Nov 10, 2012--Western FANTASY!!

I have organized several FE exchanges and have had much success with the following ideas:

Those who wanted to sign up sent me an email with their cabin number, names of the adults and the name, sex and age of the children. If you are not comfortable posting your email address, then you could have everyone send you a PM with the same info. I did an original thread with the sign up information, then posted threads again as a reminder to sign up.

All communication regarding the participant list and changes were sent via email - not PM's on the DIS - people check email more frequently than the boards.

I created a spreadsheet listing all the information for each cabin - I sent it periodically as people where added or as changes were made. This way those participating could get a start on their gifts.

Our cut off was 6 weeks before the cruise - be aware though that others will want to join after that date. I never turned anyone away - I did tell them that they may participate, but it was up to each individual cabin to decide if they would be able to include them or not - most times everyone was very accomodating.

We never broke up into 2 exchanges - our exchanges never got that big. I wouldn't worry about it too much until you reach 20-25 cabins then you can make a decision - my thoughts - the more the merrier. If you do split, you can give the option to everyone to participate in both groups.

Gifts - we never made rules about who to gift to - it was up to each family to decide who they gifted too. Also we didn't schedule days to deliver the gifts - each family delivered their gifts as they had time. The less rules the better.

Last minute changes can be sent via email or text message if you collect cell phone numbers. Changes made at the port can be difficult to commincate - if there is a meet on the first day, the changes can be made then, but in our experience, most say they will attend, but then don't.

Hope this helps!

I like all your ideas. Sounds great!

Stopping by to say hi to all of you. I'm booked on this cruise as well. It will be a long flight over from Switzerland where I live. Travelling with me is my Dad, plus Joanne, a friend of us from Torrance, California. THis cruise is my birthday present for her 60th birthday which she celebrates next Thursday.

This will be my 3rd cruise after having sailed on the Magic in November 2009 and the Dream last November. Can you tell I love DCL?:goodvibes

I'll be flying into Orlando on Lufthansa, starting in Zurich and connecting in Frankfurt on November 1. Then it is off to the Grand Floridian where we stay until the cruise. I'm so looking forward to it. Love this resort. This will also be my 3rd WDW vacation by the way. We'll be using DCL transfers to the port.

Won't do any dining myself, since I'm tube-fed. Looking forward to see the new water features they've added on our ship. Haven't yet decided for any port adventures. The only thing I know already is that I want to try tp get a cabana again. I had one on Serenity Bay last year and I loved the whole experience and the quietness of this place.

I was able to book one of the aft staterooms with the extra-large verandahs. I'll be in 10158, with my Dad and my friend right next to me in 10160. On the Dream, I was in #7662, so it will be interesting to see the differences.

I'm looking forward to meet some of you guys. Here's a pic of me in front of the Dream, taken last November in Nassau, so you know who I am:

My sister and I had a blast on the Magic last year we just had to go again. So I can't wait to catch up on all the posts and mingle with you all. oh yeah... We live in Ontario, Canada :)

HI Everyone,

Good news and bad news - sorry to say that we will no longer be taking this cruise. Good news (for us anyway) is that we switched to the 14 night Panama Canal cruise. We have always wanted to do the PC and everything feel into place, including the cost being the same for a 14 night cruise as we were paying for the 7 night on the Fantasy (we did have to switch to a lower cabin, but that's ok). We plan to book the fantast for next year while onboard.

I hope you all have a great crusie - we'll be thinkning of you!!

Welcome Reto:welcome: We are staying at Grand Floridian for a few days before the cruise too. Maybe we will meet each other this time around - I was on your November 2009 cruise and remember seeing you in passing but never had the chance to meet.

Welcome Tanya and family! Another girl my daughter's age; she will be so excited!

Tammy (dthogue), sorry you won't be joining us. Have fun on the PC cruise! :thumbsup2

We have booked this cruise as well. Going on the cruise will be me (Rick), DW (Shaunnae), DS 15 (Billy), DS 12 (Braydon) and DD 8 (Abby).

We are planning to go to WDW before and after the cruise. We normally go to Disneyland 2 or 3 times a year, but this year we are going to WDW and DCL instead. To bad we will miss Cars Land, but we are all super excited to go on our first Disney Cruise.

Right now my SIL, BIL and there two kids are going as well.

Hi Rick. I'm disappointed about missing Carsland and the new DCA this year as well. :sad1:

Oh, cool. I really hope we run into each other at the GF as well! Feel free to say hi if you see me! What day do you arrive at the GF?

Well I bought plane tickets, as prices have been all over the board so it seems more official now.

Just trying to decide if we should stay at the Hyatt, go over to the port or stay at WDW and possibly go to the Very Merry Christmas Party the night before. Dates have not been released but other years it has been this weekend. Has anyone been and is it worth it?

Never been at WDW for the holidays. We're driving down and staying near the port the night before we sail. The rest of our party will arrive via plane that evening. Just figured we'd stay close to the ship. Not sure how "lively" we'd all feel after all that. Of course, I'm sure the adrenaline will kick in at some point. It's going to be rough being in Orlando and NOT visiting the Mouse! Well, at his house anyway! I'd be curious to hear about VMCP anyway. You never know!

We arrive at GF on the 8th(Thursday before the cruise). If I see you I will make sure to say Hi!

We have been to the Very Merry Christmas Party a few times and liked it allot. We may do the same this year. Cookies and hot chocolate. Christmas parades. Shorter lines for the rides.
