November 10, 2007 - MAGIC - Eastern

Hey guys. I can't believe that we are leaving for florida in less than 48 hours! It's amazing to think about that. I have my last day of class tomorrow and I have to turn in my thesis proposal to my mentor, but thankfully it's pretty much done.

Tonight i'm all for packing packing packing. My DH surprised me with something when I got home today (you'll have to go over to my pre-trip report in a little bit to figure out what it is). I'm really happy he got it for me though :-D

I need to pack so much i'm going to go crazy!

I can't wait to get out of michigan! it's soooo cold and there was snow on my car this morning!

Packing is done!!!
6 suitcases/4 people.
Its like when I was a yak at the airport when they were younger, only it was pack n play, stroller, and carseats instead of suitcase.

We're done as well except for a few essentials we need for tomorrow. We have four suitcases and one large duffel for 3 people. That's a little embarrassing!

ya, we're at like 7 for 4 people....3 for DH and I, and apparently 4 for Dmom and Dsis (they don't listen when i say don't overpack :p)

Well, I've Finally started packing. When we got home from activities at 8 PM, I met with each child and guided them in their choices. Now, it's all sitting on my bedroom floor. Tomorrow's a laundry day, and then I'll get my stuff together. Pack it into suitcases Friday, and then we're set.

I figured out why I'm having such trouble packing for this trip. Each time we've cruised before, I always planned to rebook onboard. This time, we can't  , as DS will be in high school next year, and the school district is getting very strict. I've already warned DH I will be crying when they make me try to leave the ship.

My DD is getting sick too. I need to call the Dr. tomorrow and see what kind of decongestant I can give her to fly. I don't think she needs to go in, I think it is just a cold but she is sneezing and her throut hurts. I had their conference tonight - DS all A's and DD all high B's. Very glad.

Safe travels for all that are leaving.

Linda

Is this week the longuest or what???????????????

I wish I could take a sleeping pill and wake up on friday morning:lmao:

Seriously, tell me, how do you feel when you take Bonamine? Because the lady at the drog store scared me a bit, she said I would feel sleepy???:confused3

Neither Bonine or regular Dramamine works for me. I still get seasick and I am very drowsy.

I have had great luck with non-drowsy or "less-drowsy" dramamine. It is actually a different drug/chemical. I don't get sleepy and I don't get sick!!

Have tried the wrist bands and the Scopalamine (sp) patch and still got sick.

I picked up two pack of the generic at longs yesterday!:thumbsup2

Ours, too, except they wouldn't miss dinner on our last cruise -- one DS had shrimp cocktail every night, the other ate a whole year's worth of red meat, and once DD learned she could order two deserts, that was all it took to lure her to the dinner table every night! She even went all by herself the night we were in Palo; we were at a table by ourselves, and the table next to ours also was in Palo, so Hannah had the two servers all to herself. I think that was the highlight of the trip for her -- talk about being treated like a queen!

Lisa,

Same with Alex on the last cruise two years ago!!

We had great next door table mates and we told them and our servers that we would be in Palo and that DD might come on her own. She had a great time with them and was treated "royally"!

I think that they will get along great!!

1 more day! :cool1: :cool1:

I can't believe we leave tomorrow. We are beyond excited, but there's still lots to do today.

Is everyone else as excited? :yay:

I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I have to get through a full day of work, then home to pick up DS and have dinner, then we leave for the two hour drive to the hotel we're staying at near the airport. Our flight leaves at 8:05 tomorrow morning. I have been up since 2am - well I fell asleep for about an hour before my alarm went off, but I actually got up and organized DS's medicine so we could just grab them and go this evening! Can't wait to meet you all soon! :cool1:

ok this is getting serious...............only 24 hrs left to do everything and nothing at the same time:lmao:

This morning is for my hair. With laundry on the side!!!

This afternoon is vacuum (lets hope I will have time for that!!!)

DS hockey practice at 6h15.

Then got to get the sitter (my mom:rolleyes1 )

After that we will finish completly the luggages, and try to get some sleep, I really said TRY because I was awake at 4 this morning........

Yippe!!!!! Florida here we come in 24 hrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

In case we miss meeting some of you the first day, if you see a person with a walkie talkie, whispering "Chris, are you there, come in, over" into it, then please say hello, that will be me! :rotfl2: My husband came home the other night and told me that he heard from someone that we should have walkie talkies since we are going to be splitting up a lot. He wants to relax by the pool, I want to do the Disney activities. So I searched these boards and gave him the two most recommended brands and off he went to the store to get us walkie talkies. I have visions of me looking absolutely ridiculous carrying this thing around, but he was so excited that I couldn't tell him no. This trip was his idea and I totally hijacked it by taking over all of the planning and meeting all of you guys, so I couldn't refuse when he wanted walkie talkies. :lmao:

See you all soon!

Good Morning! Lucky Ducky You! I am so wacked out right now! Going on little sleep and nighmares. So jealous of all of you leaving tomorrow!
Safe travels everyone. Are TED/Karen and my family the only ones leaving on Saturday?

I recall those days. Try have dh taking your son to the bathroom and your left alone in line with 6 suitcases, carseat, stroller, etc. People in line were very nice and helped me drag everything up a few feet every time the line moved.

Happy to say that my kids now pull their own suitcases.

Lauri,

I'll be right there with you, and for the exact same reason! The school does not like it that we're taking the kids out for the second year in a row, but we absolutely can't do it after this year since DD will be in high school. We're going to have to take a Christmas or spring break trip instead, and we can't bring ourselves to pay what DCL during those times, so we'll be looking for a less expensive alternative. :sad1:

Michele,

Your post just made me laugh out loud!! We were just debating last night whether to bring our radios; we probably will, although I don't think we used them once last time. But we did see a lot of people using them, so you won't be alone!!!

We'll have four really large suitcases and one fairly large one (each family member will be rolling one), plus a garment bag and a duffel bag to check, plus everyone will carry on a backpack. Once the kids got old enough to pull a full-size suitcase and I convinced DH there was no prize for the family with the fewest bags, my packing got a LOT easier. Everything we need fits pretty easily into that configuration of bags, although if we go for more than ten days we have to do a bit of laundry. Once our youngest gets bigger and his clothes take up more room, I'm not sure what we'll do, though. :confused3

I think so, too. I'm really glad they've had a chance to "meet" via email before the cruise!
