Aaron comes after Aardvark, so should miss us completely!

At least there is no name that starts with BB (unless u count the pellet for an air riffle) so there can't be any more storms after Aardvark or Aaron!

I'm glad to see someone else on this cruise will be wearing a tux. DH plans on wearing one, but from what I have been reading on the "dress code" threads, not everyone seems to want to dress up. I'm looking forward to it. We don't have occasions very often that require formal wear, so we're going to jump at this chance.

O.K. nutcakes, the next set of hurricanes will start with the Greek Alpha. You know Alpha, Beta etc. Let's hope we don't have to go there.

Bite your tongues all of you. Wilma is the last one this season!!!

I LIKE IT! i can see a little "pirate" concession stand set up near the pool, we'll sell puke green wrist bands and "barkely curse" t-shirts :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hi Folks - yes, we know all too well it is the Greek Alpha that comes next.... along with a bit of oozo I hope.

We are beginning the hurricane dance - tonight was the store as we had (still hope) to have been at Food and Wine.

Tommorrow will prob. be taking down all the Halloween decorations we put up this weekend and Thurs, at Mother's for her shutters, and the office, Friday for ours....Oh, let us hope that this storm will turn and go out to sea (Yes, it is actually one of the posted tracks that is not being publicized by the HC). Or hand me that rifle and I will give it a shot!!!!

Back to fun cruise topics...DH will be in a TX and I will be decked out in my brand new (on sale) dress with "real shoes". I am actually wearing a long dress for semi-formal as well. There was a great post on the other thread about jeans at dinner by Logan, I think - he recounted the steam liners of old, which is what the Magic is based off of, and the fact that there is a formal night - and that means a tux and dress to match - we are psyched...

Hey DisNurse - what did you ever find out about the Christmas Cards...????

Must remember to put cruise docs in a safe place in case of the storm.....

Ahoy! This is my very first post after lurking around these boards for awhile now. What a reason to finally post!
We will be on the Magic, too!
Truthfully, I haven't read every post yet (I think I'm on page 70-something), but I have skipped around a bit and hope this is the info others may want to know;

MrsGreenJeans (40+), DH (soon to be 43), DS (10), DD (8)
1st Disney cruise / DH & I were on a Carnival cruise '93
Wisconsin (please don't snow on Nov 10th/11th)
Deck 2 aft
Late seating
Arriving day before/Staying at Courtyard Cocoa Beach

Wish I stay on the boards and visit awhile, but DD needs to get picked up from gymnastics!
Even if I don't meet some of you on the ship- it has been a pleasure reading all your posts. What a great group!!

Hello New Cruisers!

MrsGreenJeans..We are your neighbors from the west in MN. I also agree that the snow can hold off until we arrive in FL. It sure will be nice to get out of town as the weather starts getting colder. See you aboard.

Before they reach the greeks letters they will use X,Y, and Z. My dw is upset because I said that the hurricanes should be over by late october. She went to school in FL and should now better. I didn't tell her that the season is over at the end of november. :sunny:

According to the NOAA web site (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/HAW2/english/basics/naming.shtml), they don't use; Q,U,X,Y and Z because of the limited names starting with those letters. :confused3

Welcome all newcomers!

Where were all you people when I first strated this ancient ol' thread many, many months ago? :confused3

Look back for a quick laugh :rotfl: ....I was accually semi concerned there wouldn't be other kids on board! :rotfl:

It was just Chip&Dale&Fun and I .........out there by ourselves for a while!

Speaking of C&D&F....I truly wish you guys well and that the hurricane misses you by a long shot! If nothing else, make sure you stuff your cruise docs and passports in your shirts and RUN LIKE HECK! :umbrella: .....no matter what you need to forget what you have left behind and enjoy a wonderful vacation in the Eastern Caribbean! :sunny:

Just like you, mrsgreenjeans, we are on deck 2, have late seating, and have a DD age 8. :teeth:

Too funny tonight! :rotfl: ....I was greedy and ordered the NEW 2005-2006 DCL cruise vacation planning DVD and it came in the mail today. When I got home, DD was telling me all about the DVD and showing me the booklet with lots of cool pictures. She was "labeling" the pages with sticky-notes in preparation to bring this booklet for sharing in her 3rd grade class next week!

She was so innocently naive and cute I almost cried!! She has ONE HUGE SURPRISE coming her way! DS is just now old enough that I am sure he will remember this for life.

Barkley.....I want you to commend your DD for keeping the secret from younger brother! She must be so mature to keep such a surprise! :cheer2: How can she stand it? WHat exactly was your reasoning for this again? Is it 'cause he would ask about it everyday if he knew?

Closely watching the Tropical Update every 50 minutes past the hour on the Weather Channel......yours truly, DIS NURSE :flower:

i would'nt credit it to maturity on her part, i think it's more that she enjoys knowing something he does'nt :goodvibes we were'nt going to tell either until november 1st but after her surgery and having to miss out on sleep away camp we caved and gave her something to look forward to. as for not telling ds...well suffice it to say that patience is not his strongest suit. if a tooth is remotely loose he will have it wiggled out by nightfall, and as soon as a holiday or birthday celebration has passed he figures out what the next one is, plots out how many days on the calendar and we begin "the big countdown" (which he announces to us an update on each morning  ). we "thought" we had this trip in the bag, we'de tell him on november 1st then he would have the 2nd, 3rd and 4th at school to burn off steam. well now the school decides to let them out for the 3rd and 4th for parent-teacher conferences so :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc (i think they decided on the dates after they learned when we were leaving and when he was going to find out!).

i still think your kids are going to have fits when you tell them (maybe you should hold off on packing all of their underwear that morning :earseek: ).

i can't remember how old your son is but i can tell you they do remember disney cruises! our ds still remembers stuff from his first (he was 4 months shy of turning 3!).

don't all of you folks lucky enuf to be getting some cool weather wish us too much sunshine on the trip! i would welcome a cooling trend for the week prior so we can enjoy the parks (it's still in the mid to high 80's here, i would kill for a little rain or better yet FOG! i love fog-an added benefit being that the hot air balloons in napa won't land in it so the come over the mountains behind the kid's school and land in the adjacent farmland...so pretty :lovestruc ).

hope everyone gets their docs soon (disnurse did you do something to your t.a. to cause her to flee the country :moped: ?)

welcome aboard all the new posters (i've long suspected that this thread was being "stalked").

Good Morning Ship Mates - Today is a day of waiting and praying that this storm will turn. We are on the EAST Coast - Right now Wilma is headed to the West Coast - so we will not be "as" bad. It looks like a Cat 2 for us - not fun either. We had lost power 2 weeks last year - and they said that was only a Cat 1. How many days until we cruise? Need prayers for my Mother - she is very nervous and has been through too much during her long life....she cannot handle this stress.....

DisNurse - what a riot with your DD - stickey's on the DVD booklet - oh you are bad....Did you check and make sure the MD on board can treat for shock!!!!

Oh yes, cruise docs will be in a baggie and a safe place.

I'll try to post an update of our ship-mates if I have time....no shutters required yet for our area.....Let us see if this storm will turn.....

:wave2:

Barkley, I was :rotfl2: when you described your DS. He must be one of those "exceptionally bright, smarter than most adults" kids like mine. That is why we, too, held of telling our DS about the cruise. Since he has Friday Nov 11 off from school, we will tell him then.

But, what DS won't know until after the cruise is that we extended our vacation a little. We took up a timeshare company's offer and will stay in Orlando an additional 3 nights. I will have to practice my nos before I attend their seminar. "NO", "No", "no", "nO", "Nice family, but still no", "I'm sorry your(insert family member here) is sick, but still no"."You are a very nice man/woman, but still no". "I'm sorry your boss will fire you if you don't make this sale, but still no". I think that about covers it.

Chip & Dale & Fun, we have learned a lot about hurricanes over the last couple of years, eh?. It should be :scared1: or at least :worried: , but it has become more of a :headache: So far, Wilma appears headed to my backyard(Palm Beach County, Florida). While Wilma is to be taken seriously, we will probably see it as a Cat 1, maybe Cat 2.

Good Luck to any of you that have to deal with Wilma.

Stay safe yourself....path keeps moving - and what a cone for this one...WOW - almost the entire state.....I hope only a Cat 1 on the east, but latest says potentially it will not lose strength over land. Still, it is early - but if you need water of batteries, go now...they are flying off the shelves at lunch today.

Good surprise you have for your kids after the cruise....neat.
