November 13, 2011 Mexico on the Wonder

The only time I've used a car seat that wasn't my own was when we rented a car in FL. I didn't like it and ever since we've traveled with our own seats, but this time we aren't even renting a car so I was hoping to not have the seats (but I will if I need to). I just figure we are really careful with our kids and making sure they are properly buckled at home, so we should be the same while traveling and there is no way I'd take them in a cab without a seat. I posted on the DL board in hopes that someone more familiar with the area may have some insight.

Is anyone else bringing a princess dress on the cruise for Formal night?

Ooh, I didn't know the girls could dress up in princess dresses for formal night! I just took my 2 DDs to a halloween celebration this past weekend. One was Snow White, the other was Belle. I'll definitely bring their costumes on the ship for formal night. Thanks!

Yep, it was an extra excuse to buy a couple of costumes. I love seeing the little girls dressed up on the ship. I remember on our first cruise I saw a little boy in a Captain Hook costume minus the hook and hat (you know, the long coat and the ruffled shirt) and it was so cute!

15 Days! :yay: Haven't even started laying out clothes or ideas of what to pack. :scared1:

But I am SO ready for a vacation

Yep getting close & getting excited....but haven't started packing yet. It'll be here soon!

Ugh! I don't want to think about the packing, but I'm so excited to go! Once Halloween is over with the trip will be here before we know it.

I'm sure we have some Disney themed costumes this year, what are your kids going to be? DD is going to be Snow White and DS is going to be a dwarf.

DD9 is going as a "flapper" using her dance costume from last year.

2 weeks and we'll be on the ship!

Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.

Gotta get through Halloween, kids (4 year old twins) birthday party (Saturday), and then we can start thinking about the cruise.

Two weeks we'll all be on the ship enjoying a sea day.

I can relate to that! We just did DD's 4th birthday and survived our first ever friend party (4 year old's are pretty entertaining, but 7 of them keeps you BUSY). I can really get thinking about the cruise after Halloween tonight. Happy Birthday to your twins!

Thanks!
This age can be entertaining (and exhausting).

Looking SO forward to this trip....we haven't really kept it a secret, but the kids don't really understand what a cruise is. They'll figure it out soon enough.

My daughter just started wearing princess outfits last week (she wasn't really that interested before) whew, timing couldn't be better.

as i start to think about packing, i'm wondering how 'formal' formal night really is. i'm thinking simple black dress for me, but what about DH? tux, suit, coat, tie???

Nami - Some people go all out and have Tux and long formal gowns.. But the majority you will see is a nice black or party dress (may or may not be long) and suits. DH will be in a dark suit jacket and his kacki Slacks. Go with what you are comfortable with.

It seems like over the years formal night has gotten a lot less formal--especially on Disney. I wonder if some of it has to do with airlines and luggage restrictions. We try to pack pretty light, especially compared to our first cruise in 2004. I think we take less now despite the fact that we are a family of 4 instead of just the two of us!

I sometimes wear a black cocktail-type dress. With a baby I'm skipping the formal dry-clean only part and I'm just taking a skirt and black shirt. If you're doing Palo, at least you can use your formal stuff again. I really try to pack things that can be used more than once. DH usually brings a suit jacket, but he might just wear a dark shirt and a tie this time. On our first few cruises, I took a different outfit for dinner every night, I've since learned to take a few skirts and then just wear different shirts with them.

We will be packing a princess dress for DD to wear on formal night though.

Oh my goodness! I'm a bundle of nerves, with a bit of jealousy to boot!

This morning, over breakfast, my mother just booked this cruise for her, my father and my son, William (4). Sadly, I'm not going along :( This will be my parent's second Disney Cruise (they did a European cruise a couple of years ago) and my son's second Disney cruise (DH and I took a Caribbean cruise when he was 2).

This will also be the longest I've ever been away from my special little guy, but I couldn't deny him a week on "The Mickey Boat". We have a photo book from our previous cruise that he looks at all the time, and talks about it often.

I'm off to start reading this thread at the beginning and start researching where they should stay the night before (If anyone has a link to info regarding this, it would be awesome) and what airport transportation options will be right for them.

How fun for your son, too bad you can't come along. I'm sure he will have a great time. What a wonderful opportunity you are giving both him and your parents to be able to spend a fun week together. There are a lot of other 4 year olds cruising with us (with your son there are 4 boys who are 4 and 4 girls who are 4 , so maybe tell your parents about our little cruise meet on the first day (Promenade Lounge, 3pm) so he can get to know some of the others.

What airport are they flying in and out of?

Wow, that is a lot of 4 year olds...my 4 year old twins will be in heaven!
