Well everyone, that Southwest thing is called "DING" and it gets put on your tool bar. I signed up yesterday, got 2 reward pts just for signing up and I already had a special posting from them for March through June. Had to be ordered by 5:00pm CST today. Prices from LI to Orlando was only $68 one way. Oh well, I already have my flts and I missed the cut off time, but can see this might be pretty good.

I'll keep watching for maybe the NOV time frame even though we already have our tix's. Book my rental car Sunday also. Using Budget because drop off is the easiet and Closest to the terminal.

Have a "Magical" evening

Ken

well i just booked our airfare too :) we have decided to fly down late Thursday night and spend one night at WDW (going to DisneyQuest) and then onto a Dis-friend's for friday night in Cocoa.

anyone have DVC points they are interested/willing to rent me for one night?? PM me if so

our return flight on Sat isn't until 2:30 -- i figure the airport will be a madhouse that weekend -- should I consider a stop along the way like to the Space center or best not to on this travel day??

Molli

Molli,
We are used up on our DVC points from this past cruise. Doogie, are you checking in? Doogie is the DVC points expert as far as I am concerned. He can probably point you in the right direction. I know the DVC boards here on the DIS have lots of info about renting points. It may be worth looking into.

Willie

Molli,

Might be able to help out, I have 39 borrowed 2006 pts that I must use this use year, ends Feb 2006, and really don't know if we will use them so. let me check with the better half and my daughter and will email you tonight when I get home.

Hope this helps.

ken

Molli, last year we had late seating which meant late breakfast on disembarkation day. We had a good breakfast, got on DCL bus and headed to the airport. We had a 12:15 flight. We were checked in and at ATA terminal by10:40. The lines seemed to get worse around 11:30.

If you have no DVc points available check with DCL. They "take care" of us every year at WDW before our sailing.....

Hello November 19th cruisers!

I can't remember when I last posted. (It's been probably a few months.)

We're having to postpone this cruise. :sad1:

DH's work plans have changed as his father recently passed away. (He's had to use most of his vacation time.) The good news is we're already rebooked for July 22, 2006. (Another 2-stopper at CC! YESSSS!!!!) Is anybody here booked on that one too? LOL!

I've introduced ourselves on the cruise meets thread for that sailing, and will still be in touch with many of you on the regular DISBOARDS.

Have fun! :wave2: Wish we didn't have to wait so long for our next cruise :sad2: , but we're not letting the double-dip CC get away from us!

Oh Mickeyhugger, I am so sorry for your loss.

I am glad you are getting to rebook and getting to have that two-stopper :flower:

We will miss you but have a great time on that trip

Uh Willie? Have you heard about the Texas Legislature and the school year? There is a bill that has made it out of committee that would make it manditory for the school year to start the first Tuesday after Labor day, effective next fall. This would effect our cruise, for we could not get that much time off for the boys from school. :sad2: I will let you know what I hear. . .

Teresa,
That bill is not going to fly. Too many school districts want to start early. The thing they did two years ago where they mandated a school start date was a joke. Most school districts got exemptions to start when they wanted. Don't sweat this one.
Besides, you should be spending your time finding us some AIR FARES!

I have been watching Continental. Staying around $300+. I want to take a noon flight back that Saturday the 26th. But so does everyone else in Orlando.

Willie

Sorry to hear that Mickeyhugger.....I have a different way of thinking as for school and work......DDs learn A LOT more than 90% of all the others their ages when we take a vacation.....weather it be in our r.v. driving out west to the black hills, devils tower, grand canyon etc. or taking them to Las Vegas (for a friends wedding) or sailing to St. Thomas, St. Maarteen, Nassau, Freeport, Cozumel or Grand Cayman......when they talked about hurricanes and the devistation they caused in my older DDs class this year (freshman in H.S.) she WAS able to relate because of our Grand Cayman experience last year. Nobody else in her class had been in an area that was hit by a hurrican that soon after....she did a report with pics we took of the island and was the hit of the class.....yes, she had make up work to do after taking the 4 school days off but I say "I we can afford to do it and the girls are getting good grades, I'm going!" Same for work with me yes, I am given 3 weeks vacation but I NEVER take only 3. In this world of split families, two working parents and people not being able to afford vacations or not caring about taking their kids on vacations for their own personal reasons I think our kids will be better off for it.

Lampy,

I only get 2 weeks and I've been here almost 19 years! :confused3 Is your dealership hiring?

I do think vacations are important and I don't go by the school year since we are in a summer tourist area. Our summer business is what pays for the schools!

bfosbenner, same here.....on my end of the buisness ("special finance") our buisness is mid Feb. thru mid March. But I am a true believer that a "fresh" employee is a good employee......ever asked for a Saturday off and were told "no"....tell me you weren't usless that whole day because you didn't want to be there.........

willie/john:

send me your email addresses (icemanpad@aol.com) and i'll send you the ski pictures.

chuck

Lamps, your getting too serious on us with the vacation philosophy  , but I agree w/ you 100%. It really burns me when folks at work say, "I didn't use all my vacation this year because I'm too busy here." I ask, "do you decline your health insurance as well"? It's a benefit, used to spend with our youth and/or significant others to re-energize.

My kids have done projects with rocks, pictures, shells, sand... that we've brought back from different places. They don't know it, but it is quite an education. Not many kids from Iowa have seen poverty stricken places where chickens, goats and sheep roam the street!!! They even met Ron Bon Jovi!!! LOL St. Martin has probably been the biggest eye opener for them. They hate going downtown Phillipsberg. :)

Talking about visiting impoverished countries...I am going with a group from my church for a work/ministry project to south western Haiti April 28-May6. It will be my third trip. It really makes me thankfull even for the little things.

Any way...one last trip to the slopes with dd this weekend!

I agree with Lampy, We are always taking my Grandson out of school. He does go to a private school and is at the top of his class, but he still has to make up the work. His teachers all believe that the vacations are as much an education as him sitting in a classroom.

I guess he's lucky, that between his mom and us he gets to go all over. Last year he spent weeks in California on a "People-to-People" program.

As far as vacations. I basically get unlimited. I'm a salaried employee and work ALLOT of overtime which I take as comp time off, so I take as much time as I want.

Besides I run the business, so who's going to tell me no.

I do also believe Vacations are important as they relieve ones self, it's like getting a transfusion. Yea for the "SUN and FUN"

Ken :cheer2:

Sorry Doogie every once in a while my "alter ego" the responsible one comes out....LOL DD Jessica actually took French this year because of our trip to St. Maarteen on our 03 sailing. And as far as poverty stricken places.....Even been to the South side of Chicago? LOL Those housing projects in St. Thomas and GC have a lot of similatities to the "Cabrini Greens" of Chicago......And yes, Ron Bon Jovi and band don't make too many public appearences........ :rotfl2:

Hello all

Ice thanks for the PICS
DS and i went to the "local hill" this past wednesday night
this was our last officical ski/snowboard of the season
At least i feel more confident in myself to do the "real Slopes" next season

Vacation philosophy- i earned it myself...if the family wants to come along, great!LOL :earboy2:
However we give the school about a thirty day notice so that the kids can get some of the assignments completed before they leave and the rest when they get back....kind of like we adults do in real life, uh? But historically during school vacations, the summer is "my work season"

John :earboy2:
