November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Hey Guys,

Tell us something about yourself that we haven't learned from the boards,,,,,,,We know Houseforsale is in real estate (duh) and is related to Choc_Marg and that scary guy AWOL, Barkley & her DH are the most hilarious couple bantering back and forth, JayPD is our hero, Dis_Nurse is the most excellent premie nurse, (even so much as to be promoted to supervisor!!)
PrincessHaleysMom will probably be the youngest mom in the group,,,,,I could go on about each of you that have popped your heads out and spoke on the board,,,but what's something we haven't learned about YOU GUYS yet???? oh, and where's FavoriteAuntie?????????????

OK, I'll start; I'm fluent in sign language. I have never taken a sign language class in my life, nor has my sister, but we are both nationally certified interpreters. Our mother took a sign class at church about 30 years ago and it allllll snowballed from there.....My sister & I grew up around deaf people due to our mother's volunteering efforts in the deaf community. She even founded the deaf center in Pensacola 20 years ago.

Soooooooo let's hear it,,,,tell us something about yourself!!!!

What can I tell you about us? After reading about so many of you who have such noble careers, I feel a little inadequate (but like PrincessHaleysMom, I will feel extremely safe on our cruise)!! princess: I work for a major brokerage firm (have been in this line of business since I was 19 years old!). I have my securities license, but do not solicit business...I would classify myself as a customer service rep basically. Stupidly, I did not go to college, but even so, I am blessed with a great job and a fun office to work in! :groom: My DH is an environmental engineer for the State of Illinois. :wizard: DS Gavin is a 4th grader that loves magic and music and :jester: DS Eric is a 1st grader and loves puppies (but we don't have one yet) and loves to tease, but is very quiet until he gets to know you!

Now about all the wine parties you guys are having....we don't know much about wine (I won't even try recipes that call for dry red wine just because I don't have a clue what that means!!!)...so, can we bring a beer and hang out?! If we have to bring wine, we will, but if my dh picks it out, you will probably end up with some exotic flavor of Boone's Farm! :drinking1 yummy!

Here's a little more about me:
I'm 24 and have a degree in theatre from the University of TN. I moved to FL after graduating 2 years ago to work at WDW. I did the Disney college program 4 years ago in merchandise and was eager to get a job in Disney entertainment once I finished school. During my time on the college program, I became quite well known on the DIS community board for the journals I posted.

I love musical theatre, and I've taken voice lessons on and off since age 10 as well as performed in a handful of non-professional shows. (I love to sing for people and will take requests if anyone happens to ask! :) )

I've been a known Disney fanatic since middle school. My long standing favorites are Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin. If you do a search online for "The Ghost of Gaston," you'll find a fanfiction I wrote, although I never finished it.

Other favorite things include 80s toys and cartoons and the American Girls collection (combining 2 things I love- dolls and history.)

:Pinkbounc Bring beer, bring beer! Bring whatever spirits you want! You don't even have share! It's all a just a very informal meeting and we don't even have the date nor time nailed down yet. Or just bring some good chocolate! No fuss, no muss. :grouphug:

But remember, to spare barkley any more odds and ends of unresolved business, she and DH leave (I think) Nov. 4th.....so lets make a plan!
BTW, my DH will probably just show up with some mixed drink he made from the free drink station and some whiskey. :teeth:

And where the heck are Choc_marg and awoltoday? I know......really busy putting the finishing touches on his scary self....ready to scare the pants off the cute little trick or treaters come Monday night!

Until later.......enjoy the extra hour of sleep everyone! :cloud9:
Or should I say, to those of you in the country who celebrate such a thing depending on your time zone?

I don't know where to start....I was not able to check-in on the boards for the last week and "oh my" is all I can say. :confused3 You all have been busy :rotfl2: I can't believe all of the posts. It has taken me two days to get through them all.

I don't want to start the fire again but I must say that Laura was way out of line and mis-reading what the Dis Nurse put in (I did not see anything written about Dis Nurse having to look over her shoulder). Dis Nurse we are so glad that you are so dedicated to those little bitties. You go girl. I too nearly spit out my coffee at PrincessHaileysMom's comments. Great! I wonder if she secretly is going to be on the sail??? Okay enough of that on to happier things.

A little bit about Bob and I. I work in human resources for a credit union and Bob is a computer techie. We have two girls that are princesses through and through. Bob loves to golf. He also likes to see how many golf balls can land in the woods :confused3 I am just learning to golf and so I walk a lot as it is closer for me to walk to the ball then to the golf cart.

My secret: I can not make brownies to save my life. Never get them cooked right :confused3

Bob's Dad is a retired Police Officer and his Mom is a retired X-ray tech. My family has all been at sometime involved in volunteer firefighting. Our hats are off to you and hearts are with all of you that make service a part of your profession (life). I am so thankful for the group that is going I can't wait to meet all of you.

Hello to all of the New Folks. We are going to have so much fun. I will check-in more often this week.

Yes! JayPD,,,I would love to corner you for some stories. WOW! I'm glad you and your family are safe. I bet living through that in such close proximity makes you treasure life so much more. I can see where the vow renewal could carry even more weight now too.

For the popcorn link,http://www.daleandthomaspopcorn.com/ yu can get free popcorn but you pay for shipping. It is very good. I think I can say that my job is trouble maker. No I work for the Chicago Transit Authority as a bus operator. It is a job that is well a job, tomorrow we must dodge eggs all day long. The bus door comes open and eggs starts flying. My wife is a med tech for the Universtiy of Chicago Hospital. :flower:

OK - all experienced parents and medical personnel (sp),,,I need advice. My DS - who turned 4 last week, fell off his scooter and his front tooth is loose. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there any way we can prevent it from falling out??????????????? DH thinks he heard somewhere if the root doesn't break off inside then maybe the gum will grow back around it?????????? I also think he may be saying that just to make me feel better....I know it will 2 years down the road before it will grow back if it falls out!!! AAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!

I, too am a nurse. Iam the Director of Nursing for 2 assisted livings. Before I went into long term care I was a nurse on a pediatric surgical trauma floor at Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital. My husband is a Global Network Engineer for a large company. We have gotten to travel to Hong Kong benefits of his job. All my sons are avid sports players. Our entire family is nuts about baseball. We travel quite frequently and are Disney Fanatics. Thia year will mark my fourteenth trip. Travelling with our group is yet another nurse. My mom is a psych nurse. Enough about us, I love reading what all have posted about themselves. It makes me even more excited to meet you all.

stb-i think a call to the dentist is in order. they may want to xray to see whats up with the roots, and the last thing you want is a dental emergency out of the country ("anesthisia? we just give the boy a shot of local made rum :rotfl2: ".) seriously, our ds knocked a couple of his loose but the dentist had us come in to make sure that it would come out in one peice (he xrayed to make sure there was no fracturing above the gum line).

i realised in reading i had'nt posted anything about our kids. dd is an avid artist who enjoys hand drawing cartoon characters from pictures in magazines and off the internet, and she finaly convinced me after years of begging to do her first community theatre production last christmas (i blame myself-she had seen my old scrapbooks for years and had seen me in 3 musicals over the last few years). ds is an avid yu-gi-oh fan and his little schools resident "heart breaker" (he always has a small herd of little girls following him around-one has been pursuing him for 4 years and has started calling me "mom" ).

Yes, a dental visit is a must I think to make sure all is well. Just be prepared to have he/she tell you the tooth most likely will die and discolor over time. My almost 6 yo has had a "dead" tooth in the front for almost 2 years! It is slightly discolored, no big deal, and won't fall out! I wish it would....he's old enough now. Good luck!

Has anyone ever switched airline tickets that were non-refundable? I just can't see us going to our AI resort in March (south of Cancun) now that I have seen pictures of the damage on line last night. We are thinking Hawaii instead.....or even to be more realistic, go ahead and get our flights for our next Nov. 12, 2006 DOUBLE DIP DCL cruise. Any suggestions before i call the airline (Delta)? :confused3

DH and I are both baby boomers and eligible for AARP. Enough said about age. We have 2 DD's, 19 and 16, who will not be accompanying us on our cruise. This is just for US to celebrate our anniversary.

Both born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. We have lived on Long Island and now here in STL for almost 20 years. DH worked for TWA for 25+ years. We both now work for a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), in different departments.

DH is an avid Cubs fan, and my hobby is scrapbooking. We love everything Disney and have been traveling to WDW every year since 1981. We are also DVC members.

This will be our 3rd Disney cruise and we are looking forward to a week of rest and relaxation. Do you remember the DCL commercial about the guy who was always sleeping somewhere, either on the ship, or on Castaway Cay? That will be us.

Looking forward to meeting up with fellow Dis'ers.

You can switch them for a fee of course! Last time we did it was $100 per ticket. You'll have to call Delta though - seems they are always changing the rules!

Geez, STB!....I see you on all sorts of threads this morning! You are fast! :moped:
Two things we should share with the group....the new boarding process is a bummer! At least it sounds really unfair to those of us who want to get there early to board early. No more are you guarenteed that.....and sounds like you could be in the terminal for hours waiting if you are so unlucky as to get a 4 or 5 card.....last to be called to board! :guilty:

Don't know what I will do now....my kids will be so antsy!
Antsy in their pantsy!

The other great tip STB and I just picked up on is bringing along the in the closest shoe holders that hang down....usually made of a canvas-like material.....for added space saving and organization. I own two of those in the kids' cloests....am going upstairs right this moment to pack them. :wave2:
And I didn't even have to go back to my favorite store ONE MORE TIME! :teeth:

This is the first I've heard about the new boarding process....are you saying it doesn't matter how early we get to the port? Please explain!!!

I don't think the new boarding process will be a big deal. Other cruise lines do it that way and it is just fine. No one really ends up waiting any longer really. On our last Disney cruise we stood in a tight little line for an hour after checking in to board. It was really annoying in my opinion to have to stand there - no where to sit - on top of one another. So now you can sit and relax and wait till they call your #. No worries - you'll be on board soon enough with a cool drink in your hand! :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Disnurse - please don't edit any more of your posts ok??????? :rotfl:

I know we have a list of early/late diners...as a first timer, I jumped on the early dining list because of the ages of my DS's (9&7)...but as I read more, I'm wondering if late would be better? Sorry if you've already had this discussion, but I am wondering if I should switch? And is it a big deal to switch if you want to? Please share your thoughts! Thanks!
