Here's my Christmas letter/poem. Not much of a poet, but it was about the cruise, and the vacation was the highlight of our year. :thumbsup2

‘Twas the Eve of Vacation 2006

‘Twas the 9nd of November,
and all through the place
every VanV was ready,
every passport in place;

Our suitcases were sitting
by the bedside with care,
in hopes that our airport ride
soon would be there;

The cruise was all paid for,
the excursions were booked,
while visions of the Caribbean
danced in our heads;

Jake was all ready,
to skip out on school,
his assignments completed,
he’s nobody’s fool;

When time to depart
every one was a chatter,
we’re flying the red-eye
soon they’ll sleep no matter.

Both flights took off
Riley smiling with glee,
Conner was happy
we didn’t hit a tree!

The glow from the moon
Changed the night into day,
and started me thinking
“it’s Florida, let’s play!”

When what with amazement
my eyes did see,
but our rental car’s ready
off we go to KSC.

We see Apollo, Discovery,
a launch view site too,
a bald eagle, her nest,
and an alligator too.

Soon we’re back at the hotel
some sleep we all need
Tim’s still on “China time”
and we don’t want him tee’d.

Come morning there’s Mickey,
There’s Pluto and Minnie!
On Fenders, On Schraders,
On VanVs and Andersons.

We’re all on the Magic,
Cruising Disney YIPEE,
and we’re quite looking forward
to Castaway Cay!

The VanVs all snorkel
and find sunken treasure,
Wendy goes parasailing
A high-flying pleasure.

A sea day to play
and relax on the ship;
next stop Costa Maya,
touring ruins, don’t trip.

And then overnight
Cozumel we arrive;
Atlantis subs our excursion
109 feet we dive.

Pirates in the Caribbean
the party of the night;
fireworks light the sky
as Cozumel drifts out of sight.

The next day at sea,
being social with friends;
Then to Castaway Cay
and Konk Coolers with friends!

With the cruise almost over
There’s still more to say
Like what did the kids do
How’d they spend their days?

Jake’s eyes how they blurried;
he didn’t sleep much.
He met some new friends,
they still keep in touch.

Conner and Riley had chicken strips
almost every meal,
with a Mickey Bar to end it
a true happy kid deal!

Vacation’s not over,
it’s still sad to disembark
we re-booked for 08;
DCL outscores any Disney park!

Cruise memories to re-live,
I’ve mentioned a few.
Cruise photos, there are many!
I’ve a website to view.

We extended vacation
As the temperature dropped
Three days at Walt Disney World
Yet cruising couldn’t be topped.

As we got on the plane
To fly home we all sighed,
Back to school for the boys,
Tim to China, oh my!

As the season approaches
and the holidays draw near
“Merry Christmas to all,
much love to those dear.”

Very nice couldn't have said it better. You are right DCL is the greatest. Sounds like you had as much fun as we did. We rebooked also for 2008. :banana:

Wendy, that was fantastic! I'm already counting the days!

How was KSC by the way? We're looking at popping over there once we disembark this fall.

KSC was fun. Tons to do, even though I was exhausted, we had a lot of fun. Before we went, my boys didn't know much about space exploration. The two oldest had seen Apollo 13, but that was it. Now my youngest wants to be an astronaut. :teeth: Of course the middle son still wants to be an imagineer for Disney, so I predict many more Disney trips in our future (good thing I'm already addicted). I wrote more about KSC in my trip report, or if it is easier, I have a blog on my cruise website.

Love the poem!
It really expresses all the fun we had on that great trip.
From what I have read, the cruisers the week after us had much rougher seas and the Wonder wasn't able to dock at CC...Bravo Capt Thord!!!
Tom and I and Woody and Mrs Woody watched the docking from Topsiders on Friday....it took 2 tries but he did it!
The cross winds were SOOOOOO strong, I thought we wouldn't make it.

Captain Thord 'gunning it' when he couldn't dock the first time.

I was a bit worried when Capt Thord gave up the first try and pulled away from the dock. "Hey, wrong way!"

Geee....missed that. We must have been grooming or eating. I know when we did go up top we were VERY CAREFULLY backing in and there was a lot of cheering when we made it. I thought it was just because everyone was happy to be there...didn't realize it was the second try.

I read your trip report on your website it is fantastic. You said many things I thought of while reading like the lady with the wings. You should really do this for a living. You have the knack for the right wording. Great job!. :thumbsup2 I throughly enjoyed it.
:rolleyes1 Thanks for the memories. :rolleyes1

Remember our conversation on deck 10 about why it was taking so long? And how he was being really careful? I was pretty sure he was having some difficulty - not realizing he did in fact try once before... but I knew something was up. I was very happy when he did succeed! That second day at CC really made my heart pitter patter... or maybe it was the boys calling me "trouble" - I'm not sure...

WENDY - LOVED the poem!!! It does bring it all back. Thank God we all have our memories right?

I'm now really excited for the future. Not only to 12/07 and the "gals trip" but also to me and DH's England/Ireland/Scotland trip in 07. Not to mention the MAGICAL SURPRISE 2008 cruise - oh where oh where will Disney go?

Peggy and Jackie - do NOT :crazy: go to the Wonder on 12/2 - we are sailing on 12/6.... :joker: :dance3:

I've been doing that for two days now!!! Ok, going to fix my signature!

I did get a call from DCL regarding my reservation - but we got it all straight! I didn't know you cannot apply the discount to a cat 3... but no worries, the itinerary we will be cruising on isn't even open yet, so lots of time to think about that...

Yikes I didn't realize the discount doesn't apply to cat 3 rooms! Do you still get the cabin credit? Our dates aren't out yet so we booked a cat 6 and were hoping to change to a cat 3 when we switched to our real dates.

Ah, but the VACATION starts 12/2.
Hope we can get that Cat 5 across for the Hannomom clan! Has anybody told PoohJen that she gets to meet us? I mean, we get to meet her...for some fun at WDW?

Ok, folks - we need to "chat" about a few things...OKW etc. Is anyone up for a chat - doesn't have to be Tuesday... I have questions questions and more questions!!!!:teeth:

Wendy, loved the poem! Too cute!

Pandamom, yes, you still get the room credit with the suites.

Jackie and Peg, less than a year and we will be eating cookies at MVMCP and going on the Wonder! Whoo Hooo! :banana:

Hi! Sorrry I never met any Disers on the cruise. I really was there. We had a great week! Funny thing is, my husband who does not 'Dis' at all, was in the hot tub with some of you the last night - or second to last. I think one he remembered was GrayFal.

And the man who had the Walt Suite (?) was nice enough to invite us to see the room one night at dinner while he was inviting the table next to us. I couldn't remember anyone's name, but I was thinking he was a Diser. We did not accept the generous offer, but Thanks, how nice!

SO, what happened while we were gone? The 'Big Surprise' was announced, I guess? I can't keep up with the board. We leave to move to Beijing China in two and a half weeks. i have been a loaded down with all that research and work instead.

P.S. Were one of you on the Atlantis taxi minivan with us? We joked about sharing a taxi ("group of 8?") I'm pretty sure that was another Disers family but I was too embarrassed to ask, "Are you a Diser?'
