November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Hi Gang,

For all of you experienced Dis Cruisers can you help me with some advice? With our two girls being on the younger side (4 and 6) We thought that we would not plan any excursions and just take a taxi to the beach with our beach pals in hand. My question is on the two Islands that we stop what are the best beaches for us? I would prefer a quiet beach. Thanks for the help!

JayPD-I am trying to talk my husband into golfing on St. Thomas. I am sure that he would love it. We looked at some pictures of the course online and he is afraid he might need a suitcase full of golf balls.

Congrats Dis Nurse on 700!!!

Welcome to all the new Cruisers!!!!

:cool1: O.K. now I feel safe in a reply to the welcome's. I was afraid I would be sitting here typing away and not know that 700 was the next one up. :Pinkbounc  Anyway, congrats Disnurse. And thanks to all who have welcomed me and Pluto too.

We have been to Magan's Bay - it is very pretty, but will be very crowded. The water is calm and clear. I think it was about $3/per person to enter. They have a little stand to rent floats and snorkel equipemnt and a little food and drink stand.

hello all!

i need to start looking at which beach we want to go to as well. i know hubby is going to scuba one day so i will have to wait and see what his sched. will be like before i can narrow down a time and place.

well tomorrow (monday) morning is our first day back to school :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: we are off to a good start-all clothing is out, all backpacks are at the door, all lunches are sitting in the fridge-now if i can keep this up for more than the first week i will set a new "personal best" :teeth:. now i just need to get in the mindset for homework, monthly projects, field trips...

Orient Beach in St. Maarten is very nice. Just stay on the side where people wear clothes! When I went I did see 2 people from the "other" side stroll on over to our side, and it was a scary sight. We are going to go there though because the beach is so nice. Hopefully the naked people will stay put on their side! :earseek:

You mean this will be different than using the alaskan marine highway? ;) That's the only "cruise" I've been on!

We want to try Alaska - and have heard about using the marine highway.....our friends went on that transportation mode...

And yes, a wee bit more magical, I would guess.... :rotfl:

i loooooooooooooooove alaska! we cruised the inside passage last year at this time. a truly wonderful cruise would be had if disney would get a ship that could go up there :wizard: we saw beauty beyond belief and learned much about the area (the "juneau deli bear :paw: ", the origin of the term "red light district" :rolleyes1 , and martinis on tap :drinking1).

honestly-stunning place to see, do a helicopter to the glaciers if you go.

Reminder - for those of you making our reservations 75 days out... A few TIPS, I hope you find useful.

The time is at 3:01 am for Eastern - we think. They were not on line at 12:01 eastern and I see from another board, it might be 12:01 am Pacific. I am not sure of this, but I could not log in at 12:01 Eastern.

There will be a new icon, that will say "RESERVE"....Palo, or shore excursion etc. That will bring a drop down menu of days and times. When I went into the spa site, the times were not in order. I wanted Monday morning....you would think it would have been posted after Sunday night and before Monday afternoon, well, no....it was after Thursday. So, look through all the times just to make sure.

The wish list will be very handy for you to use because you can pre-select all the excursions and not need to look through a long list.

When you reach your maximum reservations, such as for Palo, you will be blacked out and no longer able to access the available reservation page, at least I cannot see how to do this. I had thought I would post the days that were full - to help out....good plan, but the mouse will not let me.

The mouse will not let me check out the children's reservation page because we have no kids traveling with us. The mouse knows all!

You may want to make sure your connection still works. Luck of the draw but if you recall, our DSL line went out the day before the big 9*0 and I had to re-establish a dial-up connection ASAP. What a pain. Let's hope this "only happens to me" and not to any of you.

Hope these tips help. If anyone else who has reserved, can add tips for our first timers, please do so......79 days until I check into the Port.....hotel!

not sure-but i think they base their time on the eastern clock. we tried to post after midnight when we were eligible (castaway club) based on pacific time and it was a no-go. in fact we could'nt get it to let us into the system around 8 a.m. pacific time.

yes-the spa times are not user friendly, so be patient and alert when schedualing.

on palo-once you get your 3 max ressies (brunch, high tea, and dinner) you can no longer see availability. also, the mouse knows how many in your cabin are age 18 or over and will only allow you to reserve for that number or less at each seating.

on kids clubs-since there is not a max. number for anything other than flounder's nursary no one should have a problem.

excursions-sorry, since we are not booking any through disney i can't say how this works (but might be able to check availablity if someone wants to know ahead of time).

So remind me... what day is the 75th day? Or should I get my calendar out myself? Can you tell I am not a big planner when it comes to my own vacations??? :p

Dis Nurse I think 75 days out is August 29th, My calendar on the wall says this, but my countdown timer is a day ahead, I can't remember if I set the timer early since we are actually starting our vacation a couple of days early and doing Discovery cove in Orlando on Friday before the cruise.

I think it is August 29th as well, but I'd check your cruise plan sheet on the 27, 28 and 29th.....just in case the Mouse can't count....

I have Aug 29 down as well, so looks liek I'll be up late Sunday night, but luckily we are in the Pac time zone, so I'll check at 12:01 pac :) What if my ressies are linked with DM & DF in another stateroom, can I book Palo for 4? I have their registration info (and another computer) if I have to do it seperately, but if I can do it all at once, I'd prefer to do it that way?

Thanks!

No clue, I did not have linked reservations, perhaps someone else has tried....Have you checked to see if you can pull up their ressies on your computer with their user name and password? I'd recommend a "dry run" before 12:01 - just to see.

Yep. I have their login info, I just can't login at the same time on the same computer. I tried that on Friday. So, what I will have to do is dial into DH's computer and log them in from there (that way I don't have to walk from desk to desk to do it). BUT, if I can do the linked ressie thing, I'll be a tad less harried. I'll be prepared for the worst though!
