Nov 23-30, 2013 Disney Wonder 7 night Bahamian Cruise

Essentially, someone needs to volunteer to track room assignments, pick cutoff dates, and the like. I'm surprised no one has by now but there seem to be very few participating in this thread so far.

Hopefully someone will start it. I will help. I have been looking at how some of the other cruises are planning the FE. The spread sheet with the family names and ages, special events listed, cabin # and so on looks most organized. But I don't know, it just looked easier but I don't know what they are keeping track of other than what I listed above. Looks like there is a cut off to and more than one list on some cruises. I am new, so don't want to start something I have not done, we might not have enough interest. But I know this should be a busy cruise. The Christmas one was very busy. Most of the Texas schools are out the week of Thanksgiving, so I am thinking the ship might be busy.

I organized the FE on our last sailing. It is still pretty early to get that started. Most people don't sign up for the FE until after the final payment date. I coordinated the last one through facebook and that was a lot easier than coordinating in a DIS thread. I set up a facebook group to help get started, but I don't really want to do all of the coordinating myself. That was a ton of work last time.

Hello all,

I have recently returned from the Disney Magic Cruise January 12, 2013. (the Fog Delay Cruise). Myself, my Mother and both boys went on that one.
I felt, with Disney leaving Galveston, I won't likely have a chance at another Disney Cruise. Also, they are offering the Wonder, I just couldn't pass up the other boat, with different shows, decor etc.

We were on the sailing right before you (the one that caused your delay!).

Did you eat my Buffet lunch?
We were stuck in a 2 hour line waiting for the parking lots to open. For our lunch, we shared half a tube of Ritz crackers and a bottle of water, found in the truck.
Got on the ship at 7pm. :-(
Safety/lifeboat drill was at 10:00pm (may have been 10:30) either way, crazy first day of our vacation.

I clicked on your link, but was unable to open it. When I looked at other FE sign ups it looked like they were closing them 2 months prior to leaving for the cruise, that was why I was asking about when to start. If your making things for 50 to 75 people it takes time. From what your saying here we would start sign up like in September sometime, right? Is that a good avg. of people to figure on? As for me, the family has started their FE projects & shopping now or they will not be finished with all each of us picked to do. What all needs to be done to coordinate this event?

You can try the link again now. I think I had the settings goofed up on the page. Once you click, it you should be able to request to join.

On my last sailing we cut off about a month before the sail date. We started organizing things about three months before. I think you could definitely start much earlier than that. It is just really hard to know early on how many people will end up being involved. We had just under 40 cabins total (in two groups). But, I would say almost half of those signed up in the last couple of weeks before the cutoff. So, if you make your cutoff too early, some will miss it. We actually did a separate latecomer list also and there were people signing up for that as late as a week before. I think our FE group will probably get big because the ship will fill early.

As far as organization, I think doing multiple groups is best. That way, people can elect to be in multiple groups or just one. It keeps the size a bit more limited and more people will probably signup that way. On the last sailing, most people wanted just one group of about 20 cabins rather than doing both groups (around 40). Honestly, I think you could probably start organizing a group and limit it to say 20 and when it fills open another group. That way there isn't really a cutoff and people can sign up as the come along. I don't think that is the standard way of doing it though.

I guess if you look at it that way - I did eat your lunch! ;)

We were already kicked out of our staterooms and really behind schedule, so we weren't really living it up either though. It made us have to drive 24 hours straight to get home!

Oh Man! It sure was a bad deal all around.

I organized the FE on my last cruise but really don't want to do it on this cruise. It still is too early to organize it though because there will be a lot of people joining and dropping out of the cruise between now and then.

We will be on this cruise! It is our 2nd Disney Cruise, first was Alaska in July 2012. Looking forward to spending Thanksgiving somewhere other than the kitchen! I am a newbie to these boards, too, but look forward to getting to know everyone!:yay:

Hello,
We are returning for our second Disney Cruise. First time on the Wonder! Really looking forward to Thanksgiving Disney style!! Please add my family to the meet group and any future FE exchange!!

The Hollis Family

I just sent a request to join the FB group--I'm the Sarah that you just received a request from. :)

Hi Everyone, So excited to see more people have joined in. I love that there are so many Texans. We are from San Antonio and can't wait to just drive to Galveston instead of flying. Time is going by too slow for me. I can't wait to be on the boat. Sad to read that there may not be many decorations up for our cruise. I was looking forward to them. Maybe we will get lucky and it will be fully decorated this time. I am happy to see we may have an Fe group starting up. We had so much fun with it our last trip. I have to start thinking about what to make. I have been inspired by the thread on homemade gifts. I am not too crafty but hopefully I can come up with something. I am also thinking of dressing up for pirate night this trip. We wore pirate Tshirts and bandanas last cruise but our first one we all dressed up and it was so much fun. I am going to try and convince my family to dress up too. Anybody else considering wearing costumes? So much to think about and plan. Well hope everyone is doing well. Take care Tracy

Just booked. This will be our 3 DC. We went on the Magic for Christmas and absolutely loved it. Even my 18 year old son who couldn't go to the teen club loved it. He was asking if we could go again. We participated in the FE and enjoyed going to the room each time and checking our huge stocking that I got at the dollar store and used for our FE. Not sure what we will use this time. Can't wait till November 23rd!

Just requested a friend request for this sailing. Booked today.
