November 15, 2008 7 night Western 11/15/08 11-15-08

Hi everyone - this will be our 4th Disney cruise and I'm starting to get so excited for it. It is myself (42), DH (41), DS (10 1/2) and DD (8). We have always cruised with family friends - same family size and ages but they have an older daughter and younger son. In previous years, our older kids used to hang together but now the two girls hang together even though they are 2 1/2 years apart - on the last cruise they really enjoyed going down to the dining room for lunch on their own - it made them feel so grown-up. My son tends to hang out solo until he make some friends his own age in the pools or playing ping-pong. On our last cruise we laughed because two girls he had made friends with showed up at our stateroom at 11 pm on the last night of the cruise wanting to say goodbye and take a picture with him (he however was fast asleep).

The cruising has now grown to include our friend's brother, his wife, son (2 1/2 years I think) and mother-in-law. We have previously done the Land/Sea package (Nov 2004), the 7 night Eastern (Apr 2006 and Nov 2007) and are now trying out the 7 night Western. Our first two cruises were in one of the secret porthole rooms (when I booked it the first time, I thought we might have a window based upon the deck plan but wasn't sure so we made a point of booking the same room the second time). But for this and the last cruise we decided to go the verandah route and will be up on Deck 6.

We are looking forward to trying out a new set of ports and have booked the Royal Dolphin Swim encounter at Cozumel which sounds like it will be fantastic. OTher than that, I doubt we'll do any planned excursions at the other ports.

Hi Kristin, welcome to the gang. We are also in a Verandah on deck 6. See you on board!

Hello all. I'm new here and I will be on this magical cruise with you all. Just want to introduce myself. We are a family of 4. Myself, DH, DS-10 and DS-6. We are a pretty laid back family and just enjoy cruising. We booked our flight on AirTran a few weeks ago so i'm totally excited that search is over with. Now if only they will keep us on the schedule they have us on I would be totally grateful. I'm sure I'll have questions every so often and I'm sure you great group of people will be willing to answer. Almost at the 4 month countdown!!!!
Welcome to the party!!

I am back from Vegas and heading back to the lake now! I had fun!

Time until cruise is staring to move more like a freight train than a steam engine! Soon we'll be at bullet train speed!

My son's name is Bennett.

I will check in next week!

OK I saw Alice and Davin yesterday, you can add
Rhiannon (10) and Patti (8) to the list for the fish extenders!

Thanks so much, will be in touch with you with room numbers!

Welcome to all the newcomers. This is a fun little group. Summer is keeping us busy but my mind is still on the cruise. I have 90% of our door magnets done. Now I just need to figure out how best to sew an extender. Still have t-shirts to make. The design is done just need to figure out the printing and ironing on etc.:woohoo:

Our family will be on the Nov 15th cruise.:yay: What more could a mom ask for than to have her first Disney Cruise leave on her birthday and have it given to her family by her wonderful sister-in-law and her hubby :cheer2: We have 2 cabins resrved as my DH's sister and brother-in-law are traveling with us. Also traveling with us will be our DS 10 :wizard: , DS 9  , and DS 6 :scared1: . We are all excited and like so many others. I surf the net all the time looking for hints or something I haven't found out yet. My husband calls it anal, but I like to say being prepared. :flower3: We have made many trips to Disney World, but this is the first time cruising.:cool2: I have just read the boards and would love to be involved with the fish extenders if it is not too late. Please let me know.

Sharon

Welcome Sharon. It is definitely not too late to join the Fish Extender swap. We have 10 families total now including yours. Let us know if you have any questions.

Since I have just recently joined these board, could you catch me up on what exactly we will be doing. I know I read about just kids, then adults, just one day, or something all week. Reading through so many posts kind of gets confusing, so if you could give me the info in one shot it would be great, since I am not at all familiar with the fish extenders, but what I read sounded like fun. Also, what kind of items should I look for? Since it is our first cruise, we look forward to all the help we can get!!!

Thanks,
Sharon

Welcome to all the new people!

I am not so sure we've decided on exactly what we are doing as far as the fish extenders go. I imagine we'll get that all sorted out once everyone's back into the routine of Fall. To get you started (although I am no expert and a first time Disney Cruiser myself...) the gifts for the extenders are little things like, stickers, tatoos, bubbles. I am going for small and easy to pack what with the new luggage regulations popping up like daisies!

Many of us have also ordered those little rubber bracelets off Ebay. We choose lime green and they are engraved (I'd have to look back in the posts and see what the link is and what we decided on for engraving). The purpose of these is so that we can pick all the people we've been posting with out of the crowd.

I am sure this is all clear as mud but stick around and I'm sure you'll get clear on everything!!!!

I did try to look on ebay for the bracelets when I reading through all your old posts, and the number is no longer good that was associated with the bracelets you guys had purchased. If anyone has any other contact info for whoever did the original bracelets, I'd love to order some for my family

WOW, how awesome to see the group growing still! 3.5 months and counting! What about Shore Excursions? Is anyone keeping count of the numbers? We do have a group booking for the Dolphin Royal Swim and we can add 4 more, it's a nice discount if anyone is interested.

We are booking a Wild Dolphin Encounter and Snorkel out of Key West, has anyone done that one before? It's on a Catamaran and then you snorkel at a shipwreck.

And one last question, for those of you who have been on a Western Caribbean adventure before, if you had to pick stingrays at Grand Cayman or Stingrays at Castaway Cay, which would you pick?

See you all real soon!

Do you have the order info on what style print and what you ended up printing on the bracelets? I can check with the seller and see if she still has the info.
Thanks,

Welcome Kristin & Sharon!!!

We've been so busy this Summer... it seems I'm again very behind on reading and responding to posts here. So sorry!

About the Fish Extenders ~
Shall we go ahead and assign delivery days for the Fish Extenders? It seems that's what the majority wants. I heard from Lin via PM and she has a preferred day for her deliveries. If anyone else has a preferred day, please post here (or PM me) and I'll be happy to get a schedule together that will accomodate everyone. :)

Sharon, I'll add your family to the Fish Extender list on page 32, post #474. Thanks for joining our exchange!

:goofy: 113 days! :donald:

Here are the choices of bracelets from the woman on Ebay. Linda emailed them to me.

I like any of the first 3 style Mickey Heads.

Those of us who ordered the bracelets ordered the 3rd version down from the top. I would ask the seller on Ebay if she remembers it if she can go back in her records. she might remember.
Good luck.
We ordered the Lime Green color.
