Rates for Alamo just dropped big time for full size cars. I used the VISA code 7015504 and coupon AD2338FDF, Nov 7-13 for a total of 140.94.

If was strange, the midsize, compact etc were higher.

I booked with carrentalsavers.com for our Nov-Dec trip and got a standard car with Alamo for 8 days for $158.67 total, using the double up-grade coupon. This also includes an additional driver for free. Had never heard about them until reading some recent posts on this board. You can check out coupon codes on the left. When you click on one, it inputs it into the "Smart Book" window, under preference. Just confirm it is the coupon you want, as it will input all car company specific coupons in the preference drop down menu.

I was a bit nervous using this site, since I had never heard about them. After booking you are given an ID #. When viewing your reservation details, you can see your confirmation #. I then went into Alamo to view my reservation, and it is there. Just enter the confirmation numbers when entering. No need to enter the letters at the end. I also called Alamo and confirmed my reservation, so all is legit.

FYI, if you use the double up-grade or even free up-grade coupon, your car rental details will show the car you booked. When you go to Alamo to view your reservation, it should indicate the up-grade. These were the best rates I could find for my vac dates at this time.

I used the priceline name-your-own-price deal a few months ago for my trip this Nov. 11/1-11/14: $350, mid-size through Hertz. I thought this was a pretty good rate

I used Priceline for 11/26-12/3 and got $212 for a mid-size, which is much lower that I had been able to get using any number of codes/coupons. I'm happy with that.

I just got 200.68 for those dates, the only difference might be your pick up and drop off times?

The code goes in the box ID/Corp ID. I hope it works for you

I don't get it, when I do your dates, it's the same price as mine. I have pickup at 9:30 PM and drop off at 3:30 PM if that makes a difference.

Good luck, it seems it's only for Economy, standard and full size cars, the rest were way higher.

I need to pick up and return at 9:30 am. I just tried backing up the pick up time from your 3:30, and it was at 1:30 it goes to $181 for standard size, and at 10:00 it goes up to $252. Strange how this code it tied to the time.

You really have to play with the drop off times with Alamo. I'm traveling from 11/13 - 11/20. The money times for me were pick up at 1100am and drop off at 700am. If I went 30 minutes either side of that the price went from $166 to $236 for an economy car. Odd

I just tried the code and the best I could do was 233.00 standard for the dates of 11-11 through 11-18. Thank you.

P.S. I tried all feasible times with no change in price.

OK thanks. I booked the weekly special with a mousesavers' "code", but I have heard that some use another coupon to get a further discount, I just don't have the coupon code to use. If anyone has a coupon can u please share it? Thanks. Keeping my fingers crossed that rates drop in Nov.

Did you try the code you used and the coupon I used (MUWZ023)? That should be $35 off I think. It was listed on the early pages of this thread.

do you have to physically have to have the coupon when you pick up the rental car?

I'm not sure, we always bring a copy just in case. If you need a copy of the coupon, google " Alamo Visa" and it brings you to the Visa/Alamo page and click on the $ 30 off and it gets you to the coupon.

Just an update on my above post...tried again this morning and now I have it down to $118....11/13 - 11/20, pickup 11am, dropoff 7am Used Costco $30 off coupon and the other code they offer.

This is very strange. I was checking earlier (less than an hour ago) for 10/29-11/5 and I was getting $269 for a standard SUV. I just checked and the rate is now $388!! I'm putting in the exact times and dates as I did before. These prices are prior to the coupon mentioned above. Any clue?

I just reserved a car with Budget by using my Capital One Visa rewards card. I had an intermediate SUV before for $209 total. Using the rewards card the total price was $182.99 (this is a non-Saturday keep reservation).
Just an option for those of you who have one. It's also nice to not actually have to pay "real" money for the reservation.

omg thank you !! you prompted me to change my times around and thus changed what I had been seeing by $160 ! just scored an economy (which I believe will be a compact at Alamo) car for my 9 day trip for a grand total of $119 !! I tried the above code and also the costco code and coupon which was just a few bucks cheaper

So for everyone reading this, it's totally true about the price difference if you change your times around, even by a half hour !
