I'm scheduled for an Novasure ablation next month. I was under the impression that this is done in the doctor's office. However, I am scheduled as an outpatient at the hospital she uses.

Is this typical? Has anyone had this done in office?

Thanks!

Suzanne

I've never had this particular procedure, but my guess is that the doctor's office doesn't have all the facilities available, but, of course, the hospital does. I think many doctors use hospital outpatient stuff as sort of an "extended" office.

I had the Novasure procedure in outpatient surgery at the hospital. I was glad to be put to sleep--I really didn't want to know what they were doing down there. It took longer to put me to sleep and wake me up (about an hour, total) than it did to actually do the ablation(about 2min.) I went home, took some Advil, slept awhile, then packed the car and went camping for a week :cool1: No problem

Yep, had it done last summer. It was performed at the outpatient surgery center at the hospital. I got IV sedation and needed to be monitored which neither can be done sufficiently in a doctors office.

From admission to discharge I think I was there about 3 hours. I had some burning that evening , but all was good after that.

Good Luck
