and DSIL would like to do as well as they will likely be joining us on their first trip together to Disney and they know nothing about planning.

I bring 2 or 3 pairs of sneakers. I don't wear the same pair two days in a row...if I do, my feet hurt. Not sure if it's all in my head...lol. I will also bring my croc flip flops in case we do a water ride...or it rains...or if my feet get too hot.

Did you check Southwest this week? It seems that their fares dropped significantly. I booked our flights earlier this week. Our departure flight had been $263 for the one way and it went down to $105. We got a late evening flight but that's what we wanted as our departure day is only for travel. Our return flight had been $158 and even went up to $184 one time and I was able to get it for $98. Of course I used our SW points which were enough to cover all 4 R/T tickets and still have some extra points.
