How many dogs do you have? I used to board a cat and a small dog and I paid about 350 for a week because my cat needed shots.

Sending over a drink:wizard:

LBIGirl needs an emergency Konk Kooler! Please pass her a Konk Kooler, followed by a "drink of the day" as needed!:drinking1 :drinking:

used FL Tours to get a van from DW to the ship? Muffin and I have both booked them and wanted to make sure they were reputable. My friend, who I am going with, has been trying to contact them to confirm our ressie and has left messages and emailed and has gotten no response....any feedback you can give would be helpful.

Thanks

Mindelmouse,
Have you put this message out on the main cruise boards, might get
a faster respond from the main board.

I haven't used them--was going to but found it cheaper and easier for us to rent a car to drive it to the port. However, that is who I was going to use if we didn't rent a car. I've heard great things about them. Their info used to be posted on the DIS info pages.

I am boarding 2...yes only "2" Labs...both around 120lbs each (neither overweight !) . We have our choice of either Camp Bow Wow for a whopping 1200.00 or this new place which is much more, however I have had some really bad experiences in the past with the first one. 2x my older Lab (2yrs old) has gotten kennel cough from there. This new place has a pool, and hospital ventilation with ionic thingies that guarantee no chance of disease spreading or issues. It's a spa for animals. Fresh peanut butter at night etc...:confused3 I so do not want to leave for 3 wks to get a phone call that someone has to come get them AGAIN.. it happened 2yrs ago when "Harley" was a pup. I now have "Goldie" which is another pup at 10mos old.
I have no one to watch them. 3 cats and 2 turtles being taken care of by my animal rescue partner. I am so confused !!!

LBIGirl67 - Your labs are just GORGEOUS!! They are adorable. Here's wishing you LOTS of pixie dust to help you get this all taken care of. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: That second "doggie spa" you mentioned sounds wonderful. At least you'll know that they'll be well cared for there, so you wouldn't have anything to worry about while on the trip. :goodvibes

All I can say is WOW!:scared1:
I used to house sit for a coworker before I was married for the month of Feb while he and his wife went to Key West. They had 2 shephards. I got the house for myself and $200. I guess that was a deal on their part! That was my dog fix although dd would love one!

I can't believe how much is costs to board 2 dogs for 20 days!

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a house sitter? That way someone would also be in your house while you are away. 20 days away is a long time, you don't want to be a target, although I don't think the crime rate is high in the LBI area. Don't you have someone that knows a responsible college student that might be able to do it? It has to be cheaper for you, plus I'm sure your dogs would be more comfortable at home.

It sounds like the dogs are going to have quite the vacation! It's a lot of money, but not out of line. It's a challenge to find a "good" place to avoid kennel cough, etc. Fortunately, our guinea pig, Mr. Cupcake, and rabbit Rugby (aka Rugs Bunny) will be staying with friends. They will be as pampered at their vacation home, as we will be on the Magic! I'm sure when we return home we'll be looking for chocolate on our pillows, and the pets will be looking for extra yogurt drops in their dish!

It is officially time for me to start :scared1:

I have 17 days to get packed, get school work the kiddos are going to miss, have 2 teacher conferences, volunteer 4 days in school, finish my kiddos church presentation Bible (gotta get family & friends to send their favorite Bible verses so I can underline/highlight them), get the kiddos travel bags completed, get my dress altered.

All the while DH is stretched to the max w/ work ... that could be considered

Our cats and turtles are being well cared for by my rescue friend. DH does not feel comfortable with strangers in house, so out goes a dog sitting service. We have no family willing to watch ( our careers etc..blah blah). All my students are stil in HS and NO WAY am I doing that...be a party every night. Soooo...I fork out the big bucks and give Ddoggies a vacation.
DH is having a heart attack on the cost, but I told him it would cost more for Vet bills if we went somewhere else ($490 last time for kennel cough), plus they have 24/7 people there, Vet Tech on staff and OMG, the place is just amazing. I don't need the video cams for the VIP suites, which I may state are $70 a night per animal. There are so many extras included, pb and ice treats at night, they sleep on toddler beds...
<one habit that will be broken when we get home>, pool and real grass to play on.
Well I'm off to Target...new Indy movie out today and it's another to pack for laptop for DKiddos to watch. Figure great for naptime for DS7 when we are planning a late night.

We WISH that was the price of your cabin! We could rebook alot more often, then!

Janine, your dogs are so sweet!!! It is expensive to board them, though- good luck with all of that. How long have you been doing rescues? A good friend of mine does them, and started when she lived in Tuckerton and then Manahawkin, but they ended up moving closer to Philly because of her husband's work. She's still doing the rescues there, though. We used to volunteer with MMSC in Brigantine a million years ago before we had kids, too.

I'm shipping my box today...just need to pick up a few last things at the dollar store before it goes- like clothespins and suction cups w/hooks and bags for the fe's.:) And a dry erase board, which somehow I can never find!
