Meetups: Thank you for the meetups DoubleTrouble!
MEETUPS:

Meetups are a fun way to get the cruise started and a great opportunity to put faces to the disnames, meet some new friends/drinking buddies, and exchange ideas about everything from dining to excursions to whatever. We've done several of these in the past, as have many others, but we are always looking for suggestions and/or new ideas so feel free to speak up. Attendance at meetups is your option (although see note about FE and cabin changes)...it's your vacation after all, but I think you'll enjoy them. Here is a draft to get us started...

DLR/Hotel Pre-meets: Three of the more popular places to stay pre-cruise are Disneyland Resort (DLR), the DoubleTree (San Pedro), and the Crowne Plaza (San Pedro). If you are staying at any of these (or any other hotel) on Saturday or earlier) and would like to get together to hit the park, have a drink, or just a quick meet, just post it (or send me a PM if you prefer) and I'll track it here in this post. Once we get close to the date, those staying at the same hotel/area can coordinate via PM to meetup as desired.

DLR:
DoubleTree:
Crowne Plaza:
Other:

Cruise Terminal Prior to Boarding: Meet by the largest TV display where Disney movies/shows are playing. It's obvious...once you're through security, just go straight ahead past the restrooms towards the far wall and look on your right. There's plenty of seating, and TV for the kids while we wait for kids registration to open, Mickey's arrival for photos, and boarding to begin. I'll post a DIS sign as well to help you find us, or we can coordinate a color to look for. You'd be surprised...it's actually pretty easy to figure out who's in our group jsut from what you learn online. We are usually very early arrivers at the terminal so just look for us. I'll be looking chilled, but anxious to board, while my twin DDs will be running around to meet all their new friends and get the social activities going. This (and the onboard meet) is a great opportunity for the kids to premeet some friends and get over their shyness before hitting the Stack/Edge/Lab/Club/etc.

Onboard After Boarding: 3:00pm in the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3, Port Side. I'll have a sign there as well. If you are in the FE and have any cabin changes (port upgrade, Pixie Dust, etc), PLEASE make sure someone is there from your group so we can all update our FE delivery spreadsheets. For the newbies, lunch is available until 2:30, cabins open at 2:00 (although bags may not arrive until around 5:00), and meeting from 3 to 3:30 or so allows plenty of time to get to the lifeboat drill afterwards; and, then it's sailaway party time! We'll take a few minutes to introduce our familes, coordinate any similar interests (like running/walking/exercising, excursions, beverage tastings, sports, games, etc), and field any questions anyone may have about anything at all. After that, you'll be running into your new disfriends everywhere! We've made some amazing friend through DIS, so don't be shy.

Some tentative additional meetups to consider...

Monday (Sea Day) - Adults: TBD in the Outlook Cafe, Deck 10 just aft of the adult pool area, off the midship elevators. It's right above the Cove Cafe (Deck 9) so make sure you come upstairs to the right place. Bring your own beverage, or you can get one there as desired. It's a nice place to just hang out. Check it out on the DCL site.

Tuesday (Sea Day) - Everyone: TBD on the "secret verandah" (more on that later). We typically hang out here for cocktails every evening around 5:00 before early dining. We generally bring our own "spirits", or you can get them onboard.

Tastings - Adults (Individuals/Small Groups): As desired. I will bring a Guest Services projected schedule of tasting opportunities to the meetups so we can arrange some mini-groups as desired. These are held 3-4 times a day when the ship is at sea, and the final times/beverages are posted in the daily Navigators. You sign up individually at Guest Services, $15-20 per person...very educational and lots of fun to boot!

Please, if you have any inputs, suggestions, whatever....let me know. This is all for fun, and very flexible.

If you have any particular interest, please post it on this thread ahead of time so you can possibly find others to enjoy it with.

Yea! Welcome aboard! I'm glad we changed our cruises. It was fun cruising with you two before. Did you get that cabin number changed?

Awesome!!!! This will be my first cruise over Thanksgiving. I wonder what they will offer for dinner that day. Now, I'll just need to remember not to book Palo that night :rotfl:

Linda

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :cool1:

Have a great cruise!

Yes..got the cabin # changed..now just 2 doors away?? can't remember :lmao:

I hope they have the traditional turkey day foods....I really love me some turkey, tadder's, gravy, corn, bread and punkin pie. Anything else is a bonus!

I'm going to look at excursions this time - I think I want to do a little exploring and tequilla shopping :lovestruc  (that's me and tequilla)

We had a lot of fun too cruising with you guys. I hope I can get Sara into the club a little more. And I'm loving LOVING the idea of 3 sea days. Seems like when you get off the boat, the day is sooo short. Looking forward to doing after dinner fun stuff too instead of heading to bed..LOL

:rolleyes1 Adnil510...maybe it's just us on the cruise. You can have the Roy again and I'll take the Walt suite.

Nah, my turn for the Walt...you can have the Roy this time.

It certainly looks to be a less than full boat though.

Hi All, I certainly have to agree with you about it not being a full boat. I booked this cruise like 3 months ago and was able to obtain an 11C. I'm Sarah and I'll either be cruising with my boyfriend or sister. I'm still pretty surprised that it isnt more full since it is a major holiday, oh well more space for us.

This will be my 6th DCL cruise and I can't wait to enjoy my first time in gold status.

Welcome Sarah! This will be my 2nd DCL cruise and I can't wait to enjoy my first time in silver status...:lmao: Actually, I was jealous of my sister and her family for getting their silver lanyards and the gifts in their cabin (although they very generously shared with me - I was always conscience that I was a Silver imposter...but no more!)

Hi Sarah! Glad we joined you on the ship! No kidding on the Cat 11. Watch the pricing on that. I was able to get an 11A for less than an 11C. If you like where you are at fine but if not you might be able to switch over if you wanted to be somewhere else. We've got 2 cabins pretty much across the hall from the secret verhanda on deck 7. A quick check right now still shows 11A as the cheapest category.

I am very surprised that this boat isn't fuller. That may be a good thing. Suz is talking about Roy and Walt Suites because on our 2nd cruise we upgraded to the Roy Suite at port! She would like a little :wizard: I always ask and that is the only time that there have ever been any upgrades at port when we have sailed.

We are doing the Mexican Riviera over spring break and that will be our first time as Gold. I'll report back on that.

I was always conscience that I was a Silver imposter...but no more!)

Took you awhile to figure out why all the CM's keep saying "Welcome Back" didn't it! :rotfl2: Now you will have your own lanyard, key chain, duffle bag, sports bottle, sandal shaped rice crispie treats...and a silver room key.

Linda

hello all!

Glad to see that there is finally a thread going since I booked back in September 2011. This was the only one without one. Anyhow, I am so excited :cheer2: to be going on my 2nd DCL cruise in two years. Last year we took the Inaugural Cruise on the Dream and it made me decide to never want to cruise with another cruise line again. Hope this ship fills up so we can all have a great time meeting exciting new people. I am traveling with my husband and my six yr old son, Dylan pirate:

WDW -October 2009 & June 2011
DCL - Dream - June 2011
DCL - Wonder - November 2012

Hi All - Add us to the Turkey day cruise list. It's me, DH and DD (9 at cruise time). We did a 3 night Dream cruise last December and I hooked the family, but coming from CA the travel stunk so we decided to do a longer and closer cruise this time around. Looking forward to the sea days and the tequila tasting too :)

Glad to see that someone else has joined. It was hard to find the thread at first because it has November 18, 2011 - hopefully it will be fixed soon and we will have more followers.

:cheer2: Yay! Another has joined this very small group. Welcome!

Welcome to all the new cruisers! We're gonna have to start a roll call so we can keep everyone's name straight :lmao: FE list... Cruise meets... boy oh boy! Lots of planning to do.

Just so you know, I'm leaving on a MR on April 1. This will be our first MR. If you have any preliminary questions or things you want me to check out, let me know and I'll make a list and get back to you when we return. I'm in full planning mode since 3 weeks from right now, I will be on the Wonder.

Had anyone taken a cruise over Thanksgiving on Disney before? I wonder what if they just add Turkey to the menu or what. :confused3 Hmmm. Not that it matters, I'm still going to go.

Looking forward to chatting.

Linda

Hey! Welcome Aboard! And thanks for finding us and pointing out the error. I've posted a message over there for this to be fixed and I'll get a message when it is fixed :) Even though it is listed under the 2012 cruise meets, it still should say 2012 and not 2011.

Thanks! I love how you have your FE list set up. I was wondering how that worked - now I have lots of time to decide what I am going to do. Looking forward to sharing turkey day with a disney family.:yay:
