November 2012 Code Watch!!

Hi all,

I've been lurking for a few days, but decided to jump on in. We're planning a trip from Nov 3-Nov 10 this year. We usually go in Jan (right about now, as a matter of fact), but we were just in the World last Aug. for 2 weeks! I'm really looking forward to the nice weather and hopefully, some Christmas decorations in early Nov.

I haven't decided where to stay yet. We often stay in Windsor Hills, which I love and it's a definite possibility. However, if FD is offered during our stay, I might get 2 rooms at POP. We are a family of 4, but my B/G twins will be 11 on this trip and they don't like sleeping in the same bed. That's one of the reasons we like offsite. Much more space for the same or cheaper price. We stayed 3 days at the Poly in Aug. and loved it, but man, is it ever expensive, even with a discount. This trip is being paid for with whatever money I can save from the household budget, so we will be watching our pennies while we're there.

Since both our kids are "adults" now, TS meals will be happening less often. My kids don't eat enough to justify paying for the dining plan (over $200/day for 4 adults), so we'll just have to see if FD is offered.
Staying off site is a great option for many, especially for large parties and you can get such a great deal for much less than staying on site, with more room, so I definitely understand looking at Windsor Hills. ;) As someone else mentioned, POR does have the trundle and there are the family suites. But two connecting rooms is fun too! :thumbsup2

Ooh! This may put Hollywood and Vine on our radar. We were never interested before, but my little one loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates! Then we can do an early ADR and dash over to TSM.

Now I'm heading over to make my first note on my planning sheet! Let the planning begin... Thanks for the inspiration!
We are definitely doing H&V now that they've added Jake. I hadn't really considered it before, because my son only knew Oso. He hadn't watched Einstein's really. So we just didn't consider. But he LOVES Jake. And while we don't watch Oso anymore, he does like the Little Einstein's now after seeing the disney jr. show at the studios. He watches them a lot on the computer. So H&V breakfast is definitely on the list now. I used to work at H&V 15 years ago on my college program, so it will be fun going back there again, this time as a guest, not a cast member!

Joining in! We hope to travel to Disney 11/3-10.

Our last trip was Dec 2011!:goodvibes

Right now we are trying to decide between 3 resorts:
Caribbean Beach (Pirate Room)-stayed there in 2009
Port Orleans Riverside (Princess Room)
Art of Animation

I am hoping for a free QS pin for Mods, but I'll take what we can get. I really don't want to do the regular dining plan, it just overwhelmed us last time. Esp with F&W we won't need all the food! We will probably do one table service-LOVED Askershus last year!

Thanks for letting me join in!
Welcome! All great resorts. Here's hoping you get a great pin!!!

We are booked at POR Nov 10- 17. This is our 3rd trip. I am so excited :cool1:. I can't wait to see the parks decorated or Christmas. I am hoping for free dining. I know these dates are at the end of Jersey week, have they been blacked out for free dining in the past?
Yeah, that is our week too. Yep, it is the end of Jersey week, the weekend of the November 10-11th, so who knows. Maybe it will be offered starting that Monday, 12th? Plus it is Veteran's Day, Festival of the Masters and Wine & Dine Half Marathon that weekend. I would almost think they will black out that weekend due to all that. But who knows. :confused3;)
My dh is trying to talk me into staying for Thanksgiving day....what do you all think? I just am worried about the crowds.....but his buddy told him they were at MK last Thanksgiving and the crowds weren't bad, dunno hard to believe
If you go into it knowing how crowded it will be, then sure, go and have fun. Like your DH said, maybe not plan to go commando and do a lot, but plan some other stuff- less popular attractions etc. I would definitely schedule an ADR though and not risk trying to get somewhere to eat. I think the crowds probably aren't awful in the am, but by 11am, it is pretty bad.

Yeah I'm not sure.......they even said they got into Crystal Palace with no problems(meaning they didn't have a ressie) Just seems to good to be true :confused3 Dh says who cares if it is crowded, we've seen it all and done it all :rotfl: he says I'm too gunho and have to do and see everything several times, he's probably right, I need to learn to relax more.....I just really do not like large large crowds, especially with a lil one in tow, but he'll be 5 then so maybe it won't be as bad as our last trip, we went 3rd wk of Sept, which is supposed to be lower crowds and when we've been before it always had been, but it was crazy last time, the waits were avg 45+ minutes and it was like walking thru jello just crammed, we even missed Fantasmic because both lines(their was two shows one night) were insanely long hours before show time, I was so so so dissapointed on that one :(
Yeah, getting a walk up at CP on Thanksgiving sounds too good to be true to me. When I worked on Thanksgiving day at H&V, I never saw the end of the line at our cafeteria (it was cafeteria style back then). I swear, it was just people coming in ALL DAY LONG. it was crazy crowded. I think turkey day can be done, but just know it will be crowded and you won't get to see much without a huge wait, unless you fit in a few things early at RD. Otherwise, you can go and just enjoy what you can, with the expectation set that there will be long waits. I am like you- i don't like the crowds. It isn't even the long lines (although we refuse to wait more than 20 minutes for anything), it is the crowded walkways and paths that get to us. We just get annoyed. That's why we try and visit in the off season and arrive at RD and use FP, but that still doesn't help the fact there are crowded restaurants, shops and walkways.

Headed to WL from Nov. 7 -17  So excited!
Woo hoo- love WL!!! We are there at the same time too.

Oh and for all of you newbies to the thread, I have set up a facebook group. It is fun and easy to keep in touch there too and get advice on our dates, plans, budgets etc.

It is a private group for now, so please friend me first and let me know you are a DISer wanting in the Nov group and I will add you. You can find me as Michelle Easler Peters on FB and the group is November 2012 DIS'ers.

I would like everyones thoughts on these....its hard because we will have 9 adults(one is 13 so techniqually a 'disney adult' ) and 2 kids. We are not fancy ppl, we enjoy burgers and steak. Awesome! We'll be there at the same time! :cool1: :cool1:

My only concern would be having 3 table service meals on some days. That could really eat into a lot of your park time. As long as those are easy days without too much on the agenda, I think it could be doable. I didn't see Be Our Guest in there? I'm hoping it's open by the time we go. I'm a little worried since the opening of Dumbo was pushed back. :sad2:

My SO and myself will be heading to Disney at the beginning of November!!! I am sooo excited, last time we went was in January 2009 (his first trip EVER! to WDW) and we (I) can't wait! Last time we went it was so cold for pretty much our whole trip so I am looking forward to some warm weather!

Our dates are not set in stone yet but we are thinking about Nov 2/3 to 8/9.

We know we for sure want to catch the end of the F&W Festival but we want to see if free dining or resort codes will be available around these dates. We know we aren't planning on doing the Mickey Christmas party on this trip so we don't have to worry about working that in.

We are also working on who to invite. The last time we went it was just the two of us but I personally love doing Disney with as many people as possible haha. I grew up going every winter with my family, grandparents, and different sets of extended family so for me, the more the merrier! We are thinking about taking SO's mom and/or sister (who have never been) or going with another couple (not sure which of our friends would be the most Disney fun though haha)

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to stay at a deluxe resort. Since we will most likely be taking people that have never done Disney, I am convinced that a deluxe resort will be the best way to convert our friends and family into Disney freaks! I have personally stayed multiple times at each: CSR (this is also where I took SO on our last trip and he really enjoyed it a lot more than he thought he would), POR, CBR, and also many many trips about 5 miles away at my grandparents place in Orlando.

Sorry this got so long but had to share my excitement and begin to lay out the beginning of my plans! Can't wait to share the fun in planning with everyone here!! We are going back to DISNEY!!:woohoo:

I'd say I agree... even 2 a day is hard when you are doing it days in a row! This time we are going for one a day. I have to admit though, with all the walking and playing we did I have never gained a pound, but it still sits on you. I hate the feeling of not being hungry when I went to dinner and how nice would it have been to LOSE weight? :lmao:

We will be there from 10.30-11.3 and then cruise and come back one more night from 11.10-11.11 so we can run the wine and dine half! Right now we are booked for French Quarter but I would LOVE to switch over to Poly! Come on pin code! Lets go!

I came across this thread today and just had to share.

MDGeurts has a PTR documenting her quest to raise money for her trip by sewing AG doll clothes and bags. Her work is amazing. I wish I had that much talent. I wouldn't be going work every day - that's for sure!!

Link to her ultimate park bag. LOVE IT! I want a Minnie one.

I want a park bag in either Minnie or Tinkerbell. Tink is my favorite character, but pink is my favorite color. I'd also like to get DD a bag so she can carry her own autograph book, but since I make our autograph books, they are a lot thicker than the ones sold at Disney. But if I get DD a bag, I have to come up with something for DS. Would a small messanger style bag with Lightin McQueen or Buzz Lightyear be to girlish? I'm thinking yes. Maybe I could find a backpack instead? :confused3

I've already messaged her on how to purchase something from her. If anyone is interested, I'll post it when I hear back from her.

Paid for the trip today! November 23-30 (changed our dates a bit). I can also play with the dates if FD come up.

We are staying at POFQ. DH, DD#1 will be 14, and DD#2 will be 11. So excited!

I loooove them!

I am now second guessing my ADR's...what if it IS too much sit down ressies? I dont really think it is....but maybe Im missing something :confused3

I just dont wanna feel like Im wasting them on CS meals....I figured the first part of my trip HAS to be like that because there are other ppl who are NOT on the DxDP joining us. I will look and try to tweak the last few days.....maybe a Signature place...How is Narcoosee's? OR Fultons Crab House?

I totally understanding wanting to get your money's worth out of the DxDP! It's a struggle for me too.

I like the idea of trying some signature restaurants. There are so many great choices.... Flyin Fish, California Grill, or what about CRT for your girls? I know you already have Akershus, but I just love being in the castle. I haven't tried Narcosee's or Fultons. I think you've made some great choices, and I'm sure everyone is going to be thrilled. :goodvibes

Hi! I'm new to this board and hoping to take my 4 year old to Disney World Nov. 2012. Arriving the 8th I beleive. I'm beyond excited!

I think it looks good- you have some fantastic choices, but I agree, the days with 3 meals would just be too much for me. I would say try and do a few signatures instead. CRT is always a good one to try. Jiko is on our list and I know it is great. What about Hoop Dee Doo? We love it and do it almost every trip. Cali Grill is always fabulous and has amazing views over the MK!

Deluxe is definitely the way to go to impress someone! After always staying in mods (mainly POR), the first time we stayed in a deluxe- AKL, happened to be on a business trip (yep, i looked to see if any Disney hotels were on the approved list!)----DH was hooked. He was like, why did we ever stay anywhere else? LOL! So that led us to buy DVC so we can always stay deluxe now! Can't wait to hear what plans you have!!!:wizard:

Welcome to the boards!!! My son is 4yo too. He LOVES WDW!!! Your 4yo is going to have a ball. I have some trip reports in my signature if you want to read about traveling with a toddler. My son has been 3x now, so we've experienced it all with a little one. Pirate League and the Pirates and Pals Cruise were some of his favorites this past October! The PIrate League is affordable too at $30! Definitely check it out. :wizard::thumbsup2

So DD12 tells me she wants to try lobster......well Narcoosee's it is! And we added CRT....that will open a few days...now on to writing everything down and praying i get ALL the ADR's! ACK!

Ahh I totally agree! We talked about it tonight and decided on staying at the Beach Club!!! I am so excited- we love the pool and the breakfast buffet and the seafood buffet for dinner. It will also be super nice being in walking distance to Epcot for F&W.

Now what is the best way to go about getting a PIN that everyone speaks of? I would love to get the Free Dining one because that would be right up my SO alley to not have to pay for meals OOP when we are there! Is it best to wait to hear when public dates for Free Dining are announced (or if they even are)? I'm a little confused as to how it all works so any info would be appreciated!!
