AngieBelle....what a fun job! We're on Deck 7 also...but at the opposite end of the ship! How long have you worked at WDW?

I did the college program 4 years ago. I went back to school afterwards, graduated 2 years ago, and moved to FL permanently. :) I've been fulltime at WDW for 2 years and in entertainment for a little over a year and a half.

Sorry, 4formickey...I don't recall meeting a Ruby- but I'm very bad with names! Chris could possibly know her.

I plan to put something DIS related on our door if anyone happens to walk by it. We ended up with a wheelchair accessible room even though we don't need one. hehe. Perhaps that means it'll be nice and big! (For a catagory 11 anyway.)

o.k.-gotta post this to give everyone a laugh! walked by spencer's (8 yrs. old) room a little bit ago. he is kicked back in his sponge bob briefs on his cushy spider man chair playing playstation. all of a sudden i realize he is singing. singing...."nobody knows the troubles i have seen, nobody knows the sorrows" :rotfl2:

That is hysterical! Thanks for the laugh Spencer!!!!! :rotfl:

these rooms are not bad-unless you mind sitting on the toilet to take a shower! we ended up in one on one cruise, thought the size was awsome but found out the entire bathroom is a shower (there are drain holes all over the floor to prevent the cabin from flooding). we ended up using the spa shower for the trip (and i'm a tub person :guilty: ).

if you have a real desire to have a tub or the split bathroom set up i would call now to see if you can be reassigned.

where is everyone? Well....you have to remember that DIS NURSE actually DOES have a job! Was taking care of premies today.....but in between tube feeding expressed breast milk and changing diapers, reading the DIS boards! :cool1: Am getting so excited about the trip!
No seriously....like those of you who have recently joined our thread and who are about to cruise DCL for the first time, I have learned SOOOOOOO :teeth: much from these threads! I have been all over the place (on the DIS boards) and learned more by SNOOPING onto what I thought could teach me something than any Disney person would ever let me know!

Doing WDW last year.....all four parks and water parks was overwhelming! I went into the job well prepared and it was so great becoming familiar with the layout and what to expect before ever stepping foot on the property.

BTW......trying to decide on this one....if you and your kids (6 and 8) wanted to go miniture golfing at WDW after the cruise, would you pick Winter/Summerland or Fanatasia Gardens? :confused3 Any hints? I am pretty sure they will both be open the week of Thanksgiving.

Funny thing about my workplace (obviously, a hospital) the IS department has chosen to block some web pages from employees' access. One of them is the disneycruise web page.... :badpc: I am so bummed!

It is getting cold :cold: here in Central Oregon...our elevation 3,600 feet. I am really looking forward to bailing on these temps in less than 10 days and taking in every bit of warmth that the Caribbean will spare us! :sunny:

If and when I EVER tell my dear children that we are going on a Disney Cruise, I feel like telling them right off the bat that we are going to be amongst a person or two who actually are / assist with the characters! Angiebelle, I really want to hear more of your stories....am so enamoured with what you have to share! Are you aloud to share? Are there secrets you are told to NOT share? Just wondering. :goodvibes

Love the disboards, and not wanting or trying to flame, but I wanted to let the readers know that most of us OB/ newborn nurses are watching the monitors of your babies and doing treatments (especially in "busy Nicu's"). Sorry DISNURSE, but didn't want folks to get the wrong impression of the rest of us. I enjoy my disboards and a cup of coffee when I get home.

oh,,,I have formed an excellent impression of Dis_Nurse and I have never met her,,,only know her via these boards,,,,,I have NO DOUBT she takes her job very seriously. I would stake my son's life - if he was a newbie - in her hands anyday!!!

Good for you! Now run along before someone drops a house on you.

You know what? That was just stinky to post! DisNurse is just like the rest of us in that she is excited about a long planned, well thoughtout trip. I can only imagine how happy and cheeful DisNurse is after she has taken a moment to go online and how that happiness is transformed by her with her love and compassion towards those babies. DisNurse....don't let that comment bum you out after all the months of joy these boards have brought you! You are sunshine to a lot of us! :sunny:

The Dis Nurse has friends out here in cyberworld that will take up for her. After reading her post and her concern for kids, we do trust her and know that she will not put anyone's child in harms way. After planning this trip and keeping it from her kids this long, she is ready to brust and looking forward to all the people that will force her to work at walmart after this trip to pay for it. We can never say any thing bad about a woman that appeared on romper room on a regular bases. :sunny:

It is really sneaking up on us. I am a nurse as well as DIS NURSE and my husband is a firefighter ..This should be a very safe cruise... :firefight
Looking forward to the warm weather. :sunny: It is getting cold here as well on the east coast. :cold:
Hope to meet everyone there!!!! 13 days and counting :cool1:

OOOOoooooohhhhhh! :badpc:
That WAS really stinky! Thank you, gang :goodvibes I shouldn't have to justify my comment.....and I am an OVERLY attentive RN in our unit who happens to be in charge most of the time without a designated assignment. Even if I do have an assignment, we hardly ever get breaks (should have 15 minutes ( x2 spaced out)for every 12 hours, plus a whopping 1/2 hour for lunch. Ask me if we get them? NOPE....it's the #1 reason lots of nurses in our unit and other critical care area have left. BURN OUT! :guilty:
I chose to take my breaks anyway I want them.....sometimes not leaving the department to have a DIS break. My choice, not yours, so leave well enough alone.

I recall this same person flaming me before many months ago about the medical services onboard (an innocent question)....after a semi interesting story I shared about a man having a heart attack on our flight to Orlando last Fall. Go figure..... :confused3 :earseek:

Do people actually spend time on other people's cruise meet threads? Are they that bored? And then they have the nerve to be snippy? :guilty:

Did you not get the first part of my original post last night?....I was busy at work thus no one heard from me for 24 hours. Look around at any department in the hospital and see how many People magazines and the like sitting at the nurse's stations! Reading material everywhere! :wave2:

another firefighter here too (dh)! I use to be a 911 dispatcher, and never took my breaks! I got burned out! Take your breaks disnurse, and spend them with us!!

If it helps any, its cold in CA this morning! I had to find my slippers!! :goodvibes

The nurse has a stalker and it is not AWOL :rotfl2:   :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: That may be the last time she post on this thread. We got your back. :grouphug: :rolleyes1 :wave2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That chicks just jealous that any cruise she ever goes on will never be as fun as ours. :cloud9:
And as a mother of a 2 year old, if she was in the hospital, I would much rather her nurse take a 5 minute "happy" break than be worn out and grumpy.

I say don't feed into her.....She made her Dumb statement PrincessHaleysMom made her funny one(which almost made me spit coffee on screen) The more we feed into it the more the poster will look to start trouble. :)

Opps the Mod in me came out :)

Wow, I admire you all for your support of your friend, she's a lucky person and I appreciate your opinions and respect them. I expected a possible flame (I've never been involved in a confrontation on here, guess there's always a first time), but not the severe reaction I got from your group. Sorry if I offended anyone, but it was just a post that caught my eye. (We dis'sers all like to read things that we can relate to, right?) I know how busy we are and yes, we do get burnt out. I totally agree with her there. But, my concern was when she said she would shut it off if anyone came up behind her...you don't have to do that while on break. I agree (as one post said) that my break is my break and it should be used anyway I want to. That goes for any profession. I know we all agree on that also. But she made it sound like she was on-duty and I know that if a parent (who many feel vulnerable and scared when their child is unexpectedly sick or premature), could walk into the area and see the nurse taking care of their child, on the internet. I think that parent would not take that lightly, nor would management. (but this was how it was posted) She also mentioned that IS took the Disboards off the hospital system. Yes, I'd be bummed if I couldn't use it on my break. I'm not on the disboards to "stalk" or be a witch or out to get anyone. (I thought that was alittle rough, even for my Dis-family :confused3 ). I love the boards just like the rest of you and look forward to and plan those magical trips with my family also. Yes, I replied to one of her other threads a long time ago. She and I are both active on these boards and of course, we have the same interests. If we see something "medical", we'll read that thread and maybe post. If you go back and read it, she was worried about being the only one to help someone if an emergency occured. My post contained that there are many in the med profession vacationing onboard and there would be others to help (including trained CM's). Most of my cruisemeet thread were all nurses. Just an opinion, not a flame on your friend. But in the cyberworld, unfortunately, folks don't get to meet the true folks behind the (non-emotional) text. I don't know her personally,(and you don't know me) and it's easy to get defensive (as we've seen here on both sides), but I'm sure she's a great person, parent and gives great care to her patients. It's wonderful that's she's suprising her kids with the vacation. Also, I wasn't bored, I just read all the disboards like the rest of you. I really hope you all have a safe and magical trip and hope you never get flamed as bad as I did for only making a statement from what I read on the "original" post. Thank you for clarifying, disnurse, in your second post. Enjoy your cruise :flower:
Laura

I so agree jaypd! Let's move on and be :cool1: happy!

And besides, you are a police officer! :teeth: I love that we are amongst police and fire personnel! Feel so safe! ;)

And a thank you while I am at it for being one our DIS BOARD moderaters.
How much time do you have to spend doing such duties? What exactly is involved? Glad you make the time to do it, thanks. :flower:
