November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Good Morning Everyone!!!:dance3:

Sounds like everyone's plans are coming together nicely and now we WAIT!!:hourglass

Here's a question of the day:

When do you usually put your Christmas tree up? And is it artificial or real?

I usually have mine up by the first of December. We have had an artificial one for 3 years now. If it were up to me, we would still be cutting our own and have that awesome smell of pine in our house for a month or so. When we did that, we usually put it up two weeks before Christmas. I was seriously depressed the first year we didn't get a live tree, but DH just didn't want to fool with it any more. :sad2: Still, I have wonderful memories of our family of 6 traipsing through the woods and picking out the "perfect" tree, cutting it down and later decorating it together. :santa:

Come on...tell us your stories!:mic:

We put our tree up the weekend or week after Thanksgiving. We used to do a real tree, but when we had kids, the falling pine needles were a hazzard (DS was 6 mo old and putting anything in sight in his mouth!). I burn the Balsam and Cedar Yankee Candle. It smells so real! I had a neighbor once comment on how beautiful my "real" tree was not knowing it was an artificial tree with a candle burning on the mantle near it :)

Woohoo! I talked to my wife this morning and told her I want to spend our next trip to WDW over Halloween so I can celebrate my birthday there (my birthday is Halloween) and the kids can go to MNSSHP. She was cool with it but reminded me we would have to take both kids out of school for it. I'm ok with that as long as we don't do it all of the time. That trip will be 2 years away, but should be fun!

No, the ME tags are the sticky yellow ones they use to know where to deliver your luggage.

The other tags come with your resort info packet.

:)

Next question...will the resort info packet come at about the same time as the ME tags? It feels like last time, I got the resort info packet soon than now, but of course my last trip was 3 years ago, so things change..

Thanks to everyone for all the help on here, although I dont post a lot, I do read the threads daily and have learned a lot!

I have the opposite worry... my cat would definitely chew on the branches of a fake tree, so we'd end up rushing her to the vet or at least buying a new tree every year anyway! :lmao:

How far in advance should ME tags arrive? We have always rented a car and not used ME, so I dont know what to expect.

Someone on the POP board posted that they received them for a 12/9 arrival date. Our arrival Is 11/1 and we haven't gotten them yet. is that odd?

You get them about 30 days out BUT I warn you read them and read the tickets inside. The first year, my brother was left off. Last year my DH. They send all new stuff out but you have to call them and let them know asap

I always get a real tree. We actually celebrate our holiday on Dec. 21, per the old Norse tradition of Yule, and it wouldn't be the same without a real tree. In fact, my family always traditionally got a white pine tree, but they don't consider that a normal Christmas tree around here, so I end up waiting until the last minute sometimes because I'm hoping to find a white pine, instead of a Frasier fir or spruce. The last couple years I've been lucky enough to find my pine...

I'm actually more concerned about our Halloween decorations this year. I usually go all out, but we're leaving for WDW on Halloween, so I'm going to have to force myself to temper things since we'll be gone almost two weeks. I'm going to try to put the energy into the winter decor instead. We've been honorable mention in the local holiday decorating contest for both years we were in this house, and I'd really like to get over that hurdle and win first or second place this time...

Yay! The new My Disney Experience app is available in the Play Store!
It's a great start, and I can't wait to use it on the trip. I'm hoping they hurry and add some of the features I have read about.
Anybody else use either Mobile Magic or the new one when they go? We used it last year and since we don't plan rides at all and just freewheel, it was great to be able to see wait times.

Thanks for the heads up! Just downloaded it!

Happy Tues Afternoon! Work has been BUSY so far this week!

Good Morning!

I think it's so exciting that you already know you're going next December!:cool1: I think for the first time in many years we are skipping our Disney trip next year to save for a European Cruise. Of course, we weren't planning two trips in this year either, so I never say never.;)

Maybe while you're there in November you can do a little resort hopping and figure out where you want to stay in Dec. :goodvibes

Lol...I know every vacation including Disney thru 2014! :lmao: I admitted the other day that I am a travel-holic!:rotfl:

We are definitely doing this! My girls love P & F and so do my wife and I.

oh yes, my dd and dh eat sleep and breath perry lol

My dd7 told me Sunday that she wants to do this and I had not planned on it. So now I'm trying to work it into my touring plans. I'd like to pick between Germany, China & Canada (since she's already working on these countries for American Heritage Girls.) Does anyone know if all of these countries have Agent P? I also remember from Kim Possible that some are better than others. Anyone heard yet which ones are the best?

Well....
We actually start November 1 - with the "daily life stuff" it takes us at least 2 weekends to complete everything (tree, decorations and lights outside)
Yes it is early but we leave for Disney on Thanksgiving Eve for a week and by the time we get back its like a mad dash for Christmas.
Our 7 1/2 ft fake tree is entirely made up of ornaments from Disney of course and Hallmark magic ornaments. My father used to work for Hallmark and every year he always brought home at least one or two of these ornaments so I kept the tradition and get a few every year. They sing, have dancing lights some have movement. I have to admit it is truly magical.
We get a new ornament when we visit in October and have them shipped home just in time to decorate the tree.

We usually put ours up the first weekend in Dec. We have always gone and cut one down. I was actually thinking of getting an artifical one since we will be in disney and we could put it up before we left but I would miss the pine scent to much so we will just wait until we return. (Dec 6th) My husband would be thrilled if I decided on artifical. One year we bought one for our son who was stationed in Washington state and I hadn't told Dh I was going to do this so when he saw it he got all excited and thought it was for us Ha Ha!!!!
