November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Wow, bfsobenner, lucky you!!! Sounds like alot of fun!!! How long has Rachel been water skiing? Have you ever done that at WDW before?

I don't have one, but I think I know what the Owner's locker is- it's a service that rents a container to people who are frequent visitors to WDW (like DVC members:) ) so they can put frequently used stuff in there, and not have to schlep it back and forth to WDW- they store the locker and deliver it when you arrive at WDW on your vacation. Some people store entire wardrobes of clothes so they don't have to really pack when they go to WDW!! But I think most people put in toiletries, pool toys, inflatable matresses, that kind of stuff. :goodvibes

Ellen

PS- Can't get over someone showing up to work with the chicken pox!! I would be MORE than miffed!!

Ok, you have us too, what in the world is a Owners Locker??? This is our first DCL cruise, don't have any idea of what you are referring too, please
fill us in !!!!!

I'm not certain, but I believe it is kind of like a storage locker that you can rent to keep your vacation "gear" in. It makes sense if you go every year or more than once a year not to schlep all the things that you need back and forth.

Actually, I did ski 16 years ago on bay lake on my honeymoon. It is too rough for what we do.

We drove 50 minutes north just past Groveland north of rt50 at
Jack Travers INternation Tournament Skiing site. It is a true world class site.

She is comming along great. Considering our short ski season in Jersey.
We both ski in our local (PA, DE, NY) tournamens and Eastern Regionals. Hoping to someday go to Nationals.

Sorry for throwing that out there without explaining :) Yes, it's all that Ellen described. We filled up our locker during our trip in January and "theoretically" I should only have to pack clothes and meds for this trip - everything else is in our purple locker. If you Google "owners locker" the silte will come up.

bfosbenner - the skiing sounds like fun! We skied when I was much younger. Wow... a jump!! I'm impressed!

***OH!*** I keep meaning to mention this :-) On the Castaway Club site, I found that you can get a photo release form so that you can get copies of pictures that you purchase at Shutters when you get home. I was thinking that would be a great idea for ... say... Christmas card pictures!! The link for getting the release form is on the CC site, if anyone is interested!

They also print photo christmas cards on board. (at least they did the last few times we cruised)
Of course it's more expensive than taking the picture to somewhere locally, but they are really cute :goodvibes
and in a little over 5 weeks we can all see how cute they are in person!!

(I am getting a little giddy about this trip!)

I learned to waterski one summer in my other life (before I became a mom).

That is exciting with the lessons and learning to jump. Those jumps always reminds me of that bad Jaws movie at sea world with the waterski formation.....

What a fun sport!

Finished my on-line check in - cross that off the to do list and put it on the tah dah list.

So to finish my story from the other day....my coworker definitely has chicken pox....now for the next 14-16 days I can be on pins and needles about getting them. I've had them before, but I've been sick for the last few weeks and I have a weakened immune system and I'm afraid I'm vulnerable. Isn't that wonderful....right in time for the cruise...which I didn't take cruise insurance for........I'm crossing my fingers, toes and anything else I can......pirate:

Eaak. Be well Mindy. Take all the preventions you can - eat an oranges every day, get some airborne, find a four leaf clover, get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and believe in the power of positive thought.

:flower3:

Got our tickets and Luggage Tags in the mail today....the excitement is building again :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: As if we needed that..

Are these for the cruise or are you going to WDW prior?
Either way I am terribly Jealous!!!

I can't wait to start getting those packages! DH loves it when they come because it puts me in such a good mood!
(sad how a few luggage tags and pieces of paper can mean so much!!!)
:goodvibes

Hey Everyone, I updated the Yahoo group with some more information I found. If you go to the "Links" section I added a few more fun things to do to pass the time till we're cruisin'!

(I know, weird that we are cruising at the same time...)

We are only going on the cruise. We purchased our own air tickets and are not going to WDW.

OOH!
That means I am going to come home every night from work and be anticipating that little UPS package!!

:woohoo:

Did I tell you I love my letter carrier? :cloud9:

NOW the kiddos can't get the mail.

I just spoke with dh. He is excited to hear that folks got their luggage tags already.
