November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Good Morning Everyone!!!:dance3:

Sounds like everyone's plans are coming together nicely and now we WAIT!!:hourglass

Here's a question of the day:

When do you usually put your Christmas tree up? And is it artificial or real?
We put up 7 pixiedust:

So we start the weekend after Halloween. Only one is 12 ft., the others are 6 ft. or smaller - but it takes a long time to decorate them all & put up the lights outside, and all the other decorations...

We decorate a lot for Halloween and Christmas. My DH has earned the nicknames "Spooky" at Halloween and "Sparky" at Christmas!!!!

I wish there were more Holidays where we could put up lights!!! :yay:

good morning all

looking to get some serious disney stuff done on my day off tomorrow (wishful thinking)

how does everyone usually pay off their trip? i booked thru a ta so im not sure what happens after we make our last payment.

Even though things are not so great family or job wise my silver lining is 54 days!!!!

on a funny note we realized last night that somehow we forgot day 55 on our chain..not sure how since all 3 of us worked on it together :confused3

I usually put mine up the day after Thanksgiving. BUT this year since we will be in Disney shortly after that, I will wait til I get home:) But that means itll only be up for like 2 or 3 weeks. Oh well. I dont want to put it up before we leave because we now have 2 kittens and well the Christmas tree and them dont get along:rolleyes1

I usually have mine up by the first of December. We have had an artificial one for 3 years now. If it were up to me, we would still be cutting our own and have that awesome smell of pine in our house for a month or so. When we did that, we usually put it up two weeks before Christmas. I was seriously depressed the first year we didn't get a live tree, but DH just didn't want to fool with it any more. :sad2: Still, I have wonderful memories of our family of 6 traipsing through the woods and picking out the "perfect" tree, cutting it down and later decorating it together. :santa:

Come on...tell us your stories!:mic:

we do a fake tree since our apt is so small. Usually the weekend after thanksgiving or first weekend in dec. Usually while we are making thanksgiving dinner the christmas music gets turned on lol

When I was younger we had a tradition of putting up the tree on Thanksgiving Day. It was fake when we were in an apartment, then real when we moved into a house. After I got divorced I went for a few years of not having a tree at all. After I got remarried we had a 3ft tree in our apartments and then finally a 7ft tree in our house. They are fake because my wife is allergic to air. :rotfl2: I'm a bit of a grinch so I put it up when my wife tells me to, but I could go without it if it weren't for the kids.

We booked through Disney using our Disney Visa card then immediately paid that card off, so we essentially paid cash for it. :thumbsup2 The bonus of doing it this way was getting the Disney Rewards Dollars for the trip. :yay: By the time we get to WDW we'll have just over $300 in Disney Dollars for expenses. That covers at least the BBB package and probably our tips for our TS meals. :thumbsup2

:santa: Our 7ft tree is artificial and we love putting it up between late November and early December. This year, we will make it a point to have it up BEFORE we leave for our WDW trip. That way, it'll be there to greet us when we return home! :santa:

We put our tree up the first weekend of Advent, which in our church calender year is that start of the Christmas season. Normally that is the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year its two weekends after. Which works out for me because we will be leaving the day after Thanksgiving and coming back the first weekend of Advent.

We leave our tree up until Epiphany, which is Jan 6th.

We have a 'fake' tree. We've had a couple real ones many years ago, but putting up the tree and decorating it isn't something my dh is into. And I can manage the fake one on my own.

I love Christmas!

Good morning all, be awhile since I've been on here. It has been hell around here for the past 2 weeks and we are finally getting back to normal. 72 days till we leave and I haven't even thought about the Christmas tree. We usually put ours up the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Our tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving and stays up until Dec 31. It's tradition in my family to keep it up until Epiphany, but by Dec 31, it's gotta come down or i start to feel like a serious hoarder/claustrophobe. lol We always get a real tree.

How far in advance should ME tags arrive? We have always rented a car and not used ME, so I dont know what to expect.

Someone on the POP board posted that they received them for a 12/9 arrival date. Our arrival Is 11/1 and we haven't gotten them yet. is that odd?

We actually do the 12 days of Christmas and "Little Christmas" on Epiphany. My dd opens :santa: gifts on Christmas morning and one gift from Mom and Dad. Then for the next 11 days she opens a small gift from Mom and Dad. On Epiphany she opens whatever is left. Then we take the tree down.

Did you set it up with your reservation & give them your flight numbers? They usually come pretty quickly.

I just called & made my ME reservations last night. I'll let you know when we get ours. :)

We always seem to get them around 6 weeks from departure, I would say for an 11/1 arrival you'd be looking at the next two weeks - it's always fun to get those, makes is so real!!! :thumbsup2

Normally the ME tags arrive about 30 days out give or take a few days either way

Yes, I set that up about 6 weeks ago... It still seemed a little early to me but since I've never done it, doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks everyone for the answers!!

Getting the ME tags now for a 12/9 trip seems awfully early to me. Usually they are 30 days out.

if you dont have me reservations do you still get the tags?

No, the ME tags are the sticky yellow ones they use to know where to deliver your luggage.

The other tags come with your resort info packet.
