This DCL cruise will be the first one for our family, really excited, but have been reading the posts on this site, a lot of good information, I think I am in overdrive with all this information. Door sign, fish extenders, wrist bands, all sounds good. Going to try and make my first fish extender this week, as I purchased some Pirates of the Caribbean material this past weekend, so wish we luck.
Palo, would love to try and get a diner or at least a Brunch reservation, but we are not CC members yet, so we will have to take what we can get. Just going to go with the flow, not going to let this put a damper on this cruise. We will try and book on line when our window opens up, guess we will need some pixie dust.

Muffin07, don't worry at all! When DH and I cruised in October, it was our first cruise. And while we were part of a group on the DIS, I didn't really participate in the group activities (dis tag and all that) but still felt like part of the group. We weren't CC members yet either, and managed to get Palo for DH's birthday one night and brunch another night. So you'll be fine!

It can be very overwhelming though!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, WOW, your family sure did
a lot on your first cruise. Going to work on sewing my FE this weekend, have
it all cut out, now just putting it together, as I am winging it from looking at
the pictures the other DIS's posted. Not sure how to personalize it yet,
as my sewing machine only does a straight stiching. Looks like I am going
to use the iron on letters, thanks goodness for short cuts.

I am going to do iron on embroidery and letters.

My sewing machine doesn't do too many fancy stitches.

Although, IF I read the owner's manual I might find some fancy stitches.

Well, today we received DD's school schedule for next fall. For some unknown reason they decided to switch weeks for conferences. As it now stands DD will be missing a full week of school. DD is a good student, but we still don't want her missing a full week. Guess I'll be talking to the school administrator Monday morning! I'm hoping the schedule is revised. Bottom line is...we will be on that ship November 1st. DD, DW & I might be busier than normal with homework the week before and after the cruise. (I get history, DW gets the rest-yeah I have the better deal )

I don't think they could change it- the teacher's convention dates are on the NJEA website for several years out- they have to book Atlantic City for alot of people...not that most of them really go!

Sorry, I'm from the state on the other side of the Delaware River.

DD attends a small private school. The Administrator is new this year. I'll be talking to him tomorrow. I'm sure we're not the only family affected by this.

New Jersey Teachers convention is Nov 6-7. That is why we picked the Nov1 cruise date.

my 2 daughters and my father will be doing our 2nd cruise for 7 nights on Nov. 1st, 2008
Last Nov. ('07) we did out first ever for 4 nights to Nassau + and loved it, but it was too short! Almost everyone we meet was from NJ or VA another state that has a useless week of school in Nov.
209 days and counting, we just got back from 6 days in Disney World last week - gotta have my Disney Fix!

I scrap - We've (we=me, my 2 daughters 12 & 7) and my father) been doing DW 8 out of the last 10 yrs, and this is our 2nd cruise coming up Nov 1, Just finished scrapping april '07 - still have to develop the photos from last week trip to DW - my goal is to finish that (amongst the other events before nov 1 (he, he)

Sorry to hear about the glitch in your schedules PlutosPup.

Our School District in NJ is now thinking of having school on Election Day - which would mean our DD will miss 3 days instead of 2 days.

I did contact the superintendent to object to the change.

I love my "Jersey Week" and would hate to have it shortened or taken away. I don't want to only have the option of traveling to see the Mouse on Spring Break (mobbed and too expensive) and the Summer (Yuk, too hot). Heck, those times of year are for tourists.

I'm not going to worry about it - maybe she can get extra credit in Spanish for traveling to Cozumel!!!
