Anyone that's been for Thanksgiving, can you recommend a place that you've been to with a decent traditional Thanksgiving meal?

You couldn't ask for a place more into the Thanksgiving holiday than Liberty Tree Tavern in MK - that is their specialty...

I will say however, we've gone there I think three times and the last was not so great - could have been an off day, but it was bad enough that I won't be returning.

I always wanted to try Liberty Tree Tavern - seems like the PERFECT place for a Thanksgiving meal - but I've been completely scared off by the "Avoid Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving" hype.

The last time I was at the Liberty Tree Tavern it was a character meal and it was terrible. ;( I've been scared off since that.

I did however work on my Disney scrapbook all afternoon and will post pics tomorrow when they dry.

Tomorrow when the kids are at a bday party, I will be finishing planning journals now that I have hours.

I just received a 30% Pin for "room only" for dates in November 2012! I was surprised because we've already booked a full package with DDP and 6 Day Park Hoppers. The Pin is valid for travel dates beginning the day after we arrive (which is the day after Thanksgiving). Does anyone know if we change our reservations to a "room only" to take advantage of the offer and then add the DP and Tix? If so, I'm assuming this will require a split stay? Will that require checking in twice? If I'm not making any sense, please excuse me - I've been weeding all day and I think the pollen has gone to my head. Any suggestions or input you can give will be greatly appreciated!

Just call them and see if they can apply it to your package you already have. I have done that before

Yes you can add p hoppers and ddp after booking. What other dates does it cover? Nov 1?

Congrats! Lucky you! Snail mail or email offer? That's what I am holding out for Nov 24 - dec 1!

If you have dates outside of the offer that you will also be staying, you will probably have 2 reservations. You will officially have to check out and back in, but we have never had to move rooms if staying at the same resort. What it did mean was an early morning for mom to get it all squared away in the morning before heading out for rope drop! It wasn't a big inconvenience; we have often gone a day before free dining goes into effect after Thanksgiving and it's worth a little inconvenience.

Who is NOT going with the ddp? Just curious. It seems like if you do one character meal in a day it pays for itself, no?

We aren't using the DP this time, unless we happen to get an offer for FD. It was a hard decision because I like to have everything paid for in advance, and I like the convenience of the DP, but I did some number crunching and it's way cheaper for us to go OOP than with the DP. I figure we'll be fine using QS meals for all but about 4 meals, and I gave us a pretty decent snack budget so in the end we end up paying about half of what the DP would cost us. Last time I found that I ended up paying OOP for quite a few "snacks" above and beyond what the DP covered (bottles of water, slushes, popsicles, mickey ice cream bars, that kind of stuff), and we found we ended up having a hard time finishing all of our meals. This way we can have the right amount of "snacks" and we won't be waisting food either, so we're not too broken up about not being able to have a TS meal every day.

I agree. We have DD11 and DS5 who both eat very little and don't enjoy their down time for the day being at a restaurant table. For us a room discount is better (makes a deluxe sound more possible?). If it weren't for the kids style, we would be all over free dining as adults.

We got a 20% pin last week and the travel agent told us nothing needed to be changed, if its a room only pin it just takes the discount off of the days it was applicable to (such as our first and last days are full price but the other 5 are discounted) the only way you have to do a split stay is if you have a promo like the free dining. Hope that helps!

I wish we could skip the dining plan but the fact of the matter is I have a family that can EAT! Has anyone signed up for the Southwest cc? with the 2 free flights? I just did and got approved-not that I need another cc BUT I like the 2 free roundtrip flights-will save us about $500!

We like having a nce breakfast on vaca and a sit down dinner is a must so our option that fits us best is the deluxe dining plan. Last time we went to WDW as a family, we stayed CL so the reg one was fine but no CL this time

Me! Me! Me! I just got it earlier this year. I signed up when they were offering 60,000 bonus points to sign up, plus 6,000 annual points. I kept a close eye on flights to Dallas and got DD and I each a round trip non-stop flight from New Orleans to Dallas for 20,000 points total! I still have 40,000 points left so I think I'm going to use the points to pay for our rental car and hotel also. A practically free vacation... gotta love that!

Me! Me! Me! I just got it earlier this year. I signed up when they were offering 60,000 bonus points to sign up, plus 6,000 annual points. I will look into this. I need to purchase airfare for nine. Early indications look like $425 per person including bag fees.
