Hello !
We are a family of 4 going! yay!! My husband (26), me (25), my son (8), and my daughter (3). My sisters and their children will be going as well. One is 34 with a teenage girl (14), and a 7 year old boy. Also a 36 year old with two boys 11 and 4 years old. We are soooo excited! How fun are the programs for the kids ? This is our first cruise. We have no idea what to expect. Any tips on what to pack and what not to pack? And what activities are best at the islands?

Welcome Aboard - and if you care to share? There are lots of packing lists on the Cruise Line Threads. And you can search this one for our list of formal, pirates nights etc....

Missed something - one pack? for a family of 4? - You cannot possibly mean one suitcase????

One pack of ?????????

one suitcase-dh wishes :rotfl2: no, travel documents. disney used to send out the thick ticket packet for everyone in the group, hal did the same thing to us last year. i liked getting one packet for the entire group (it will fit into my travel wallet with the passports just fine).

i confess-i am trying to minimize on packing as much as possible. i sat down the other night and was trying to figure out a 3 day clothing allotment for everyone (we can use the washer/dryer in the room at wdw and it would make for only one day of laundry to do on board). will i succeed? probably not :teeth:

i saw a show on the travel channel once-it showed high end hotels that you could call ahead with your clothing sizes and tastes that would have everything you needed awaiting your arrival. that would be a luxury vacation-walk on board the ship with no luggage, just have them pack it up and send it to you at home

I just printed this packing list.

"Calgon, a cruise addict has created a series of wonderful cruise packing lists that contain everything that you could possibly need on a cruise. They may be found at: http://www.geocities.com/calgon1"

That's not a link so you may need to google....I can cut down on a lot of the list, but must take more of the "socks and underwear" category. He did not include the 20 elephants that seem to come with us, but he does reference the kitchen sink. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the clarification on the "pack", makes sense now.... :teeth:

Later..... :wave2:

We also got the 1 pack of tickets per stateroom. As of yesterday, my parents had not recieved their cruise docs yet, but I am sure they are on there way. I am going to finish our alien green luggage tags I made for our carry-on luggage. (Not a necessity, just something I did for fun.) My children also made a countdown paper chain and are talking about the cruise almost every night.

Do you think they have the bottom one in DISboard green? We might need it from the looks of our pile so far...... We are still wearing our summer stuff, so I haven't even began to pack shorts, etc.

Hey guys! Like I said in my earlier post... I have a niece coming along with us. She is 14 years old and a lil bit shy. Any other teenagers going that need to hang out with someone? She will be stuck with all her younger cousins (which will be no fun) if she doesn't find her some friends.

The Smola clan has a DS14. That's about it for teenagers IIRC.

And I thought our new 29" for 2 adults was large..... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No docs here yet! I'm getting antsy. :hyper:

Trying to calculate how much we'll spend on board. So far, the biggest chunk is for drinks. Coffees at Cove Cafe, drinks of the day by the pool, martini tasting, pre and post dinner cocktails, it starts to add up. And we're really not big drinkers.

Celebrating our 30th anniversary, so we plan to enjoy ourselves and will try not to think too much about the cost. After all, you only celebrate your 30th anniversary, once!

Still no documents on the east coast in Mass.. :sad2:
Hopefully soon....
See everyone there...

and i need help with ideas that I should have planned by now.
I have nothing planned and I don't even know where to start. any ideas????

Hmmm I think I made a mistake by not booking my flight with my cruise and not booking transportation. I booked my flight seperately grrr.. so now we made reservations at the Florida Mall Hotel (anyone know anything about that hotel?) I can still cancel those and book somewhere else? any suggestions? I thought the hotels at cape canaveral were very expensive so I didnt even bother checking into them. Also what is the best way to get from the airport to cape canaveral? or actually the cheapest way there ? taxi?? rent a car?? or are there other alternatives?

also is there anyway we can all chat on here to make this easier? this is my aol screen name if anyone cares to chat elaine2503@aol.com

I think Barkley got a great rate at the Radisson at the port not too long ago. That's where we are staying as well. There are a few of us there that night (with a meet by the pool in the evening).

As far as transportation, there are 6 of us & we found that renting a car from Budget (through Upromise) was the best deal financially. We come in on Thurs & will be spending Friday at Kennedy, so we needed a car anyway. But, it really worked out to be the best. We'll pick it up at the Orlando airport & turn it in at Port Canaveral. One of us will take the car back & ride the shuttle to the port while the rest stay with the luggage & stand in line to check in :) I checked into the Disney transfers as well as the limo companies & it ws still chaper to rent an Expedition that either of those methods. We'll do the same thing in reverse for the trip home.

Congratulations and welcome aboard. What a wonderful celebration for the two of you!!!

We have sorta figured that the docs are sent out via category - so if you are a Cat 10 -12 you may not have received them yet. I called DCL and ther official response is 2 weeks to 10 days out.....LEt us know when they show up!
