November '08 ~ What Do You Mean It's Over? Should we plan another???

Haven't booked the trip yet but seriously thinking of going Nov 21-29th 2008, doing a split stay in AKL and POFQ. Everyone says to stay away due to crowds but I figure it can't be much worse than when we usually go in Late June and suffering thru the heat and humidity. If it is more crowded at least we should not be uncomfortable. Be nice to experience Disney in comfortable weather and seeing the decorations.

Great there you all go. Now I'm looking into a split stay! As if a new resort wasn't enough.:lmao:

Hi Everyone!

I just stumbled upon this thread!! We are in the midst of planning my 40th Bday trip from 11/22-11/29!!!

I have been to DW soooo many times, but I have NEVER been during the Holidays to see the gorgeous decorations!!! I can't wait!!

Right now we are looking at the Dolphin. I originally wanted the BC but the price was outrageous!!! So I figured the Dolphin is the next best thing.

We have never stayed in the Epcot area so I am really excited about the location of the hotel & all that is around it; Epcot, MGM, Boardwalk, etc!!!

I am a little worried to go during Thanksgiving due to the crowds but I figured if I could manage July 4th in the middle of the summer heat & all it's crowds I could handle Thanksgiving, besides I really do not want the kids to miss too much school. Afterall I can handle the crowds when the weather isn't 100 degrees & 100% humidity!!!

I am just curious if the weather will be descent enough to swim in? Does anyone know the answer?

Well looking forward to chatting & planning our fantastic trips!!!

I'll be there with my Disney mad parents from November 2nd-November 16th -CBR.

Seems a long way off at the moment but i'm sure it will fly by :cool1:

I decided against it.
I just can't get my head around all 5 of us trying to get ready in one bathroom in the mornings. Love to, can't.

YEA! The list is growning, especially the ones going at the time I will be there. It seemed like forever that I was the only one going for Thanksgiving...LOL

thats why we almost went with the ASMu Family Suite. But decided to "tough" it out at POR.

Wow! Look at how busy this thread is! And I was sitting here thinking that I was the only one who had to wait until November. It's so great to find so many of you making the same plans!

We were just down at WDW in December with both of our (adult) kids, their spouses and our one and only grandchild (3 years-old). DH & I were having such a great time that, one afternoon in Epcot, we called our best friends (who were home in MA and in the middle of a big snow storm) and asked if they wanted to come back with us in November to celebrate our 40th anniversary. They didn't even think before answering "YES!".

So now the 4 of us are booked into Pop Century 11/12-19. This is where we stayed last month and it suited us just fine...we had no problems.

My next project is to select a restaurant for 11/16 which is our actual anniversary. My husband is such a picky eater - everything needs to be plain! Most of the TS places are too "fancy" for his palate. :scratchin I guess I'll be spending some serious time studying the menus! :surfweb:

November can't come fast enough for me!

Ok so don't kill me...

I think I am switching my dates to Veteran's day week, 11/8-11/15, due to DH's work. We are definitely staying at the Doplhin & we are DEFINITELY going in November, in all the times I have been to DW I have yet to see the xmas decorations.

just can't decide to go during Thanksgiving week or Veteran's day week, anyone have pros or cons to either week? TIA!!!

Veteran's Day won't be as busy as Thanksgiving, BUT...(there's always a but, isn't there???)...
Jersey Week will be on the 6,7,and 8th this year, along with (assumed) Super Soap weekend. You would be coming in as the crowds die down. actually, WDW has this week listed as a "Wonderful Week" which means they think it will be slower than other times. It definitely would be better, IMO, to go then if you are looking for a slower time.
HOWEVER ( there's always a however to come behind a "but";) ) if you are wanting to see the parks decked out in decorations, Thanksgiving is a better time for you, despite the crowds.
It truly depends on your preference.
I went twice at Christmas and have seen the decorations. I never, ever want to experience those crowds again.
They scared me.

Let me know...
we have LOTS of time to adjust "THE List!"

Thanks Jo!!!

Why is it there is ALWAYS a BUT followed by a HOWEVER!!!!! I hate it when this happens!!! :sad2: :sad2:

My MAIN reason is to see the decorations, I was hoping that I would catch them at the tail end of my trip. When I researched the boards they went up on 11/12, the day after Veteran's day, so I was hoping the same would happen this year & I could catch the first MVMCP!!

Did I do my planning right or are you gonna give me the BUT followed by a HOWEVER????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks
Andrea

We fly in on thanksgiving day so does that mean orlando airpoert will have less staff on that day because of this day.:confused3
I've only just thought of this:eek:
The list is growing now & would like to say Hi  to the new members that have join in o here:goofy: :goofy: :goofy:

I don't think you'll have a problem. It's a very highly traveled day.

Here's my news...
Dh told me last night we are traveling in May to Disney Land! ( he has a conference out there).
I have never been there, much less to the state of California, so I am scared half to death. Don't even know where to begin planning for this trip! Yikes!

Jo

Ok I did it, took the last 2 nights off POR and added to CR.

I am veeeeerrrryyyy excited about this!
