November 13, 2011 Mexico on the Wonder

Does anybody know how full the ship is? :surfweb:
Or how to find out?
I just hope it's not completely full like our last cruise. :scared1:

Last time I looked at prices our cruise was more expensive than the surrounding cruises, so I'm guessing it is more on the full side.

The name sounds great!

Question...firstly I am not a crafty person so my gifts won't be homemade :( so im trying to buy things here and there that can be for boys or girls but when the list comes out will it have ages for the kids involved so I can make sure the gifts are age appropriate and do we get gifts for the adults too or just the kids?

The FE list will have the following:
DIS names of those who signed up
Stateroom numbers
Names
Ages (of the kids)
Gender

That is the info that I'll email to everyone a month prior to sailing (so that is the info I need to have from everyone a month prior to sailing). I will also need your email address where I can send the document. As far as who to do gifts for, you can do whatever you'd like. You can do one per stateroom or one per person, something for kids to share and something for the adults to share, something just for the kids (but if there are only adults in the room please make sure to do a gift for that room). You can do the same thing for every stateroom or customize based on ages. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Got my dates wrong..again. We are flying out of Bellingham super early on the Sunday 13th, arrival in LAX at 9:40am. Maybe we'll get to see some of you on the DCL bus to the port???
hehe... I guess I meant in LA? Where you will be staying, since the ship doesn't leave until the 13th. :rotfl:

We will be at the Doubletree at the port.

I am guessing it isn't that full compared to some of the holiday cruises, since they are offering last minute restricted fare pricing and they have 11C. Our last 2 cruises we have booked 11C (at great price) and then were pixie dusted to Cat 10A (SPH) or cat 9.

FYI.. just in case anyone is interested there are 2 SPH rooms available on this cruise 5022 and 5020 (2 adults at 2363) vs a cat9A (2 adults at $2643).

Since the SPH are not snatched up.. I suspect the cruise is not that booked.

Thank-you for posing this.

Don't forget we were planning a DIS meet in the promonade Lounge (yes kids are welcome) on Deck 3 at 3pm on embarkment day!

What is a SPH room?

What is a SPH room?

Secret Porthole room. There are 6 rooms on the ship. They were previously catagory 8 (or 9A) on Deck 5, but they have a obstruction in front of the window, so they go classified to a cat 10A. Previously would be able to get these for a good savings over a cat 9.

You are in a quiet hallway on the ship. We got one for this sailing and had one our last cruise. Let me try to post a picture of what the obstruction looked like.

I am getting so excited!! I just ordered a custom FE off of ebay. :)

Excited to get to work once we get our list and figure out what goodies to bring! I know my 5 year old is going to have such a blast with this!!

Liz - I am getting exited too. MIL has already started packing. It is still hot here so really can't pull together cruise clothes yet. Need to get started working on the FE gifts.

Could someone please answer this question for me? Thank-you :confused3
When you go on a port excursion like catamaran snorkling- What do you do with your personal belonings? Do they have small lockers?
What about the beach adventure in PV?

I phoned dcl today to change our stateroom and the cm said the ship is almost full with only 12 staterooms left  We were hoping for a low
passenger count.
Thank-you

From our past experience, the "lockers" some of the excursions claim to have turn out to just be a bench or a rubbermaid type tote to place items in. My suggestion is to only take what you must have with you. If you're doing a water excursion, put your money and ID in a waterproof pouch of some sort. We'll just wear our beach stuff and take a diaper bag with the necessities.

Thanks Shauna,

I know dcl says to leave your passport on the ship but i don't really feel comfortable being in a different country without it! I'm a little uptight that way.:snooty:
If only we could have 2 passports. :wizard:

I leave mine on the ship. I take a photocopy off the ship (that way I at least have the number and such in case I needed it for something). I also scanned a copy and have it saved in my email.

Shauna.. that is what I do as well. I agree with you too.. I only take as little as possible with me on excursions. I take some $1 bills along to tip with and keep those handy.

Just got our cabin assignment!!!!!! Soooo excited!!!!!

Yeah! :cool1: Always exciting to get an assignment.

Hmm.. Maybe it depends on how many people you have or what type of cabin you want, because when I checked 10A and above there area definitely more than 12 Staterooms open. Now the Verandah categories seem to be full, but that is probably because they offered KSF (kids Sale Free) for families in Verandah rooms. Now when I checked I was checking for 2 Adults. I was seeing about 8 staterooms in each category. Now because there is KSF offered on this cruise, might mean there will be more kids than normal on the cruise.

Believe me DCL will try to fill every cabin, by offering discounted rates, etc... It might not be a "Full ship" because there might be 2 people in many staterooms instead of 3 to 4 that a stateroom can hold.

I also heard that DCL may offer rooms for sale in all of the categories to see what they can sell. Maybe there are only 12 rooms left, but if they can only sell them as 10A they'll do that and then upgrade some people. Of course they'd rather sell the higher categories but they want to sell them one way or another. I'm thinking this must be a pretty full cruise due to the pricing that I saw last time I checked (but it has been a while). Oh well, the only thing that really matters is that we are all on the ship :)

Dawn & Nat--I need more info from you for the FE's. Come say hello and get your post count up so you can pm me the info! We cruise in about 1-1/2 months!

Great idea to scan your passport...we're definitely going to do that! Also, FYI...the dolphin adventures in Cabo had lockers, but I'm not sure about the PV beach adventure...
